I thought this was gonna be about the SLOWrun that I have done a few times, AKA start at level 0 and take as LONG as possible. My record is 43m39s for a single game
now that makes more sense for a time that I was thinking of. Probably because I was estimating the speed of each piece falling all the way down. I wasn't thinking about the pieces going faster when the stack was high
@@EebstertheGreat Yes. I'm still not sure if there's a level breakpoint where it could be possibly more worthwhile to let extra pieces fall before going to the next level though. Might be worth mathing it out.
Are you sure building up high is the best strategy early on? It does mean pieces don't have to fall as far (which is a big deal), but it also means you spend that much longer on level 0. It seems like the ideal strategy would be to build up 7 or 8 high and then try to reach 10 lines as soon as possible.
@@aGameScout Until lvl 8, the speed progresses harmonically, so the time required to beat each level should decrease linearly up to that point. The speed increase doesn't feel like much, but that still adds up to a lot of time since you spend so long on those levels.
It's a challenge I came up with that starts as low as level 13. You maintain a perfect stack 12 rows high while trying to score as high as possible on Level 13 or higher, without the stack going below 6 rows. It was inspired by your B-Type 19 - 5 video.
I like to do a strange category I called “The Floor is Lava.” I stood pieces up to at least 5 high, then tried clearing back to the bottom, but every piece placed must be on top of another piece. (Middle tucking is fine, as long as it’s on top of any unit.)
Is there any way I can get an indicator of how fast I tap on the nes classic edition because I'm not sure if I'm even reaching 10hz but I'm more consistent with that then trying to use das
It's definitely still possible that a top DAS player could win an individual matchup vs a hypertapper, but incredibly unlikely that they could continue to win matchups multiple times in a row, so I would not bet on a DAS player winning CTWC 2020
No you should min max it into the slowest possible run, which meant as many single line possible and stay as low as possible, which is more interesting then a hybrid of spedrun but slow af
Actually what I've done was not "no-pushdown" but I abused the mechanic that you must hold the down button until a piece lands to surface to earn some push down points, and made it through the killscreen with the lowest possible Lv. 29 score of 175,160. www.twitch.tv/sqr_y3/video/244690696

@@aGameScout Well also, 90% of the game time happens in the first 10 levels, the speed increase is pretty dramatic past level 9.
So you try to keep the stack low with singles and doubles?

I got 45:09. Post in a bit
This speedrun was pretty hard to watch, but was rewarded with a nice ending. Good job with the video scout, as always!
This is the”Tetris initially came out and I haven’t accidentally hit down” run.
sick content dude keep it up :D
Loving the Tuesday uploads!
Another fun and interesting video! Thanks brother!
New challenge: lowest possible killscreen score
That would be 175‘160

ooh interesting point. I’m not sure how much of a difference it would make though, the early levels are all very slow

sick video dude. :D I once tried to beat every height and level on B-type pal and gave up on 16-5
Lmaoo I tried no push downs 0 start twice and I died on 14 and 27
Aw dang R.I.P.
oh, it's Tetris Tuesdays, AND I'm on time for once, whooooooooooooo!! POG video idea, love it!
Set a unique record by attempting the LONGEST level 19 to reach.
All singles at the bottom!
really cool! What about "Lowest possible killscreen score?"
Haven't watched yet but dang this sounds brutal.
that's what she said 5:42
Yay, Tetris Tuesdays again. Have you ever tried the perfect stack challenge Scout?
what’s that? is it trying for 100% tetrises?
It's a challenge I came up with that starts as low as level 13. You maintain a perfect stack 12 rows high while trying to score as high as possible on Level 13 or higher, without the stack going below 6 rows. It was inspired by your B-Type 19 - 5 video.
Playing at slow speeds makes me trying to go for 100% TRT!
At level 1 you should just build up asap, not filling up the whole playing field, for example place as many pieces vertically and leave holes
1:47 As a Smallant fan, I approve 👍
I have actually attempted a couple of slowruns on my channel :D. It reminds me of them.
Now I want to see the longest possible game up to level 29
I definitely don’t have the patience for this challenge.
Joseph saelee "it's free real estate"
The audio sounds a little different. It sounds like the pulse channels use a 25% duty cycle where they normally use 50%. Is this a modified rom?
He is playing on a Retron console.
Poopyoldhag Thank you!
I love it when I’m playing Tetris effect and I go faster then some of the best player
btw when scout's tetris thursday will be released? it is already friday here :bearbear:
In less than 2 hours
Every line you build for a clean stack is 2.25 pieces. Tree strat sounds much more efficient, I think.
I like to do a strange category I called “The Floor is Lava.” I stood pieces up to at least 5 high, then tried clearing back to the bottom, but every piece placed must be on top of another piece. (Middle tucking is fine, as long as it’s on top of any unit.)
At the start of the video I saw you push down that line piece once. Did anyone else notice?
I didn't?
@@aGameScout
Yeah now that I rewatch it looks like you just moved the piece left it just kinda sounded like it.
oh yes tetris speedrunning its sad that ppl dont do that as much
the challenge would be to see how many tetrisesbyou can get without burning a line (but allowing push downs!)
Is there any way I can get an indicator of how fast I tap on the nes classic edition because I'm not sure if I'm even reaching 10hz but I'm more consistent with that then trying to use das
That's actually interesting, there must be a custom rom to test that, if not would be interesting to create one
There ia a rom on ctm discord channel
@ thanks dude I'll check it out
How many lines would it take to maxout if you only got singles, started on level 0, and never got any pushdown points? That is what I want to see
u can just add 40 10 times and then 20 times and so on (atleast thats what i think
You need to clear 702 lines (or 701.12 to be exact)
Make a DAS tutorial
EricICX is working on one!
I have always wanted to make one... Even generic for all Tetris games instead of specific..
Echomems DAS tutorial for gb: “Don’t bother”
should’ve pushed down on 19
lol
I would love to see the reaction of someone that didn't even know that Tetris had an ending at this video
Score=Time (almost)
But why turn off the music? That is so awkward without ....
Do you think DAS players will be able to compete with hypertappers?
It's definitely still possible that a top DAS player could win an individual matchup vs a hypertapper, but incredibly unlikely that they could continue to win matchups multiple times in a row, so I would not bet on a DAS player winning CTWC 2020
@@aGameScout jonas for his 8th trophy lol
@@Devp278 i think this is the last year a DAS player has a chance on winning ctwc. From next year deep killscreen play will be necessary

What about worst possible score from 18 to killscreen?
SQR has done it, it's about 170,000. Might be worth making a video on at some point!
I'm confused, were you trying to do this fast or slow? Why didn't you stack up high on level 0, that would have been the biggest time savings.
Fun fact: dog didn’t even try and he beat the record.
I'd want to watch this with push downs I think that would be a bit more interesting
Is it possible to max-out from a 0 start???
yes, it's just much harder because you get so few points at the beginning. Harry Hong and I think a few others have done it
How about lvl 1 to lvl 17
Yes.
It took him 30:30 min to score 303000 points.
poggers
I don’t get what are you speedrunning towards. Because if there is no goal, you can just top out at level zero.
It doesn’t get fast exponentially, people misuse that term.
Why dont you play No Tetris 2
The phisics are fun :)
Now let's get the world record low 29 transition score. if you single every line up to level 29 you get 162,400 point. anyone? :-D
SQR has done it!
TUESDAY
hypertapper be like:
hold my controller,
me hold your beer
You hit 303080 at 30:30.80 (just kidding but almost).
Что это делает у меня в рекомендациях?
Now do it where you can’t do doubles, triples, and tetrises
