    I think the predictability for Salah has become his biggest asset especially now he has transitioned more to an assist based player. He still is 100% a goal threat but his key passing range become far more predominant in his game which makes him much more difficult to defend against.

      Yes good info in the vid. 100% right about VDV’s pace. The reason it’s not so noticeable is because he’s rarely been caught out of position so far this season and so hasn’t had to speed up in recovery.

    What may take this game from Spurs hands is half time. The subs play a key role which allow Liverpool to continuously press up top. Imagine being a Spurs defensive line seeing Gapko and jota come on after chasing Nunez and Diaz around for 60 minutes sounds like a nightmare

    key battles in this match : 1. Maddison vs MacAllister: so far the teams Liverpool faced didn't have a great number 10(thank god Moyes played Paqueta on the left), Maddison is very technical and he is on form so Klopp should play either Bajcetic or Endo in my opinion 2. Matip and VVD vs Son( while VVD on his days would have controlled Son I don't think he has the legs to cope with his pace and trickery and Son will obviously be too fast for Matip) so Klopp should go with Konate who is very fast and aggresive when he defends and is better than Matip and VVD currently to handle son 3. Bissouma and Sarr vs Jones and Szoboszlai. I think both teams are leaky and will concede goals but Liverpool's attacking and Midfield unit should better Spurs's

    The point about Mac Allister picking up Maddison around the box is my biggest concern, you're absolutely right to flag that he isn't a natural 6, and therefore his defensive awareness has been lacking at times. Particularly in picking up clever runs and spaces, the opposition midfield has drifted into in and around the box. Two things Maddison obviously excels in. Some in the comments suggest Endo. Despite his performance yesterday I still wonder whether Endo has the legs to be able to come into a game like this that promises to have some chaotic game states, or the ability to scan well enough to play quickly through the Spurs press. These have both been things that are pretty obviously a step below thus far in his stint with us.
    All in all, I find myself quite nervous about this fixture. Thanks for the video as always, had no idea I wasn't subscribed as I'm always getting recommended your videos. Have fixed that now!

  • @paulomarroti634
    @paulomarroti634 8 месяцев назад +3

    Clearly youre basing how Spurs play on 1 game vs Arsenal. Thats poor. Firstly Van de Ven is actually the fastest player in Spurs' back line, 2ndly Johnson was an outlet but when Solomon plays there, he's a ball carrier with Son being the outlet. Lastly their defensive structure off the ball is a 442 not 451. The latter only applied once maddison comes off. The way Spurs play varies with personnel

    • @PythagorasinBoots
      @PythagorasinBoots  8 месяцев назад +3

      Van De Ven is not as quick as Spurs fans are making out. He’s quick across long distance but has a slow turning speed and his feet aren’t quick. Many people confuse a defenders speed based on just their long distance speed. Gary Pallister thought he was quick until he played Romario. Secondly we already made clear that when Johnson is out, Solomon is more of a ball carrier hence we compared him to Benrahma and Johnson more to a Rashford. Finally there are minimal differences between a 4411 and a 451. Maddison won’t just stay up top next to the striker unless it is a pressing structure. Press off the ball structure is different to resting off the ball structure once the press has been bypassed. It will depend on if he wants to risk staying up front or come back to help the midfield.

      Straight line speed is not the only way to measure ‘quickness’ in a cb otherwise Pau Torres would be seen as one of the fastest cb in the league. Great video mate. Couple of points i would add. I think a major point in favor of liverpool is their set piece taking, especially corners. Liverpool have been lethal from corners this season, and tottenham have showed weakness in that aspect (ex. the Sheffield untied game). Additionally, as u pointed out, I think Diaz vs porro will be the most vital battle of the game, as Porro is not known for his defensive abilities. I believe that if diaz is on form, he will absolutely destroy porro on the right side.

    • @gorgar0311
      @gorgar0311 8 месяцев назад

      Now that Peresic is out, Liverpool has the edge in corner taking for sure. Good observation. Maddison has improved corners for Spurs but Liverpool still has the edge.
      Porro (like few other significant players) did not comfortably fit into Conte’s system and was a defensive liability last season. This year he has really turned it around playing in a back four with good support when he joins the attack. He’s played very well defensively, surprising everyone. A good example perhaps of a player needing that initial half season to figure out the PL, settle in, and listening to hood coaching. There’s more to come from him I think.

      Son will always be fast - he’s like Giggs but his volume of sprints has declined and that is shown in the nature of his defensive work and also just his tendency to dribble hence he’s being moved away from the wing into a central area. He will use bursts of speed to catch people of guard but needs to use it intelligently.

       @PythagorasinBoots I like your videos and I don't think you have any intentional bias, despite being a United fan (I think?)... but using words like predictable or aging for players the quality of Salah and VVD seems a bit short sighted. I mean surely neither of their defining or identifying features for a tactical insight are summarized by those two words? For example, you make a fair point in that VVD isn't quite what he was in his prime, but his current quality is still beyond "aging." "VVD is still a top quality CB in this league, though not as imperious as he once was" is perhaps what you meant, but the word choice is that's what I'd imagine people will have a gripe with.

    • @arvin9425
      @arvin9425 8 месяцев назад

      @@HeadieUnobit silly to be annoyed with the word 'aging'. This is supposed to be a neutral, unbiased analysis based channel so it would follow that the word 'aging' means exactly that, vvd is older and nothing else. Assuming things abt the creators view on vvd based on the word 'aging' is strange.

    • @HeadieUno
      @HeadieUno 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@arvin9425 I mean going by this usage we're all aging so it's an entirely useless descriptor in that context lol. Konate is "aging" as well. It's pretty clearly used to denote his decline which would make it a bit of a premature identifier for him as compared to say- a player like Muller or Silva. Not upset or trying to bemoan him, simply providing an alternative perspective- don't think that's strange at all.

    Disagree on alot of points:
    -If anything, Liverpool definitely are the stronger team mentally. They've come back 4 times this season already, including the famous comeback at Newcastles ground - one of the toughest palces to go to since a year. Additionally it's been 6 years since Spurs won a game against Liverpool. I dont know how you come to the conclusion that Spurs might have the mental edge
    -Liverpools attack and defence are both superior to Spurs'. More goals scored and less goals conceded. Spurs overperformed their xG by 5, which is quite alot compared to Liverpools 1
    -You'ld only give the edge to Spurs' midfield as Bissouma has been flawless so far and Liverpool lack a natural 6. But you also have to factor in; Maddison is the most creative player in both midfields but in terms of overall package, Szoboszlai's off the ball work rate is clear and also on the ball he doesnt need to shy away from Maddison
    I'm not saying Spurs are a weak side, no! Kinda the opposite, Spurs and Liverpool together with City are the most inform teams in the league this season. But overall Liverpool have the better starting 11, better squad, better manager, better mentality. I know, Spurs hype bc they surprised alot of people and play good football on the eye. However, I can only repeat: if there is one team expected to actually win this game, it's Liverpool.

    • @PythagorasinBoots
      @PythagorasinBoots  8 месяцев назад +3

      Mentality over the season - yes of course Liverpool are the better side but in a one off game you can’t overlook things like momentum and home advantage. That is not to say Liverpool aren’t still favourites but you cannot downplay a Spurs like you have based on a one off game where both sides have started the season very well.

    Draw, Liverpool fans have been overrating our teams ability this season. Szobozslai has started great but they cheer every little thing he does like it’s world class and not the bare minimum expected from somebody. We gave chances away to West Ham so we’re definitely conceding against Spurs, will be a goal before 20 minutes because of VVD using his tired old aura rather than actually getting stuck in. Alexis doesn’t suit our style of play whatsoever, someone like Sarr or Bissouma suits us.

      Agree somewhat about Udogie. The vid said “he failed the test” against Arsenal. Not sure if he’s been watching this kid and just taking the defensive miscommunication back pass to Nketiah highlight and coming to a poor conclusion. He’s been absolutely fantastic since game 1. The early yellow he received at the Emirates was weak and he was pissed. Lost his composure for a bit. But the rest of the game Saka really didn’t do anything but have the shot into traffic deflected in by Romero. If anything, I was even more impressed that the lad (he’s 20) persevered and managed Saka really well knowing he was on a yellow.
