- The Native American Flute can transport one to a more relaxed and calm state, especially after listening for 10 minutes or more. This feeling is known as the ‘alpha’ state, a state during which your brain is pulsing at a lower rate than your mental and emotional fluctuations. (Price, Creating and Using the Native American Love Flute, 1994). One of the most impactful ways to develop this alpha state, is by focusing on the breath. During our daily activities this can be a challenge, as due to our busy lives, our minds end up operating mostly in the ‘beta’ state. In this state, your conscious mind is dominant and your subconscious mind can’t break through to help you out, as it can when you are asleep. So, people who are able and trained to maintain a prolonged alpha state can deal with life much more effectively than people who are usually in beta (Price, Creating and Using the Native American Love Flute, 1994). In this way, native flute can lead you to develop more coordination, intuition, and intelligence. One of the main reasons for this is because listening to the flute encourages one to sit and ‘be with the breath’.

My stepfather is going to be cremated today...he's English and loved and admired everything Native American...so that's why I'm here....Native American music makes me feel closer to him.
❤My grandma was full blooded Cherokee Indian & she was beautiful. She made us rain dance when she wanted rain for her garden. She passed away 4 yrs ago from brain cancer. I miss her too & I have her artificial fireplace that she loved! Every October during the anniversary of my close friends suicide 16 yrs ago my grandmas fireplace stops working. 😂 This started the year after she passed away & I was ready to throw it in the dumpster because I didn't understand what was happening. I unplugged it & set it by the door for a few weeks when it dawned on me that she was trying to get my attention. 🤗 I carried it back where I had it before & I was telling grandma I know she's talking to me so if I'm correct she better come on or I'm throwing the fireplace away. 😂 As soon as I plugged it in the fireplace came on & it hasn't happened since. 😂 I know she's always with me & I share this story with my oldest son, her very 1st grandson 🤗 💕 🙏🏼

I don't know why but it blows my mind that just 200-300 years ago my great great grandparents woke up to the sunrise, felt the fresh dew, a cool breeze, the smell of a campfire and the sounds of nature and living a simple peaceful life then little would they know that a few generations down the road i would be born and be fascinated by their culture that was just the norm for them and live zealous and curious of their lives.

I work at Walmart & there's a native american man that comes into our store with his friends occasionally and he always plays this instrument while walking around shopping off and on.
He's really good and today he came in and played. I was feeling stressed out & was in the middle of trying to do grounding exercises to prevent a panic attack then I heard him start playing and my panic & anxiety started to quickly melt away.
I saw him again about ten minutes later to thank him because I had to let him know that he made a positive difference in my day even if people in our store didn't understand why he plays that someone appreciates his talent.

@Ivonne Herrera yeah most people give him strange looks of judgemwnt or glaring because he plays in a public place & always smells like weed when he comes in but his music is so peaceful and nice. I wish more people would stop to enjoy little things like that but unfortunately alot of people would rather be pessimistic and uptight. I use to be that way but then I realized it doesn't change my situation or anything going on around me to waste my energy being so unhappy & negative. So I make it a goal to try to be as positive as I can and greet as many people as possible because I know how it feels to feel like no one cares. I think he also plays for those reasons it makes him happy but also he knew that even if he only made one extra person happy that day that it was worth it because he was spreading peace tranquility and positivity in a world full of alot of the opposite unfortunately.

My father was nearly 100% Native American. He had a hard life. One aspect that always made him calm, happy, more at peace was his music. I can still remember the sound of it. So calming, so comforting for him & everyone who heard him play.

The Native American wood flute is the most peaceful sounding instrument. People with anger issues, depression and/or anxiety should listen to this music because even if you try to feel those feelings you just can't when you hear this instrument. It is truly the sound of inner peace.

Currently nursing my daughter to sleep to this. We do this every night, I am full blood Lakota Sioux as my daughter has Lakota from me, her dad and also a bit caucasian and black. She loves flute music and I'm starting to practice so I can play flute music for her. So beautiful, peaceful and brings me back home and to my ancestors. With everything going on and me still having to work 40 plus hours a week because I work "Essential business" I can only do my best to protect her and keep good energy for her. She's counting on me. Uplifting music.

I suffer from Lupus, chronic pain, PTSD and anxiety and seizures. I can put in my headphones and listen to this. It helps with the pain and anxiety that pills are not really helping anymore. I would rather listen to this than take a bunch of pills! People don't believe me when I tell them music does really help!! I can lose myself in the music and it can take you anywhere! I'm from the Cherokee in N.C. My great grandmother was full blooded! I would give up everything to be able just to live in the mountains and off the land. Society is so harsh now days. Some much anger and hatred! No need for it! 😢😢😭
I believe you...music really does help. The ways of our ancestors were so much more intelligent...and from the heart, a heart that resonated with Mother Earth...much wisdom.

Although I do believe the chief said Cherokee in the quote, so my argument kinda doesn't matter, but you get the point right?

I’m not a Native American man but I am feeling very much at peace at the hauntingly beautiful sound of the flute.
I can sit and listen to this for hours.
One day I took a walk to the beach near my house, I felt something inside me say go barefoot and feel the earth under your feet. When I got to the beach it was quiet and calm, and there was a man playing this beautiful tune from his flute. Almost instantly it made me stop and tear up, I sat and listened to the waves and to his wonderful tune, forever feeling on the verge of tears, I don’t know why it made me feel that way but it was so peaceful.
It was the moment that you realized that is a creator and he knows who you are. We don't speak to our creator he speaks to us

My mother was Cherokee she would play music like this all the time. For me it's so relaxing, soothing to the soul. I listen to this every night to clear my mind helps so much.

Imagine sitting outside by a campfire, under the stars with nothing but the sound of crickets and the soft blowing wind slightly gracing your skin. The smell of the wood burning and the fresh air. With trees moving ever so slightly in the wind. I'm from Cairo, Georgia USA, and have some Cherokee blood in me from my dad's side, this music makes me feel connected to that part of me, it humbles me and soothes my soul from the pain I have felt over the years. It sets my mind at ease and makes everything seem so peaceful.
I just had a liver transplant a week ago and listened to this before and after surgery. I believe it helps with communication between your soul and the great spirit while your in a peaceful unconscious state. It helped me!

I was never taught my own culture but forced and socially conditioned to practice the settlers languages and cultures. The first tradition I learned from was the ancient African khemet traditions. With the ankh Wich symbol predates cristinanity. But I guess everyone's different and that's what worked for me. Then I read Carlos Castaneda books and toltec traditions and everything made sense now.
Yes I find it beautiful also how many traditions and culture of people existed all throughout north and south. I learned about one which I was thinking about the native now a days Houston and Galveston cilvilization, that migrated during the winter and warmer seasons. Our ancestors are beautiful people ❤🍃

Imagine being lost in a canyon, sweat dripping off your forehead, and barely enough strength to stand. You look around for your horse, but your horse is just as tired as you are. The vast sea of dry earth quivers when you look at it. It burns your eyes to exit the mouth of the canyon as the sun beats your neck. You kneel on the dry and cracked dirt, and try to remember what it was like to be cool and safe with your hunger satisfied and your thirst quenched. Your throat burns and aches for water. Looking around at your surrounding once more, you feel an overwhelming sense of hopelessness, and crows circle you high in the air, anticipating a meal. Just when you are about to pass out from exhaustion, you hear beautiful music echoing throughout the canyon. You turn your head to the top of the canyon cliff, and see a huge hawk perched, peering down at you. Its large brown and grey speckled wings are open across the sky. As it lowers its wings a human face becomes clear beneath the breast of the bird, its face covered by the glare of sun. You look down to see a slender body of a woman, her skin tanned and the color of clay. Her hands are to her lips, and a peculiar instrument is positioned there. The hawk on her shoulder peers down at you still, its claws fidgeting. "Take me away" you call out, though your voice quiet and raspy. The woman stops her song and kneels down on the edge of the cliff. She extends her arm toward you. Your vision goes dark.
You wake up back in your camp, surrounded by your family. Your mind is swirling with confusion. Was this all a dream? No... Is it a hallucination? No... I feel the hands of my family on my chest, and I feel the sunburn on my back. But who was that woman? And how am I back here? You tell the story of the woman to your family and they look at each other with worried faces. "I think you need some rest" they say, their voices full of doubt. They then explain how you have been sick with a fever for five days straight and haven't left the bed. At one point you were presumed dead, only to be found breathing peacefully and sleeping soundly only a minute ago.
As the years go by, you continue to tell this story to your family, your children, and your grandchildren. Over time it becomes harder and harder for you to convince people. Nowadays you are written off as "senile" and "crazy". Young schoolchildren make up campfire stories about you, saying that you're a witch.
Yet some say, when you dare to venture into the canyon again, you swear you can hear the song, echoing in the walls of the clay fortress.
Every night when you sleep, the only thing you see is the figure of the woman- dancing gracefully across your eyelids and playing her beautiful, healing song.

Im Puerto Rican and while i dont say im native american, there were indigenous peoples in the carribean who likely migrated there from south america. The Taino. Not much is known about them but they influenced both the Spanish and the English, and were the first people that the Spanish met among arrival in the Carribean.
Im proud to have Native indigenous blood. I look at my nose and see its the nose my grandfather had, and the nose of a Taino. I look at my almond shaped eyes and my tan skin, and its a portal to my genetic history.
Native culture is beautiful. In a way all cultures have beauty.
Lets not hate friends. Lets not destroy one another and risk losing more of our histories.

Proud Aztec here. Music like this truly touches my soul. I needed this. I've been through so much pain and heartbreak lately. My anxiety and depression has been very high. And although I have family and very few friends, I feel alone. My best friend hasn't been talking to me much. She was the only person that would talk and hang out with me. But lately, she's been very distant. And I fear it's because I scared her away because I have strong feelings for her. And I'm terrified to develop feelings for someone because I've had my heart broken so many times. And to top it off, I need surgery on my lower spine. I've been in alot of pain for almost two years cuz my insurance fucks around too much. Sorry for rambling on so much. I just needed to let off some steam. This music is doing wonders for me.

This flute music really changed my life! I'm in a recovery program aswell a part time college student and I get into my homework or when I pick up the bible I put this on and it takes me into peace and harmony. I'm focus and it gives me great energy and I feel alive and that I can do all things as long as I can believe it will happen! Love you all

I fell asleep while listening to this music and I had two tealight candies burning I woke up just before they burned out but the candle flames stood tall and the flames danced with the flute I watched both candle flames dance to the music. I felt so protected and really amazed at watching the flames dance with the flute playing.

My great grandmother taught me the flute young,, oh I miss her! 😢 I'll be 40 yrs old next year . She lived till 99 years old and was 100% cherokee indian. I have the way of there life that flows through me . I was takin to powos since I was 2 yesterday old I'll never forget it that is why I love flutes and rain sticks! 🪶

I saw this beautiful pic of a girl Native of American that I felt in love “I said to her if no one buys u, u will come home with me” the next day she was home 😳 it happen because the person selling a furniture of her deceased mother it happen to be the owner of the frame, my husband saw it n felt in love n she gave it to him n that’s how she is n my home.
