Thank you! It worked fine. I used a 2mm sheet metal and the dowels turned out great. Only thing is you have to make the holes 0,5mm bigger than the dowel you intend to make. Cheers!

Very nice. What I like about your setup, is that it can be used in ANY shop. It's simply a plate that can go in any vice. Especially handy for those times when you need a dowel, and don't want to run to the hardware store. If you haven't already, you should think about marketing the little tool (unless they're already out there).
Thank you for an interesting and informative video. I did just notice one thing: The whole jig is made left-handed so that the drill must rotate in the "unscrew" direction. This may require "electric drill - screwdrivers" to propel the wood. It can be made for the "screw in" direction by (a) inclining the hacksaw to the right and not to the left and (b) bending the cutting portion from the opposite side of the plate.
I got one of these (broken) in with a bunch of tools at a garage sale. I was wondering how to use it then realized that the person who made it used an old chisel and the broken bit was the largest hole plus handle. How they managed to drill through that quality of chisel I would like to know as it equates to HSS or tool steel quality. Going by the rest of the tools (after the person's funeral) this was made either before W2 or just after. Reasoning he was in his 90's when he passed and would have access to the tooling that could cope with the job. I enjoy using the rest of the tools I got from the garage sale I also know I didn't get most of them as he'd left them to his grandsons. I hope they enjoy using them as much as I do for the one's I was lucky to get.
As a second thought: If it were made from angle iron or steel, the jig wouldn't deform as it did at 3:24. The material used here was "Black iron" or known in France as «Laminé». A more serviceable result might be obtained using "Bright steel" known in France as «Étiré».
Once again another great video. I love all your videos. What kind of Table saw is this and where can i get one.. I want to start Kumiko hobby and this is a perfect table saw for me.. Great work
Un accesorio más para el taller. Perfecto. Gracias.
You dont need the split in the hole, but drilling an undersized hole then using a reemer to take it to finnish size will give you a better finnish on your dowls. I guess there are a dozen ways to bake a potato this is one of the ways to make a dowl . As cheap as dowls are unless your using some special material in wood then this is an option. But let's understand the use for a dowl on a joint. Lets say you pound this into a screw hole to hold a door frame hing screw thats long grain to end grain joint Like using a golf T its not going to be a very strong joint. Your better off a long grain to long grain patch over a larger area it will have more strength. As end grain sucks up glue befor it can bond properly. A dowl to hold end grain to end grain works but a wider long grain surface will be stronger like the difference of a dowl And dimino the festool dimino has more long grain surface area. A spline joint would be stronger. Dowls have there uses, and they can look good on a project. Work with the wood and dont fight its properties and your project will last longer.

I just like to see all the hand made tools he has, and omg, i've never seen a cleaner shop!!!! Thanks for sharing your skills!

You've literally just saved me so much money thank you so much for the work you have shown , I am so appreciative of your work thank you again
I made this jig today. It works. Not the best finish but very consistent in size. Thanks for the video.
In fact, not a sleek finish works better as a dowel

Excelente aporte.
I love how he actually uses the tools he makes.
Hi
I'm going to make one, I like what he has done. Nice job. 👍
Everything you do is smart well done keep it up Mr Smart
Amazing.... simples maked dowel.... good job 👍
A very different take on a dowel jig. Great! However, you should add something to support the dowel going out; it would make the dowels more even.
I would say a supported PVC tubing I was thinking the same thing
I like your marking tools
Awesome. Especially on your kids first table saw.
EZ Cut Saw
Bom dia. Sua precisão é ótima. É um prazer ver você trabalhar. Parabéns.
Simply one of the best youtube channel.
Thanks for sharing. great video.
wow really creative. good luck guys
I want that split clamp, it's genius
Mantap jiwa kawan..... Terus berkarya
Good job ❤
Interesting video, but a couple of tips, use cutting oil when cutting metal and when using a hacksaw have one hand on each end .

Lightly sand those saw-cut ends to a slight taper. Makes for a much cleaner and easier fit. Wonderful content, very nice presentation style!
Uma boa ideia, parabéns. Fortaleza, Brasil.
GREAT IDEA NICE JOB... THANK YOU... POR COMPARTIR.

Good job 😀😀
30 years ago, I did...and 29 years ago already ran through a die for carving...the result is amazing..!!!
Agree

I’m making this tomorrow :) many thanks
That's amazing...thanks so much for your video, goodluck and get successful. Best regards from Indonesia
Nice Job. Thanks for sharing. ;-)
Legal amigo .
Brilliant...!
Thank you.
Sooo helpful...thank u bro God bless u more
I'm want to make one. 🙏🏼👍🏻
Great work
Alternatively, use a half of a door hinge. Just drill the screw holes to progressively larger sizes and go from there.
Big D did you try it before? can you explain more pls
@@qawsedrf7678 Same concept as the video, but easier to modify.
Big D oh i thought going through the hinges😬😂 thanks
@@qawsedrf7678 Yes, going through the holes.
Ah, great idea!

C très très jolie bravo et merci
Thanks

Well done. As usually
I like your handmade or custom made tools and attachment to use a simple tool like hand grinder became Miter saw
Really helpful bro
Nice👍
WICKED COOL little chop saw that you made there!
(EDIT) AWESOME handmade tools in general! ! ! You ROCK !
Gostei do vídeo
I bit of sanding (round over) of the dowels edges will help allot
On smaller dowels, an old pencil sharpener does a great job of this. Just bevel the edge slightly.
