How to make a Dowels Maker
- Hello friends
I made a tool to make dowels.
Make a hole with a drill with the same diameter as the required dowel and cut with an iron saw.
Although the surface of the dowel is rough, it is more useful than commercial products because the adhesive works well.
Also, dowels can be made with stable dimensions.
I actually tried it and it was fine.

You've literally just saved me so much money thank you so much for the work you have shown , I am so appreciative of your work thank you again
I made this jig today. It works. Not the best finish but very consistent in size. Thanks for the video.
I just like to see all the hand made tools he has, and omg, i've never seen a cleaner shop!!!! Thanks for sharing your skills!
You have the cleanest hands in the world.
Excelente aporte.
Simply one of the best youtube channel.
Thank you! It worked fine. I used a 2mm sheet metal and the dowels turned out great. Only thing is you have to make the holes 0,5mm bigger than the dowel you intend to make. Cheers!
Less talk more actions loving your techniques, tools, and simplicity

All your tools n jigs are homemade and fantastic quality too. Great
30 years ago, I did...and 29 years ago already ran through a die for carving...the result is amazing..!!!
Agree
Very nice. What I like about your setup, is that it can be used in ANY shop. It's simply a plate that can go in any vice.
Especially handy for those times when you need a dowel, and don't want to run to the hardware store. If you haven't already, you should think about marketing the little tool (unless they're already out there).
Bom dia. Sua precisão é ótima. É um prazer ver você trabalhar. Parabéns.
Thanks for the video, Sir.
Great work!
Thank you for an interesting and informative video.
I did just notice one thing:
The whole jig is made left-handed so that the drill must rotate in the "unscrew" direction. This may require "electric drill - screwdrivers" to propel the wood.
It can be made for the "screw in" direction by (a) inclining the hacksaw to the right and not to the left and (b) bending the cutting portion from the opposite side of the plate.
Lightly sand those saw-cut ends to a slight taper. Makes for a much cleaner and easier fit. Wonderful content, very nice presentation style!
*I like itsss...💓💓💓👍👍👍💪*
From : Adirio / *Indonesia*

I love how he actually uses the tools he makes.
Hi
A very different take on a dowel jig. Great! However, you should add something to support the dowel going out; it would make the dowels more even.
I would say a supported PVC tubing I was thinking the same thing
GREAT IDEA NICE JOB... THANK YOU... POR COMPARTIR.
Brilliant...!
Thank you.

Thanks
Well done. As usually
Perfect i like it
Alternatively, use a half of a door hinge. Just drill the screw holes to progressively larger sizes and go from there.
Big D did you try it before? can you explain more pls
@@qawsedrf7678 Same concept as the video, but easier to modify.
Big D oh i thought going through the hinges😬😂 thanks
@@qawsedrf7678 Yes, going through the holes.
Ah, great idea!
wow really creative. good luck guys
Un accesorio más para el taller. Perfecto.
Gracias.
Love all your work! How much money have you spent on such nice plywood for all these amazing projects?
Great work
Fabulous!
I got one of these (broken) in with a bunch of tools at a garage sale. I was wondering how to use it then realized that the person who made it used an old chisel and the broken bit was the largest hole plus handle. How they managed to drill through that quality of chisel I would like to know as it equates to HSS or tool steel quality. Going by the rest of the tools (after the person's funeral) this was made either before W2 or just after. Reasoning he was in his 90's when he passed and would have access to the tooling that could cope with the job. I enjoy using the rest of the tools I got from the garage sale I also know I didn't get most of them as he'd left them to his grandsons. I hope they enjoy using them as much as I do for the one's I was lucky to get.
Verry good job...!
Muito bom!
I like your marking tools
Good job 😀😀
very nice dowel
Good video as always! You really do need a more powerful drill in your press though, it bogs down so easily.

Once again another great video. I love all your videos. What kind of Table saw is this and where can i get one.. I want to start Kumiko hobby and this is a perfect table saw for me..
Great work
I guess it is a small table saw from Proxxon.
Good job ❤
Interesting video, but a couple of tips, use cutting oil when cutting metal and when using a hacksaw have one hand on each end .
I bit of sanding (round over) of the dowels edges will help allot
On smaller dowels, an old pencil sharpener does a great job of this. Just bevel the edge slightly.

Very good.
Without an alignment block ahead of the cutter to keep the dowel concentric you're going to produce undersized owls as your angle is not precisely axial. If you look at the other dowel cutting designs they incorporate this for good reason.
Once again 😊very neat and patiently you are demonstrating the jig- love it!! What thickness is the steel plate ? If you don't mind me asking 😊 Thank you so much . Love your work .
It's normal steel plate 4mm
@@robinjitsingh3733 , thank you so very much for your reply 😊
@@MultiTom1956 your welcome 👍👍👌
Super 👍
Nice stuff.
Had to subscribe after watching the video for just a minute .
The fastest subscribe so far by me
😉
Make the stand for the drill machine, to make the dowel looks great..

Remarkably simple! How do you like your Proxxon table saw? I’ve heard good things about them despite their tiny size!
As a second thought:
If it were made from angle iron or steel, the jig wouldn't deform as it did at 3:24. The material used here was "Black iron" or known in France as «Laminé». A more serviceable result might be obtained using "Bright steel" known in France as «Étiré».
Brilliant
Nice, I made one by scrap iron
Thank you for sharing this great tool and technique! May I please ask - I have seen the speed square you use in this video in a couple of other projects you have made too (7:36 mark in this video), are you able to share where these might be purchased from please?
Peter Clahsen She uses a Shinwa. I have one too and am very happy with it.
