It's the role of the church to give back to the people, so If a church isn't giving back to the community blame the committee not the pastor, or is it only the pastor heading the church?
One more thing, this world is a journey to heaven so they're not being promised heaven, heaven is a placed were destined to be but the way we live determines whether we'll reach that destination. Before you talk down servants of God who prophesy or perform miracles remember that they are gifts of the spirit. They come from God himself. Jesus Christ did them, the apostles did them and we have been given the privilege to share in what they were doing. Even the Bible says we shall do greater works than Jesus did, OH Jesus himself said so.
