    Zack, put Mt.Washington on your list in New Hampshire. Wild experience that is absolutely off the charts. I went in July2022. Was 94° at the base but 6,000 feet above on top, the temperature was 41° and super windy. All I can say to anyone driving up the mountain is : say your prayers- wear depends because you'll poop your pants 80 times over and do not look on the passenger side of the car because no guard rails to keep you from tumbling down. Takes 25 minutes to drive up but 90 minutes to drive down using first gear only. Brakes will be cherry hot but if anyone can drive up and down this mountain- it is the ultimate driving experience. It is slightly less then 2 hours northwest of Boston.

      I drove up & down Mount Washington in October 1994 in a small automatic rented Hyundai...i think an Elantra. Beautiful drive & views😍😍...hand it in low gear most of the way down,& had to use the brakes! 🤣🤣 There were some snow drifts up on the top,it had snowed a few days earlier.

      Some it has the world's worst weather. Been up there twice by car or you can take a small train.

    I did a full day tour in a Red Bus in 2016. It crossed GTTSR twice out and back. It was a great way to see the sights and not worry about parking or a day pass. Being a solo passenger, I was in front next to the driver for great views. The return trip was through fog and heavy rain at times. The big red bus handled it quite well, although with the fog, it wasn't as scary with no views of the valley way below. :)

    Fantastic video and I think your best video to date, though I have not seen every one of your videos.

    Great documentary. It's amazing that they lasted so long in their original condition but putting them on a modern chassis makes sense. The Ford steering wheel and dashboard looks weird though.
    If you ever make it out to Hershey, PA, be sure to check out the AACA Museum. They have a 1930s White sedan that's basically a four-door bus. A millionaire wanted a new White sedan but at that time White had stopped making cars so they put a shortened bus body on their lightest truck frame.

    This is a great video! I never knew these existed. I’ve been to Yellowstone when I was a teen, but never noticed any busses like these, and my dad’s been to Glacier, but he never mentioned these Red Jammers, or perhaps I wasn’t listening 🤭

    my favorite national park buses are the shuttles at zion national park. they're cute little el dorado high-floors, with a powered bus in front and a trailer bus towed behind it. IIRC, during the busy season they're the only vehicles allowed on the narrow road between the visitors center and the main trailheads. i think they're adorable and look like little road trains! would love to see videos about them

    Awesome video! Very interesting! When I went to school in Pittsburgh, they had these vehicles that could go on land and water and were called Ducky Tours. I hear they're really old military vehicles. That would be another cool video.

      A lot of Duck Tours used WWII surplus DUKWs. They're not that safe so a lot of tours have moved to newer amphibious buses.

    I was thinking of a classic Corvette or maybe a late 60s Cadillac. Even some Jaguars and other classics were in the mix. Now, it's decided. Have to have a Red Jammer. Might even be able to park it in my driveway.

    In 1999 the white vans that substituted for the Red Jammers were about as exciting as watching paint dry. I heard that Jay Leno learned his non-synchromesh shifting technique from the Glacier Park Red Jammers ( and he still hasn’t figured it out).

    • @travelingwithrick

      You basically double clutch each gear and time it with road speed. Not easy.

    • @bcgrittner
      @bcgrittner 19 дней назад +1

      @@travelingwithrick I’m aware. I first started double-clutching a 1946 Ford pickup. I’ve driven old Jeeps with no synchro on 1st gear. I owned a 1958 Morris Minor 1000 with a non-synchro 1st gear. My over-the-road semis were all non-synchronized transmissions. I’m getting on in age, but some things you never forget.
