At first I thought, in my utter ignorance (a very long time ago), "An Englishman playing Spanish classical Guitar?". Well, after I'd heard this completely astounding genius play Bach, Sor, Tarrega and then... Django Reinhardt, I was immediately converted to a disciple, like St. Paul in the desert. "That's what I want!", was my reply to this deceptively relaxed and humble artist. He became my guide through the maze of guitar music. He was Virgil to my Dante'. Like Diogenes, who set out into the night, with his lantern, to find an "honest man". Upon discovering Julian Bream, my trek was at an end. Thank you Julian. You opened so many doors for all of us. With love.
Certainly a legendary guitar player. But for a heightened level of awe and amazement, view any of Joscho Stephans RUclips clips. He is absolutely astounding. Best wishes from Toronto!
Bream didn't just play spanish guitar but english lute and cricket as well. We may notice Bream played with long fingernails which produces a brighter attack to the note. When playing cricket he took to wearing heavily armoured gloves after getting his hand smacked a few times.
@@jeffslade1892 Jeff………people have commented I must be using those same padded gloves when I play guitar……… (I’m actually an amateur clarinet player-jazz mostly-but I had a few LP’s of Julian Bream when I was a lad. Can’t recall the content.).
Yep, it's official: Bream is the Most Soulful Classical Guitarist in History. The performance of this Django Reinhardt composition by these two reminds me, profoundly, of the recordings of Los Indios Tabajaras... ...and, by making that comparison, I don't know which duo is getting the greater compliment.
holy crap its Julian Bream!!!! i never even knew videos of this guy existed i just knew him from that exercise they all made us do in classical guitar in high school
What a genius he was! I didn't even imagine he could play gypsy jazz! And so well, with a great touch and feeling too! I've always known and admired him only as a classical guitarist, I'm really amazed!
Awsome Video Presentation! ...I went to one of his Concerts in Manchester around this time !...He was just so into his Guitar! ..Really passionate melodic Compositions !...

This is the kind of thing we used to watch on TV in the '70's.
Modern day TV gives me a headache.
If Julian isn't playing now in heaven with Django I don't wan't to go
Got that right mate!

@@laurielyon7740 Completely different styles. Apples and oranges, but both obviously masters in their own musical genre.

Yes Los Indios were or are still in the hearts of every classical guitarist that knows of great duets in of clasical guitar or just music in general!!

You probably have discovered by now that there is lots of Julian Bream videos on RUclips. Mostly all classical....
What a genius he was! I didn't even imagine he could play gypsy jazz! And so well, with a great touch and feeling too! I've always known and admired him only as a classical guitarist, I'm really amazed!
He played jazz, as did his Father and was influenced by Django before he moved on to classical playing and the lute.
There's another video on here somewhere of him playing jazz as a young chap (he even has hair!) - worth looking for.
He played Jazz guitar as well
While he was struggling he played jazz to make money.
so so cool...from de falla to django...what beauty and inspiration...awesome post
What an utter genius
i love julian bream...

My god, that was wonderful. No words......
Un maestro, homenajeando a otro maestro...
So beautiful.
He did a bend !
Love love love this!!! I actually named my son after him and Segovia: Julian Andres Vazquez
Nice, and it sounds pretty good together too
Now let's just wait for the skills :)
Great name!
Omar Miguel such a coincidence .so did I. My son is Julian Andrew....after Julian bream and Andres segovia xx
Jennifer Bate oh cool!!
Gracias a Julian Bream por toda su inspiración
Excellent!
Wow.. awesome as always is Bream with his Gypsy Jazz touch quite different from the Classical one..👏🎶😊
Wonderful! Thank you.
Masterful
That you for this awesome post...
I like the gear and venue. No earplugs no broken backs.
Bravo!!!
Very Important Sound Playng. .. Nice One ... ☺😊😀/👍👌👏
Bream supreme
I’m not a jazz aficionado but this sounds pretty good to me.
It is superb isn't it! What a shame Julian didn't do more jazz performances alongside the classical pieces.
Holy crap, he can Django too
Django was his first inspiration before the classical guitar.
I would imagine he could play whatever he wanted.
This is definitely something I'd never expect to see lol
Extra;
Je pouce-bleuise... !
Miraculous
The best thing about Django Reinhardt's guitar playing is that it sounds like it was being played with no effort at all.
I read the title as “Nujabes”, thought it was some Samurai Champloo music or something. ... But this is really good too!
RIP
Canela fina ...
What happened to the other guitarist?
What do you mean?

No, it's a hen house
Barulhento......
Brilliant. But doesn't swing the way Django did.
Of course Django was the best in his jazz!
No one could swing like Django!
Yeah, but Django only had 2 fingers and a thumb on his left hand.
He’s amazing guitarist but sounds like a classical player playing it.
And that’s good enough for me!!!
because it's exactly what it is, so what?
