Hey cami, tuanks for the great succint video. In your other comment you said that you left alt and got a recruiter job in tokyo, if you dont mind telling could you tell how you got it? Becsuse i want to move form alt too if i ever get it. Becsuse i cant see doing it for logn term
Great video. Do you speak Japanese fluently? I just ask because i saw you reading the lunch menu and also that you are now a recruiter, which is amazing
There was training for one week from early in the morning until around 5 pm I think. You practice teaching different grade levels and learn about how different grade levels learn best
Hi, Cami! I'm Teacher Salve from the Philippines. I also want to be an ALT in Japan. I just do not know my initial steps yet. Hope you can enlighten me somehow. Thanks for the content that you share :) Thank you for all that you do!
As far as initial steps go I just went to the interac website and sent in an application and they followed up from there! It’s quite simple to do and they guide you along the way!
Hi Cami, Are there any tips you can share about cities to pick from when applying, schools, anything, choice of driving or taking the train . I have just started applying
Hi! Honestly, these companies rarely give you the city you pick. I also researched a lot and didn't pick tokyo because i assumed i wouldnt be placed here anyways yet its what i got!
Hello Cami, I am teacher Jen from the Philippines. I also want to be an Alt in Japan. Thanks for this content. Is it required to study Japanese language before they can hire Alt teachers? Hoping for your response to this. Thank you
The schools have a contract with Interac so I wouldn’t be allowed to work with them unless I was with Interac! I still live in Tokyo, I just changed my job
@@Cami-ep8kd cool, and now that you live in Tokyo, do you use social media to show the daily life or common jobs specifically there (maybe for non native Japanese speakers)? By the way, do you speak Spanish?
it depends, my job was in tokyo but the company put me in Saitama for cheaper rent. I moved to tokyo by myself and my rent was 79000 yen a month. it was like 55000 yen in saitama though
Am I able to apply to be an ALT through Interac right now? How long did the whole process take for you between applying and actually going? I just graduated with my bachelor's from university and I'd be really interested in teaching English abroad in Japan as soon as I could get a placement there :)
You can apply to be an ALT right now but I’m not sure if new people are allowed to enter Japan right now so your application may be put on hold until Japan’s borders open up again! I did another video on the timeline process that talks about how long each step took!
So my salary is only ¥9500 (~$95) higher than a normal Interac employee and that’s not because I’m placed in Tokyo, it’s because the BOE that I work for wants me to work until 4:45 pm, whereas other ALTs usually finish work at 3:30 pm! So I have other Interac ALT friends in Tokyo that don’t make the extra ¥9500 because their BOE doesn’t need them until 4:45 pm. Tokyo is more expensive but I live in a share house so it’s cheaper :)
@@Greg-uq8ng yeah my commute home is always so crowded! I actually stopped working for Interac this March so I won’t continue being an ALT but I’ll stay in Tokyo!
There have been incidents in the past where men groped women on the train so they created a women’s only train for just a small time in the morning during rush hour to keep women safe from that during their commute to work!
Hello. i am thinkinhg of applying to this but a little worried. i am disbelieved - walking disbalance and and muslim women. i wanted to ask if this teaching in japan would be good for me as i have never been. i only eat halal food and don't drive. what sort of help and assistance could they apply for someone like me. hope you can help and thank you for sharing your video :D
I love the tradition of taking off your outside shoes and putting on your inside shoes. I practice it at my home, but Tio Paul does not!
Omg you used to teach at Taimei?? I’ve passed that school from the outside and it’s so beautiful and in such a gorgeous neighbourhood! So lucky!
Yes I loved it :)
@@Cami-ep8kd are you still at interac?
New subscriber!!! Thanks a lot! Very informative. Now I know how to use those machines and which size of paper to use 😂. ++ dang, you’re beautiful!

Did they give you sufficient training when you started or was it a case of throwing you in the deep end and seeing how you did?

Hi there nice video! Does Interac provide shakai hokken for their ALTs?
It depends on the contract you get with them!

I saw in another reply that you stopped being an ALT but you'll stay in Tokyo, may I ask what you are working as currently? :)
Hi! Yeah I’m currently a recruiter for financial institutions in Tokyo
@@Cami-ep8kd That sounds interesting! Thank you for the reply!

After stop working for interac, do you still work at the same schools? Or you don’t teach anymore and still live in Tokyo?

You don't take shower in the morning? Only wash face?
Usually I shower the night before because I’m too tired in the morning and short on time
It’s crazy how people don’t shower BEFORE going to bed. Bringing all those germs from the day into your bed 🤢
