For photographers, we all run into plateaus and dry spells at some point. I had a really big mental block when the summer started to end, and I felt lost. This conversation about abstract photography and self-assignments sparked an idea that saved my photography from this rut. I never dabble in metaphorical work with experimental film stocks like kodak aerochrome, lomo purple, or lomo turquoise.
Each art form is a new language to learn; my photographic vocabulary far exceeds my spoken one. However, there are definitely those times when I want to express myself with more complexity, and the "words" just aren' there. If you've ever felt that, this conversation might be insightful.

What does your photography say about your expression? Is it a focused personality? A scattered one? An echo of someone else?
Let me know right here.
Scholarly speaking those are Modern concerns. Modernity ended, roughly in the 1950s, and a few argues that the curoisity behind your question was satisfied by the F64 group.
One of those conversations that make you think about your own photography or why you even do it to begin with. Great talk. I've been seeing a lot of Sissi recently in the RUclips space and hope she gives us more videos of her work and perspective.
I think everyone needs to constantly think about why they do what they do. It’s truly the thought that counts :)
Chris, I am drawn to your channel because you have created a connection with my sense of curiosity and creativity. You appear to just be yourself and nothing else when you appear here on camera. It’s refreshing for sure… Sissi Lu, wow, I have seen a couple of RUclips interviews now with her and I am absolutely enchanted by her personality and her work. Thank you for a great interview and conversation about how you and Sissi create your work and the meaning behind it.
thank you for the love. curiosity is what keeps me going!
I really enjoyed this, just the talk about pure photography and learning things about your own work through conversation is too good. I’m fortunate to have these types of conversations with my girlfriend because when I first started I didn’t know how to describe my work but talking with her helped me understand what I was doing without intention however subconsciously doing it. 3 years in I still have these convos with her making it to the point that my work runs through subconsciousness yet my execution is through intention. Keep it up with these interviews! They’re too good
having a partner to talk with at that depth is such a gift. art at its very core is an extension of your thoughts & feelings, so having that constant "chipping" process through convos or introspection is what's going to make it better imo. cheers to you
@@whoschrischu Hellyeah fam, couldn’t agree more 🥲
Wow such a great talk. This deserves so much more views. You’re a great conversationalist who lets the other speak so freely Chris
Absolutely loved this! Really enjoy her work. Thank you for conducting this interview so well.
A fantastic conversation. This gives me so much to think about. Thank you both!
Really enjoying this series sitting down with photographers I've been following for some time now
Hearing their ideologies and methodologies is refreshing. Thanks for doing this work, man
these are real convos I have with these people, so it’s cool to share it with all of you ❤
Such as beautiful conversation! Thank you Chris and Sissi!
I love this series you’re doing and I’m really enjoying watching your progression as an interviewer.
Glad you enjoy it! Still trying my best in driving convos
@@whoschrischu You’re killing it, Dood!
That’s a great talk! Enjoying so much hearing thoughts on this medium expression.
This is a beautiful conversation. Thanks for this!
Chris your productions are fantastic
This is a delightful interview. Bravo. And… apropos of nothing, thank you for using a lav mic properly, rather than holding it or clipping it to your shoes or something.
15:55 Would love to hear a Chris Chu playlist from some of these songs you're describing man!

Love your work, just wondering what lut do you use for your videos? Thanks!

I love this discussion.
How are the shots with the reddish cast created? I shoot this way sometimes, and I was wondering how someone else creates this way.
Kodak Aerochrome but my roll was kinda busted
@@whoschrischu I use a yellow filter on my Fujifilm X100f and Vivid setting.
@eatenbyflowers is a very cool dude! He knows what photography is and he makes just that! He really doesn't care about gear! He knows how to create photos!

Interesting conversation but I did not like that music behind.
How does she make money out of it?
