- We travel to the South Pole -- in Ireland -- to investigate the life of Tom Crean, an unsung hero of early polar exploration. Felicity Aston, a veteran of several Antarctic expeditions herself, heads to Tom's pub, the South Pole Inn, to meet his grandson and find out more about Tom's adventures and his dream of coming home and opening his own pub.
And 'An Unsung Hero - Thomas Crean - an Antarctic Survivor' is a brilliant read...
Well done, times are changing more and more people are becoming aware of Toms life and times.
"We may have had great men, but we'll seldom have better."
A true hero. Thank you so much for posting this.........
So true
Many thanks for sharing.
I would recommend Michael Smith's book An Unsung Hero .
We had a few elite heroes in our family here in Hereford. We resonate with the story...
I would be very interested in the local Hereford hero's . I live in Canada now but I did my apprenticeship at Steels which became Lex Mead and then back to Steels . I was born between Newent and Ledbury .
@@shaunmckenna1923 Ho there - hello. An old comment but you've picked it up. Good to hear of your early years here. I was of course speaking about the SAS - my father served in the regiment for 22 years. All the best. Mark
