As a student and a cosplayer, you have just saved me a TON of money (money which I don't have lol), thanks! It was super nice of you to provide the template for free :) You also explain/show it in an easy-to-understand way, and I actually kind of like the fact that there is no music: I can play my own that way. Techno/dubstep music went really well with these videos, even though it isn't to Star-Lord's liking as much XD So thanks again, you rock!
Hey! I am making this for Halloween and I ran into a huge problem. I used single wall cardboard from an amazon box and when I try and bend it it doesn't bend good. Then I realized maybe you have to cut the cardboard so the slit things are going horizontal. So my question is does it matter which way the things go inside the cardboard? And are your boxes weaker or something???
so i printed this, and i made the first headpiece {no mouth area}. So when i get to getting the mouth thing both pieces are bigger than the mouth area? any suggestions?
WHOA! Thanks, bro, i was thinking about doing it in pepakura, but i think it would be much laborious and as always you gave a much better solution! I really enjoy your channel, Dali, keep it up!
Hi, I would like to build this helmet for the Paris Comic Con but I don't understand how to choose the size of the template (even if I read your FAQS and Head Measurements pages). Could you help me please? I measured my head with the homemade caliper but some measures are bigger than yours and some others are smaller so... How do I know if I need to increase or decrease the template? For example, where your measure is 215mm, mine is 219mm but where you have 175mm (head width between ears), I only got 165mm. I guess my head is normal (well, I hope so ^^) so, I don't understand. Anyway, thank you very much for the video and I hope you'll be able to help me :)
Hi!! Thz 4 make this video i tink this mask is awesome !! I have the custome but i dont wanted to spend more in a mask and this mask is perfect and easy to make .. This video is gonna help me a lot thzzz

I have dreadlocks and so 1. I need to account for that. Any suggestions?? 2. I don't have a styrofoam headlike you do. Is the "head" your exact measurements??
yes, this template fit my head & the head form is exactly my size dali-lomo.blogspot.com/p/head-measurements.html you can do a open-back mask, meaning remove the back piece & connect the back with elastic band
I want to try to make this for my boyfriend for his birthday (He already has the jacket) however I just have one question. What are the pros and cons to using cardboard as opposed to foam? which has a longer life but is also easier to work with. I have never made anything like this before... And the way this turned out seems amazing...but i don't want it to fall apart after he wears it a few times you know? any pointers?
Jessica Charnov i can't say pros & cons, but i myself prefer cardboard & paper, because lot of antique made of paper-mache lasted 100 years, so i guess paper is not a bad choice. i don't think it will fall apart as long as not use underwater, seal it neatly with layers of spray paint i guess it should stand rain & sweat very well, btw good paper-mache process is the key to long lasting, do it correctly it can be as strong as wood, since paper is made of wood fiber :)
this is amazing, what software did you used to make the templates? i know in rhinoceros you can squish surfaces to get templates, but yours are different, they are like origami perfect templates.
Hey! Remember when you had to use a different color to print because your printer was out of black? How did you do that? Was it a thing that you could do just because of your printer? Or is it something I can do in Pepakura designer?

I have a couple of questions... -Can I use foam? If so , will regular craft foam work ( as in not EVA Foam). Any answer would be appreciated! Especially from you Dali! ; )
Rather than giving your measurements in diameters, length etc, what is your head circumference round your temples? I don't have any calipers to measure my head diameter but I do have a tape measure that I can wrap round my head.
Since the cardboard is pretty thick, how do you join the pieces when they meet at an angle? Wouldn't they only touch along one edge and leave a gap on the other side? Hope I'm being clear. Do I have to cut along the edge of my cardboard or something to make the two pieces fit properly?
Thanks for replying! I see. But wouldn't you still end up with a mask that is a bit misshapen because of these extra gaps, even if they're smoothed out later? Do you suggest cutting the cardboard a little smaller than the drawn-out shapes? Or am I making a big fuss over nothing, and the final product looks fine despite these little imperfections?
Christopher Hayes 1) you can cut angle before you hot glue, which i usually don't. 2) you can fill up gaps with hot glue 3) paper-mache over gaps to hide them :)

Do you print all the templates out on just regular sized paper? And is it thicker paper or just normal?
Humza Shahzad, maybe you can use a balloon, but i would still suggest you make a dummy heat :)
#20: Manikin Head DIY 1/3
Thanks
Nice job. I plan on doing this myself and I was wandering what alternatives could Instead of a hot glue gun. Would white glue work or super-glue?
Hot glue is best for making prop helmeted
White glue definitely won't work, super-glue would be extremely messy. It's best just to get a hot glue gun, it's a good investment.
you can use a hot glue gun but in a low range of heat if you dont wanna hurt you´re self
laughingboy1999
hot glue gun = best option
super glue = make me dizzy
white glue = much much longer to dry

Hi there, could you use the same method of folding on the template lines on 10mm EVA foam?
But does it fit a head inside
here instagram.com/p/zOW0BqDyAK/
Would it work the same with EVA Foam? The template on using for it at the moment isn't working out well.

It would be a big help if you posted a picture of the back of the helmet on your blog...and maybe a 360 view of it when you finish the cardboard stage
