    As a student and a cosplayer, you have just saved me a TON of money (money which I don't have lol), thanks! It was super nice of you to provide the template for free :) You also explain/show it in an easy-to-understand way, and I actually kind of like the fact that there is no music: I can play my own that way. Techno/dubstep music went really well with these videos, even though it isn't to Star-Lord's liking as much XD So thanks again, you rock!

    Hey! I am making this for Halloween and I ran into a huge problem. I used single wall cardboard from an amazon box and when I try and bend it it doesn't bend good. Then I realized maybe you have to cut the cardboard so the slit things are going horizontal. So my question is does it matter which way the things go inside the cardboard? And are your boxes weaker or something???

    Hi, I would like to build this helmet for the Paris Comic Con but I don't understand how to choose the size of the template (even if I read your FAQS and Head Measurements pages). Could you help me please?
    I measured my head with the homemade caliper but some measures are bigger than yours and some others are smaller so... How do I know if I need to increase or decrease the template? For example, where your measure is 215mm, mine is 219mm but where you have 175mm (head width between ears), I only got 165mm. I guess my head is normal (well, I hope so ^^) so, I don't understand.
    Anyway, thank you very much for the video and I hope you'll be able to help me :)

    I want to try to make this for my boyfriend for his birthday (He already has the jacket) however I just have one question. What are the pros and cons to using cardboard as opposed to foam? which has a longer life but is also easier to work with.
    I have never made anything like this before... And the way this turned out seems amazing...but i don't want it to fall apart after he wears it a few times you know? any pointers?

    • @DALILOMODIY
      @DALILOMODIY  9 лет назад +1

      Jessica Charnov i can't say pros & cons, but i myself prefer cardboard & paper, because lot of antique made of paper-mache lasted 100 years, so i guess paper is not a bad choice. i don't think it will fall apart as long as not use underwater,
      seal it neatly with layers of spray paint i guess it should stand rain & sweat very well, btw good paper-mache process is the key to long lasting, do it correctly it can be as strong as wood, since paper is made of wood fiber :)

    Since the cardboard is pretty thick, how do you join the pieces when they meet at an angle? Wouldn't they only touch along one edge and leave a gap on the other side? Hope I'm being clear.
    Do I have to cut along the edge of my cardboard or something to make the two pieces fit properly?

    • @DALILOMODIY
      @DALILOMODIY  10 лет назад

      Christopher Hayes you can cut an angle, but i usually just don't care about it, because i paper-mache it later, doesn't really matter :)

    • @hayesism
      @hayesism 10 лет назад

      Thanks for replying!
      I see. But wouldn't you still end up with a mask that is a bit misshapen because of these extra gaps, even if they're smoothed out later? Do you suggest cutting the cardboard a little smaller than the drawn-out shapes?
      Or am I making a big fuss over nothing, and the final product looks fine despite these little imperfections?

    • @DALILOMODIY
      @DALILOMODIY  10 лет назад

      Christopher Hayes 1) you can cut angle before you hot glue, which i usually don't.
      2) you can fill up gaps with hot glue
      3) paper-mache over gaps to hide them :)

      A damn man i al ready made it but with only one layer of cereal box. Should i put papel mache on it like 2 rounds and then after that put another round in the rough áreas? (Not the smooth Ones)

    • @DALILOMODIY
      @DALILOMODIY  9 лет назад +1

      focalocawai1 yes, papermache would be ideal, but make sure you put it on a head form to dry, because wet papermache might change its shape, so make sure it still fit your head after papermache :)

      thanks!! :) oh en by the way man my toilet paper roll is different in measures so more or les how long is the roll and whats its diameter? its the only thing i need to complete it :3

    • @DALILOMODIY
      @DALILOMODIY  9 лет назад

      focalocawai1 mine about 38mm in diameter, you can split the roll, connect them back to roughly 35 to 38mm diameter, then glue it :)

      Harley parker if PDF you can open with any computer, every computer should have PDF readers, try google it. if you download pdo, you need pepakura to open, free software as well, read this dali-lomo.blogspot.com/p/useful-resources.html :)

    Quick question: When you connect your edges, are you connecting them with angled edges that you cut or the default straight edge?

    • @DALILOMODIY
      @DALILOMODIY  9 лет назад

      Void Hakari sometimes, but not on this build, because i paper-mache over it later :)

      you can either scale it by this method dali-lomo.blogspot.com/p/head-measurements.html , or build it first then reduce the size later ruclips.net/video/w_g33mt_FnE/видео.html

    • @zedelstein2826

      I figured it out. For anyone else wondering, the one you'll want to print is the 4 xA4 PDF. That should print it at the correct size, at least, that was the only one that worked for me.
