I watched that moment several times. I think lead powder from the bullet struck the bolt heads and created it's own little plumes. I can't be left out of the puns so let's just say that's what you get with a bolt action firearm.

    • @EstebanGrasso

@@johnp9194 I was thinking that, but at 8:47 you can see the miniplums from the bolts before the debris of the bullet reach them, so I think that maybe the shockwave of the initial impact (that travel faster on steel that air) could make the target hit the bolts so hard that make those plumes. Again, not really sure what was that except for amazing.

Scot predicted where that gun was going to end up with such precision. Well done.
8:45 What amazes me so much about this, is that in my mind it has to start moving back at the moment of impact. Immediately. Yet it's so slow it looks like the bullet has already completely shattered and no longer touching the target before it visibly started to move. Like physics needed a moment to calculate the appropriate response of the force before it was actually applied to the target and the target moved.

Scott plus the Slow Mo guys is a perfect pairing, and you can see that both parties listen and learn a great deal from each other. Even though Scott has a massive amount of guns and experience, you can tell he is listening to and enjoying what he is being shown, and that even he can be surprised. A very humble man.

IT'S INCREDIBLE & important for younger people in gun countries to see people showing caution & having respect in regard to the weapons they're firing. Amazing how powerful this weapon is, it's like the Hippo of guns, 1 of 3? Wow, that's special. Bet you feel privileged for having been able to fire that Dan, & as Scott said, just to feel how intensively powerful it is just by standing close to it while being used.

We love guns too. We just don't think that so many people (or categories of people) should have one. There is a surprisingly high proportion of Brits who own firearms - just very few who own automatic rifles, and almost no handguns. Loads and loads of hunting rifles and shotguns though, because they have a use outside of shooting people. You can argue the importance of that however you want.
