I have that receiver hooked up to a pair of klipsh reference series, man, you can hear every note, every detail....great amp, I started with the 500, but at 75 watts a Chanel wasn't enough for me, same sound just the 700 has 100w per Chanel.
Nice setup!, I am running the exact same setup as you. Except, I don't have the same CD player. I really love my JBL L830's. They play really loud and they sound amazing! I usually keep my R-S700 in Pure Direct mode most of the time.

José Luis Ramírez These are worth the money and you will not be disappointed with them, I guarantee you. I do not know if they are better than the JBL Control 5 because I never heard them. Look at the reviews for the L830s, you will not find one bad review. Hope this helps.
I was considering the RS 500. Funny you should say that the 700 is bright. There seems to be too much emphasis on bass these days. Mid range and highs seem to not be as popular... depends on what music you like. And if it is really music you like or people yelling at you with beats (now called music).

Есть еще маранц сд6006, так вот ямаха его уделывает одной левой по звуку, несмотря на то что маранцик играет с диска а ямаха с флешки.
I have this receiver with two cerwin vega speakers and two yamaha speakers. The speakers are old. The CV speakers are ten years old but in great condition and I don't know how old the yamaha speakers are. I'm not happy at all with the sound of my unit and I don't know what to do right now. I tried to simply run the unit on the cv's but it sounded pretty bad with just the two speakers so I hooked up the yamahas and it sounds better. I thought the yamahas were damaged but I guess it was just the old Kenwood receiver that I got rid of. Our house, or the tree outside the house got hit by lightening a few years ago and it has taken me a long time to get around to getting a new stereo receiver. I don't know why but the sound is barely influenced by the turning of the treble and bass knobs. I hate all this complicated bullshit technology.

Great! I have, Yamaha 5cd changer and Yamaha home theater receiver and big speakers.
Damn....that disc drawer on the CD player is MILES quieter than the drawer of my $1K Panasonic UHD Blu ray deck.....

i run the RS-700 with the Energy CF-70 speakers.
i believe the yamaha is a bit over-bright.
