  • Col. (ret.) Lawrence Wilkerson's last positions in government were as Secretary of State Colin Powell's Chief of Staff (2002-05), Associate Director of the State Department's Policy Planning staff under the directorship of Ambassador Richard N. Haass, and member of that staff responsible for East Asia and the Pacific, political-military and legislative affairs (2001-02).
    -
Before serving at the State Department, Wilkerson served 31 years in the U.S. Army. During that time, he was a member of the faculty of the U.S. Naval War College (1987 to 1989), Special Assistant to General Powell when he was Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (1989-93), and Director and Deputy Director of the U.S. Marine Corps War College at Quantico, Virginia (1993-97). Wilkerson retired in 1997 and began work as an advisor to General Powell. He has also taught national security affairs at the George Washington University.

Sad for Lebanon, but they have been taken over by Hezbollah and have become just a tool used by Iran to attack Israel. Iran does not care if Lebanon is destroyed. Israel wants peace with Lebanon. But Iran and Hezbollah will decide, if they start a war that will see Lebanon burned to the ground.

Yes, You are absolutely right, Col Wilkerson , we, the real Europeans are not the warmongers and all we need is to live in normal, stable countries, where the wealth comes from our hard work, not from wars, where others gave their lives for our 'elites' to be rich. Zelensky didn't try to prevent the conflict through diplomacy because he lacks honor and integrity.
In 2014 there was a coup. Soon after, there was a massacre in Odessa (dozens of people were burned alive). Ethnic Russians living in Ukraine were treated as subhuman. Their language and culture was being oppressed. A civil war broke out due to the rise in ethnic tensions. For 8 years the Ukrainian military was indiscriminately shelling civilians living in Donbas.
If Zelensky honored the Minsk agreement and pledged neutrality, none of this would have happened. The 8 year civil war would have ended and Donbas would have remained part of Ukraine. War is the ultimate failure of diplomacy.
Zelensky, Poroshenko, Merkel and Hollande admitted that Ukraine had no intention to honor the Minsk agreements.
Who didn't want peace? Who advised against the 2022 peace talks in April? Hint: someone visited Zelensky in Kiev at that time
Russia's national security was compromised once NATO began to expand eastwards. Russia clearly stated that Ukraine joining NATO was a red line (November 2021) and unfortunately this concern was never taken seriously. The Russians openly stated: if nothing changes, we will be forced to act in order to defend our national security. Enhancing the national security of one country at the expense of another is unacceptable. The Russians have legitimate security concerns.
20th September, 2021: Ukraine launched military drills with US and NATO
NATO is not a defensive alliance. NATO illegally bombed Yugoslavia (a direct violation of the U.N. Charter).
We should never forget what they did to Libya, Afghanistan, Iraq etc.
Who blew up the pipeline causing an environmental disaster?
Zelensky banned all opposition and arrested a leading priest.
Zelensky tried to invoke article 5 under false pretenses. Remember the incident in Poland.
Ethnic Russians living in Ukraine were treated as subhuman. Their language and culture was being oppressed.
Poroshenko said, “Our children will go to schools and kindergartens-theirs will hide in the basements”.
Russians will never forget the 2014 Odessa massacre. The whole world needs to know about it.
Why was Denis Kireev eliminated? He was a member of Ukraine's negotiating team during the peace negotiations. He wanted to help his country.
Ukraine has a hit list. They target artists, journalists and ordinary citizens. Hundreds of children are on this list. 13 year old Faina Savenkova was placed on this list.
Pink Floyd's Roger Waters is on this list. Jimmy Dore (American stand-up comedian, podcaster) and Aaron Maté (Canadian writer and journalist) are on this list.
There is evidence that Ukrainian troops have been indiscriminately shelling civilians in Donbas (they used petal mines and targeted areas where there was no military presence).
The azov troops trapped in the azovstal steelworks in Mariupol used human shields. They refused to allow civilians to leave despite of humanitarian corridors being present.
Russia held a proposed cease fire in order for the civilians to leave, but azov would not allow the civilians to leave.
Ukraine has committed many acts of terrorism (car bombs and other forms of assassination). Darya Dugina (journalist) R.I.P.
The first terrorist attack on the Kerch bridge killed the truck driver and the individuals in the adjacent car (innocent civilian victims).
The second terrorist attack on the Kerch bridge killed two parents and severely injured their young daughter.
I have done a lot of research and it took me a long time to write this comment. I have stated a lot of facts and I have given my honest opinion.
I have provided a brief summary of events that took place. In order to explain this whole situation in great detail, a book would need to be written.
Hopefully someone will write an UNBIASED book, stating facts and allowing the readers to form their own judgments. Everything I said can be fact checked and verified.

To my mind NATO needs to make itself relevant. And to do so requires a so called ‘bad guy’. They have gone for the tried and tested tactic of labelling Russia as this bad guy. How else does one explain why they were gradually creeping eastwards absorbing former East European nations one after another, solely for the purpose of surrounding Russia with its former allies in the old Soviet Union. So much for the myth portrayed that ‘they are a defensive organisation. The opposite is actually true. They ever since the fall of the Berlin Wall, have been in a constant state of expansionism eastward, paying no heed to Russias concerns on this matter. If the roles were reversed, America would be shouting from the rooftops of Russian expansion as occurred in the 1960s during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Utter hypocrisy and hoodwinking it’s gullible for the most part its citizens in the west by their media and governments (that do a great job for the most part).

The US didn't need the Bolsheviks when they already had the Masons and the Mafia and 3 letter agencies to bring the country down.
I believe the final straw for the US was when the Mob (Mafia) and the FBI worked together from 1963 to 1968 to assassinate JFK, RFK, MLK and Malcolm X and several others.
That is when the final suffocation of freedom and real democracy started in the US

    • @BrennanYoung

Certainly _Animal Farm_ has been promoted as a simple satire of USSR, and when it was made into an animated film (with CIA sponsorship), that association was heavily emphasised, because it is an interpretation that supports the western cold war narrative so perfectly. But if you read a little more of Orwell - his essays and radio broadcasts - it becomes clear that his fables and speculations (especially _1984_ ) are intended to be taken much more generally, and should be taken as a warning about *any* political system, ideology or regime, regardless of its purported values, and most especially its name.
We know from Orwell's own comments (for example) that 1984's Ministry of Truth is closely modelled on the BBC, where he worked, and note how often he explores the idea that things are not what they are named - in fact often they are opposites: "War is peace, freedom is slavery" and so on. Great Britain becomes "Airstrip One", a sublimation of a geographical entity to a purely military function.
These "Orwellian" semantic distortions and reversals are perhaps even more common in the west today than they were in the 1940s. Ghastly crimes are given euphemistic, sanitised names. Mundane or decent acts are demonized. The US has a "Republican" party that fawns over the British Royal Family or Prince MBS, and a "Democratic" party that openly rigs its candidate-selection process against its own most popular nominees. The IDF describes the massacre of civilians as "Mowing the Lawn". "Free Trade" agreements are revealed to be pure protectionism or outright extortion. We have a "defensive alliance" which bombs civilians in Belgrade, Afghanistan and Libya and it's called "collateral damage". Putin or Chavez win a huge majority in an election and are called 'dictator'. There are numerous examples.
These distortions are at the heart of Orwell's later work, and really they are his most important message. So yes, _Animal Farm_ and _1984_ are not mere satires of the USSR and are much more closely representative of the west today than many "cliff's notes" readings would suggest. Lavrov's reference to _Animal Farm_ is therefore both apt and ironic, he has turned our own propaganda against us.

Heck, you sound a lot like me. 😄
I don't claim to know much about Orwell but from what I have seen, my understanding is that he started off with a fear of Communism and later realized that the other side was not much better.
1984 is often deep, dark and elaborate.
I like Animal Farm for it's simplicity in bringing it's message, while still encompassing great symbolism.

Also, power of the world isnt just moving East, it's moving North. Russia is NOT the East. it has more population north of the Arctic circle, and close to that parallel, than any other nation. It lives through the most brutal of winters, more than anyone else. And this has helped to forge two strong aspects of their national character; a tough resilience to face out danger, patience to wait for better times, and never leaving someone stranded. No matter what you think of them, you cant abandon anyone to such a certain death. So it has strong interpersonal links which is expressed as We are Russians, we are different from others, we are stronger and more determined than others, We Russain, and Mother Russia is our land, our home, our place. And they'll fight to the death to hold onto these things, just as these things give them the strength to hold on to the death.

Ch1na will win any war on their side of the Pacific, hands down (decisively, for sure). Their missile forces (largest and most advanced on earth, by FAR with Russ1a right behind them), drone forces/capabilities, navy (largest AND now most advanced on earth, hands down), GARGANTUAN combat airfleet (of combat aircraft, although behind Amer1ca on support aircraft numbers, not that it matters that much, or is that big of a difference), are top of the line. Ch1na's industrial base is huge beyond words, including military industries. If Amer1ca & Europe combined cant keep up with Russ1a, they damn sure can't with Ch1na. By the way, the west has bled itself nearly white in terms of ammunition & equipment. Dont know how Amer1ca could prevail in the SCS.......

Wrong about why recruitment around Moscow has stopped. The Russian Forces are getting Volunteers at over one thousand a day - and Putin has to protect the manufacturing base, the works force. It's easier to take a scattering of people, which doesnt deplete the farm and work force numbers, but the taking is thinner.
