  • I was asked by my friend scarlet to produce a Virtual reality installation for the Ladybeard magazine launch. The theme of the issue was "The mind"
    I was intreated in ideas relating to simulation theory and decided to create a distorted virtual mirroring of the users. The software had three phases, Wired, linear and dot maxtrix, each exploring different levels of clarity of yourself and the human body.
    I used a Kinect Sensor to take the users body data and used processing to visually distort the data. I then used syphon and Resolume to convert the application into a video feed. Finally I send the visuals to a custom google cardboard application.
    It was unexpected, but i found users liked to dance during the experience.
    If you would like to know more about processing and the kinect, check out the amazing Dan Shiffman youtube Chanel -

      Hi Jean, I believe it was the first Kinect. I used the point cloud data and changed it up. Was pretty simple, just followed shiffman tutorials. (link in bio)

      Hi Frederico, i am exporting the data from processing with syphon. I can then send this to a VR wrapper

      Hi, check github.com/Syphon/Processing it says it's only compatible with processing 3.0 so you might need to change your setup.

    This might explain the dancing somewhat; People have a strong desire to dance when faced with a dissimilarity between their self-image and the virtual counterpart. Personally, ,it reminds me of a great demo from back in the Amiga days;
