    Some points to consider...1) Most people haven't seen him PLAY but a fraction of all his games. If they had, they would know his greatness to a larger extent. 2) Most people have not seen him play LIVE....especially close to the court. If they had, they would know his movement on the floor is all time elite...his footwork is ridiculous, and is way quicker than it appears on television. 3) Most underrate his defensive performance because he's not an elite one on one defender, or fly from across the lane and block a shot like Wemby. But not only is he improving in that area, he plays smart team defense , gets great positioning for rebounds, and is one of the leaders in steals. 4) Most see his passing skills...they are tangible and reading displayed every night. But just how much those passes make his teammates BETTER... is off the chain. That's what makes him so great. He can certainly go get his....but he's the QUINTESSENTIAL unselfish player. So much so, in fact....he would have MANY more assists if some of the players on his team were better finishers ( Aaron Gordon notwithstanding). Also, as it relates to his passing... his court vision/IQ is unparalleled. This is what separates him from other MVP candidates. He's not only the best passing BIG MAN...he might be the best passer at any position. And with those assists and scoring, he accounts for so much of his team's offense. 5). He's always available and plays big minutes for his size. And considering the ball runs through him so often, including taking it up the court like a point guard, his conditioning is remarkable...and totally belies his physical appearance. 6) He's not done yet. If he stays healthy and motivated, it will no longer even be in a discussion about being at the end of the table (especially if more championships).

    Nobody appreciates what Jokic has done. These last four years have been the greatest statistical peak seasons in NBA history- period. Look at all of the stats. PER - top season ever and three others in the top ten ever. Point differential between him playing with team and team without him? Higher than any other player in history over a four year span. Should have won all four MVP’s. Did this with a small market team, so winning one championship in Denver is like two or three in LA or Boston. And he may be about to win his 2nd in a row. If he does that, this will be the greatest peak four season stretch in NBA history. Nobody better. Nobody.

      @markcurtis2931 17 дней назад

      @@gnielsen07 To me it's akin to how the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame chooses the bands who get inducted. It's almost a dubious honor to be selected.....because the criteria is typically more about superficial popularity than granular reasoning. And to deconstruct your evaluation.... Unless the injury prevents you from participating in the game, that should not be an automatic disqualifier--- if at certain points of the season on the injured list. Being selected to an All Star Game is not the same as being the MVP for an entire season. He has had an injury prone career, but not enough to prevent him from contributing to team and league success. As far as defensively, I've seen every game he's played, and I know he is a better defender than many people think. He gets a LOT of blocks for a guard, and if anyone watched his steal of Anthony Edwards in Game 5, they could see his skill there as well. It's hard to fully quantify efficiency numbers due to all the team defensive switching and complete mismatches against bigger players. I know this....coach Malone would not have a guy on his team that is not at least a decent defender, and I think Murray is better than average. Besides that, since when is that a MAJOR criterion for all stars anyway? Bruce Bowen was NBA All Defensive First Team or Second Team EIGHT times in his career....not one All Star appearance. Your PPG numbers are off a bit....as he HAS been over 21, twice. This year, and in 2020-21. But are you placing 21 ppg as a benchmark? There are players who score less who are better than many who score well past 21. But speaking of numbers...here's one for you. 42.5% from 3.....that's what he averaged this year. But it's not just numerical metrics, it's things that don't show up on the stat sheet. Murray is the other half of the best tandem in the NBA. He is a leader and the team looks to him to score big buckets. As far as assists go, if you watch the offense Denver runs it goes through Jokic. So he takes so many of the assists Murray might normally get. And even when Murray is out there in NJM (Non Jokic Minutes)....the second team guys he passes to often miss more shots. But 6 assists per is still better than a lot of guards. He can also take over a game when he gets in a zone. Not many players have scored over 50 points in the playoffs TWICE. He has been one of the most clutch performers in the playoffs for several years. THAT is when he earns his status as a "STAR".....it makes me wonder if you have noticed how GREAT he has been in key situations. From those epic 50 point battles with Donovan Mitchell....to the buzzer beater over the outstretched arms of Anthony Davis this year....to the half court momentum swinging 3 pointer in Game 4 against the TWolves....he has been just as vital to the team's winning those games as Joker has been in many others. Those things should carry over to all star voting/coaches selections in subsequent seasons. Finally, something he can do extremely well at his size is post up and get his own shots. Very few guards have that kind of ability. You can use any advanced metrics you want....I bet the 3 time MVP would not want anyone else in that position than Jamal. You know why? Because despite having an attitude on occasion (I called him out with the heat pack incident), he's a tough, hard nosed player who defers to Jokic. They have a symbiosis on the court. And I know from all of the feedback Joker gives in interviews about Jamal, that he respects him as much as what he gets in return. I said Murray is an all star who hasn't been selected. But I think that is what fuels him. So I actually hope he never does.....I would rather have team success/championships ANY DAY.

      I’m a Jokic apostle but another finals MVP puts him in line with Hakeem and Shaq. He would still need another MVP to be able to compare to Wilt. Kareem and Russel are far off, that’s GOAT tier, he would need minimum four MVP’s and titles to be in that tier.

Personally I would put Joker ahead of him already…. he’s a similar scorer and similar rebounder but then you add nine assists a game versus two. Shaquille doesn’t win a single championship without Kobe and then Wade, but Joker has won the first one and might win number two this year and still doesn’t have an All-Star on his team. both akeem olajawon and the joker have such soft sure shooting touches. pure magic. the joker is a better passer and better 3 point shooter than akeem. akeem was a far better rebounder
    and shot blocker than than the joker. both could score at will out of this world. both are foreign players. but for the life of me, i cannot say who is better. let's just enjoy them.

    Nash is the only white MVP that seems to be undeserving - but Stern robbed that team w pedantic suspensions. (Those guys followed the spirit of the rule.).
    But the Nash Suns were putting up crazy numbers. Nash is sort of a white man’s Russell Westbrook: gaudy numbers but not really impacting winning at the highest level.

      You really can't. Jokic would get pummeled down low back then and those guys would get run off the floor today. Except Wilt. If his head is right, that dude is a problem in any era.

      People say that because they don’t want to give players like Luka and Jordan their due, but they’re the same people who turn around and say LeBron and Steph belong in the top 10. Jordan played against Kobe, Kobe played against LeBron, and LeBron has played against Jokic. So explain to me exactly when this league stopped being like “back then”.

    • @williamchavez365
      @williamchavez365 19 дней назад

      @SDesWriter when your mvp is a 7 foot big that plays physically. In a league where todays bigs are mostly smaller ,thinner, and weaker centers. A league where you can't touch a player or it's a foul. Can't play defense. Better advantages now vs." Back then. More physical back then . Way more . Being physical changes the way you play ball. Without that, you have no concern . Just dribble and shoot.

    • @SDesWriter
      @SDesWriter 19 дней назад +1

      @@williamchavez365 it’s such a lot of nonsense it’s not even worth picking apart. You can’t touch without a foul? Tell that to the Mavericks where Luca took three hits to the knee during the clippers series and is now more of a liability than a 34 point triple double machine. tell that to Murray who got banged around the first two games of the Timberwolves series. Yeah there are players who get touch fouls like SGA every time he misses a shot, but Dort play football on the court and rarely fouls out.
      As for how physical they are (were), Robinson played Shaq tough and he was 30lbs lighter than Jokic. It’s not as physical as it was in the 80s or 90s, but Olajuwon was shorter and lighter and fucked up everybody he went up against including Shaq.

    Joker is only 29 yo. And his style of play guarantees him to play at least 5 more years of elite basketball. It means 5 more All Nba team selections and about 1 to 2 more nba titles to win.

    I disagree on the extra push for white guy conversations. - always just been assumptions by the conspiracy theorists
    It's been the other way actually - look at Embiid .... Embiid was not the real MVP last season honestly ... he chokes in big games
    Bad energy - assumption - really not true

      3 mvps and 2 chips that puts him in extremely rarefied air if he wins again. Put in the fact he’s making records no one has ever done 2k,1k,500 or leading the playoffs in points rebounds and assist. He’s already entered the rarefied air.

    Don’t ever say he’s on Tim Duncan’s level after a second chip. Most casual take I’ve heard all year. There’s levels to this. Duncan is a 5x champ with 15 all nba and 15 all defense. You dudes are stuck in the moment, but use your brain.
