  • Put your community on your back with "backpacks for the homeless". If you've ever wondered how you can help out the homeless in your community, here is an awesome and fun way you can put a smile on their face with some practical contributions. For about $25 you can build a back pack with essential supplies for the homeless, underserved, and impoverished members of your community.
    Here is a quick preview of one of the many backpacks I have prepared and handed out over the course of at least a year here in my Tampa Bay community.
    Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you for your service and compassion. Enjoy!!

    You should add tampons/pads for the women. They are so hard to come by. The cheapest box of pads near me is $5, and the cheapest box for tampons is $8.50. That is sometimes all they have, and it's either food or hygiene for some woman. Just a thought!

    Be nice, after all this is only one example on how to help the homeless. Take all your own ideas & use them. Feel free to build your own bag, backpack, & help this world be a better place with our actions.

      For food, if there is a sikh gurudwara nearby, do show the homeless the way. Gurudwaras, hindu temples, mosques often offer free food to the homeless. At least their need for food is taken care off. Rest your community can provide.

      I do research for NGOs who help the poor. There's a reason why they smoke up or get into drugs. Those crude drugs help them forget hunger, cuts and wounds, maybe even their fate. Streetside drugs are easily available, and they often buy the ones discarded or have expired with their vendor. So stop being a douchbag, get on with some NGO and try to change their luck. If you think "homeless people are a problem" then homeless drugged people are far more dangerous.

    there's a chance the person receiving the pack might have low blood sugar, so putting some hard candy in there might not be such a bad idea

    I was actually homeless from 2014-2016. I've been housed and employed since then but I still have some fears about ending up back on the streets sometimes. This evening I built my own homeless back pack to set my mind at ease. I amazingly fit a full change of clothes, hygiene and health products, and portable electronics in one bag and it only weighs 15lbs . I purposely did not include any food items as I would just frequent available soup kitchens and sign up for SNAP benefits.

    I think this is great but I have to disagree about medication. I would provide Tylenol and vitamin c because it’s too hard to get to ER for aches and pains and vitamix c because you need it in your diet.

    Job applications for local businesses may prove usual. Your intent is to help them. not enable them. I would say give them all the same high vis color pack; 1. for safety to not get ran over... 2. So you know if you have helped them before and to not give a full new pack to the same person.

    Micrfiber towel is smaller. Mylar emergency blankets are cheap. Under another blanket keeps them warm.

    Speak with your local stores/delis/diners etc to check if there are coupons available with them. coupons that can be given to the homeless to shop. You pay for the food, but the homeless get to eat. and coupons are easy to redeem. Maybe at the backdoor if the restaurant/diner/deli don't want them to come in. Coupons can be printed in breakfast, Lunch, and dinner sets in to 365. Food establishments too will have to come ahead and help. I'm in India, I thought of doing that, but our local temples, mosques, gurudwaras provide free meals to them anyways, so I dropped the idea.
    Also, keep that Tshirt black or muddy brown colour, so even if it gets dirty, it won't show up that easily. You could print a good message on it, urging people to help the wearer.

    All praises to the Most High in Christ for putting it on people's hearts to give! I can tell you put a lot of thought into this and that's so nice of you. You missed the most important thing though, A BIBLE. People should keep in mind the less unnecessary items the more people you will be able to help. Condoms should only be given to the married couples so you're not encouraging fornication. Pads for the women is much more needed. God bless

    • @socratesxenias5766
      @socratesxenias5766 6 лет назад +1

      Serving Yah I agree with giving out a bible as long as it’s the mini kind so the bag won’t be too heavy. But the purpose isn’t to promote a religion, therefore only giving condoms to married couples doesn’t apply here. The idea is to stop the spread of diseases.

      @@Krims7 relax there buddy, I'm not religious either but religion has provided humans with a moral framework since the days we were still throwing sticks at animals to eat. If you dont need religion then stay away, but dont put them down just for their beliefs

    iv seen a few of these vids.but what I do understand why ppl always have peanut butter in there packs.theres other things more important then peanut butter

    • @DanaPatriciaMary1
      @DanaPatriciaMary1 6 лет назад +1

      Because you cannot put in the bag food like chicken and rice, can you? So the next best option is to put in something that is loaded with protein, carbs and healthy fats, which is peanut butter. And it is packed in a practical jar that can be reused later... For the homeless it is important to have some type of food at hand... And peanut butter can be carried around without problems. And it does not get bad quickly. And yes, you are right - there are many things the homeless need. But basically, they need everything. Because they have nothing. So some type of food, water, hygienic stuff and clothes is the least one can give - these things are the most basic ones. Of course, you can come up with many more. And if you do, then do not hesitate and make a care pack for the homeless yourself. Anything will help them...
