  • Born Christopher John Boyle, a man in my humble opinion who'll be written about and remembered for MANY years to come.
Many others will write his life story and highlights of a stellar Rock 'n' Roll career but in my case I shall be lucky enough to be able to remember seeing him in his prime, being around in the late eighties and early nineties as a teenager and seeing this cultural & generational explosion from afar living in Australia and hearing and seeing what the rest of the world would soon come to know as "Grunge" with the new music, sound, non commercial brand clothing style & Musicians which were created through this new generation of style, sound and social attitudes.
    I was very fortunate indeed.
For those of you who are unaware of who Tom Larkin is, briefly he started SHIHAD a Band from New Zealand in 1988 and you'll hear for yourself from Tom how BIG an influence Chris was to SHIHAD and their professional development in the music industry.
Tom was someone not really known to me other than being a Musician in SHIHAD until this interview and I must say that I was very impressed with his intelligence and the thoughtful examined answers which he provided to the interviewers as well as coming from a contemporary of Chris's in the music business as Tom has spent twenty seven years in the Music game, he also run a recording studio in Brunswick, Melbourne "Studio's in the City" and Tom's Management company is called "Home Surgery" Management.
    RIP Christopher John Cornell July 20, 1964 - May 17, 2017

Only discovered. Chris Cornell, recently, Iam impressed by his
    Sensitivity on many topics,
and can only say, his life was a joy to many, and like, many it would be a pleasure to still have him around, and couldn't judge the reasons why. If only he could have found a way through his anguish struggles Compassion to his friends and family.

Now, I can't help but cry everytime I see a tribute video to Chris, because I realize he is gone too...😭😭😭 At least, he got to meet his friends again up there...hopefully😢😢
I'll never forget you, Chris, and thanks for the music!💔

@Yan G, This is the evidence that your relying on to support your claim? Lmao! If you had actually taken the time to do a little bit of research, you would probably find the circumstances surrounding Cornell's death very disturbing. He was definitely MURDERED!! The fact that he had a large bloody head wound at his last concert in Detroit is disturbing in itself...Then we find out that Martin Kirsten was Chris" bodyguard!! Chris had a torn shirt, 9 broken ribs, internerl hemerging, head trauma mentioned by the first responders, yet never noted in the autopsy report. There was a lot of blood and blood splatter....( from a hanging?) These injuries are not consistent with a hanging. Blunt force trauma- Absolutely. Add up the changing narrative from his wife and take into account that this entire story just doesn't add up. I could write an article here full of evidence that points to anything but suicide, but it's not my job to do your homework for you. If you're really interested you will learn all the facts and draw your own conclusion as I have. Chris Cornell was Murdered as was Chester Bennington.

Bullshit. The forensics proved he could not have attempted suicide and didn't. The timeline, the toxic screen, the place he was in his life, PLUS, he was NEVER suicidal. He speaks in many interviews where he speaks of fatherhood changing his whole perspective on life, and taking care of yourself because you're important to them, they depend on him, so he was very aware of his obligation to take care of himself. The insanity of a close friend killing himself the same way on Chris's birthday just proved the arrogance of those committing those murders. Known commonly nowadays as being "suucided'. It's actually more common that those kinds of deaths, awkward hanging over a bathroom door is more often a murder cover up, or a drugged or thrown off victim strung up , and Chris was definitely drugged, beaten then wasn't fully hung, his throat was not completely snapped in consistency with that load the media pushed, but injuries to the back of hisvhead, signs of a struggle and excessive broken ribs are just a small part of the factors proving his death was not a suicide. And, the body guard had a shady past record, definitely not a trustworthy guy. So sad it still hurts a year later. Thev Truth always comes out, eventually. It will for Chris. His fans love him so much, they're not letting go of justice for Chris.

The bodyguard was gone, he had broken ribs, eye indicated signs of strangulation, he was to tall to hang off that door! Concert goers at his last show noticed hair was missing from the back of his head. Chester Bennington died a month later with the same exercise band around his neck. On Chris birthday! If he was murdered I hope there's a hell and a place for the planner and his killer there!

Justice for Chris Cornell, and let me say this, if you were married and supposedly happily, and your husband committed suicide, would you protect him, or would you exploit him. In other words would you go and tell people very private things about a very private person? No, if you loved your husband you would protect him, and not give a fuck about the opioid epidemic, especially when that’s not what he died from. All of you people who say Sue the Dr. are exactly what’s wrong with this country. There is no more taking personal responsibility for the actions we choose. And it’s always people who take the money and do nothing about the cause with it. So you can believe the most ridiculous narrative (Ativan) and run with it all you want but I will always believe in my truth and I know , for sure taking Ativan is not going to make you suicidal. It is not a Psychotropic drug as some have said. It’s a benzodiazepine and it’s risk are becoming addicted, not suicidal and at the small dose he was on he should have been fine to take it for sleep! It’s not Ambien, 2 completely different meds.

Soundgarden and Green River were the two top bands in Seattle back in the mid 80's, with Soundgarden's first EP coming in 1987. Screaming Life inspired every musician in Seattle, since it was so good. It set the bar. Nirvana moved to Seattle around this time, and their first album (Bleach) came out in 1989. So while maybe there isn't a huge musical influence, Soundgarden showed every band in Seattle back then how it was done.

    • @redsalem7686

Kurt Cobain never included Soundgarden as one of his influences. He was open about many other bands who did influence him; like, the Melvins, Mudhoney, Leadbelly, the Pixies... You could argue any band around that time was an influence, but until the artist gives them credit, it's just speculation.

Wtf would a drummer know? :D Artist is really a stretch for someone who likes banging things. Not to diminish or slur Cornell or even Jon Toogoods creative talent, but seriously, Who in the hell does Tom Larkin think he is? Spokesman for the generation? Spokesman for musicians? What makes his opinion more valid than any other lunkhead out there? Cornells death is very sad. I'm especially saddened for his kids and partner (whom Larkin doesn't even mention). This is standard lazy reporting and no better or more valid than the nutbars on the "illuminati did it" bandwagon. Lets have some perspective and sensitivity here. It's just tragic. End.
