    Please explain this question a solid cube of 4 inches has been painted red green black one pair of opposite faces it has been then cut into 1 inch cubes questions
    1) how many cubes have no faces painted
    2) how many cubes have three faces painted
    3)how many cubes have only four faces painted
    4) how many cubes have only one face painted
    Please say like these problems and say answer sir

      If you visualize it then it would be easy for you to understand
      Ans: cubes which are 2 faces colour are on edge except two at corners which have 3 colour so to remove them we subtract 2 (n-2) for each edge and there are 12 edges so we multiply by 12 and we get formula (n-2)×12

      3 colored sides = 8, 2 colored sides = 4*(a+b+c-6), 1 colored side = 2*[(a-2)*(b-2)+(b-2)*(c-2)+(a-2)*(c-2)], 0 colored side = (a-2)*((b-2)*(c-2) these apply only when each side is cut.

    Sir, could you please esplain this question - A cube of side 5 cm is painted on all its side. If it is sliced into 1 cubic centimeter cubes, how many 1 cubic centimeter cubes will have exactly one of their sides painted. Thank You

      I think the answer is 34. I am not sure. I used the equation[n-2]^2*6. but I am confused with the statement '1 cubic cm'

      we need for 1 side painted, hence the formula which will be used should be (n-2)*12 = (5-2)*12 = 3*12 = 36
