I have a bmw, that says recommended premium. This means I don't have to use premium. My question is what happens if I alternate between fill ups. For instance, what I fill up twice a week so on Mondays I use premium, but on Friday I use regular. What about that???
i have a tuned bmw with the twin turbo n54 engine. no way am i putting regular gas. i don’t even like to put 91 in unless i’m really short on cash. 92/93 all day man
I live in NJ, I drive the 2020 BMW 330i xdrive and I only use 89 octane gas for long trip from NJ to Virginia, or from Charleston SC back to NJ home, but I will switch back to Premium Gasoline at middle of road from Charleston SC to NJ
@@M5Fanatics been averaging 10.1L/100 on my last 5 fill ups. It uses more now it's cold in Alberta & BC. I track all my fuel mileage with gasbuddy app. That's using Shell 91 exclusively and Castrol Edge 0w-40 oil.
Good to know, I just started using 94 from petro Canada cuz of the tune I got. I’m going to see how the fuel consumption is with the tune and 94 octane
You knows even crazier about people actually thinking they’ll ruin their ride at the pump with the wrong fuel… is that they actually think the fuel station will allow them to pump a fuel their vehicle can’t use. Just imagine the chaos that would cause if people were allowed to put a fuel type that’s going to ruin their car & be detrimental. That’s how unintelligent people are. There is a min & a max fuel type with all cars. Engine knock is present in every car on the road. To worry about 5-10hp diff shows that they’ll pay for fuel at any cost. Biden might as well set the fuel to hit $20 a gallon & they’ll still pay it.
This is a different car... My F16 BMW X6 has the N55 motor. with my observations, i got different gas mileage between the 2 octane. The B58 in your may work the same when using octanes, especially with the electric motor assisting the motor.
I love my BMW, I don’t know if it’s doing anything but I always use 93, for the love of the vehicle. ✌🏽
I stick to mid I have used the lowest and let me tell you that runs out quick like water than premium and mid grade so I have noticed the difference.
i experienced that with 89. the fuel mileage isnt the best. i've been running 94 almost 2 years now and have much better mileage
I have bmw x5 and i use 89 plus I'm saving some money and is working perfectly 👍
Your brains a lemon go buy a honda
You are right it’s smart to take the minimum type that’s noted in the manual. Some people are just pure idiots when it comes to paying for fuel.
@@khodges2 its bad for the engine to use 89 after a long period of time.
Regular gas city hwy mix gives me 465miles. I live in nyc. I rarely use 91/93

Not a damn thing happens. I’ve been driving BMW for years as well as Lexus. The cars run fine.
your fuel consumption will decrease

Good choice! I’ve been using 94 for a year and half now and big improvement
Hey man, if you’re going to be running 89 you should only use shell. The Ethanol is less in it. Again, just use 91.
This was just an experiment. I’ve been running 94 now a bit over a year now.
xD
I drove bmw on shell 91 the mileage sucks. The gas burns. Petro Canada 91 was okay and pioneer 91 gave me much better mileage.
Oke , so my f48 filled with 90 octane Around half tank , i drive 100km away ,then i got check engine , what should i do?
Have the car diagnosed to see what’s the exact problem
You put less than the reccomend octane thats why. Or you didnt tighten the gas cap hard enough.

Here where I live the only octane available is even below 87. It's like 80. Many cars knock on uphill and we're living with it
Where do you live?
@@Felipe.87 Lebanon. I’m still pissed off because of the shitty fuel we’re getting. My car’s performance is still affected big time 2 years later
@@Edwin-km4xk use fuel additives
@@Mahan.M i tried every single one of them. The octane is low till the point that none of them helped
Very interesting! No 87 gas is going to go in my Vhite car that’s for sure
I use 87. In X4 M40. No issues whatsoever!
I get less than 9L/100km running Shell 91 on my 2013 X5 35i with the N55. That's highway only and following all speed limits.
My car can get 9-10L/100km if I’m at a stable speed as well. What’s your average L/100KM?

@@M5Fanatics shame you don't have Chevron in Ontario. You can get 94 octane with zero ethanol.
@@Ashley_van_Schooneveld that would of been amazing. I'm currently using 94 from Petro Canada
91 always in my f30 330ix
I love the interior colors of your car...
thank you
Is 89 good for my car ?
They all same is marketing no different
I've used 87 for years with no problems

For the new people with Bmw here, The problem its not the range, The real problem its regular gas will mess your catalic converter faster,
what to do if you poured wrong fuel into bmw 338i
There are octane additives that can be used and sold at your regular auto parts stores.
Your 338i will run fine on regular
I switched to electric 5 years ago. 3 electric cars later I took delivery of my 2023 iX 50 and it requires premium electricity to run. 😂
LMAO
The pleasure of driving an electric cars is 0
94 gang 💥
Km? Wtf
I don’t believe this. I have the same car x4 M40 2022. No difference in mileage at all. About 450 miles per tank on any fuel. 50/50 highway/city
