Great conversation. I will be taking Dr. Mittal's course for physicians to learn how to start the conversation with patients.

I believe Dr.Mittal would speak in a non-judgmental way to her patients compared to how I have been spoken to over the years.

Exercise is super important in the weight loss process, especially high intensity interval training (HIIT). Great for quickly metabolizing away that visceral fat. Very overweight, deconditioned people can start with just 5 min a day. 15 min a day is more than adequate as a way of life. Then add in other stuff for fun-dancing, walking, hiking, etc. Kettlebells are THE BEST for this, as the HIIT component is built into using them. Very effective, all you need is a kettlebell and a few feet of space around you, can do it at home, and it's fun!

People need to put some work toward our own weight-loss otherwise we're too likely going to go back. Hormones are a whole other issue that we don't have control over.

Another great interview, chef AJ. Dr Mittal is so knowledgeable. As a fellow South Asian, I know how difficult it is to lose the spare tyre around my mid section, even on your way of eating. But I was able to reduce my waist size from 38 inches to 30 inches, by embracing intermittent fasting and time restricted eating (16/8). My last meal of the day is no later than 4 pm. Dr Greger did a series about IF/TRF and also the most effective time of day to eat. Check it out.
