Herman great game currently playing. One small nitpick and a question. Nitpick would be helpful I think to have had order markers as a Menomic can help to keep track who had done what last. To help know who had defensive orders so you don’t forget to give them their shift in combat. Question is there a posted errata for faq yet? Honestly loving the game
Thank you for the great review and kind comments! While we were working on this, I was also working on "Thunder at Dawn". As was Rick Barber, he finished this map, put the final tweaks on the "Wilson's Creek" map in about three weeks and then passed away two weeks later.
The first of your videos I watched, and I was completely blown away. Your playthrough is crisp, complete, and concise. Just a fantastic piece of work. Thank you!
I do prefer Blind Swords to Black Swan, but with the larger battles something had to to be modified to make things playable. Nice coverage of this game Wayne, as always Thank you!
They did a good job with the compromises that had to be made, and like you, I prefer Blind Swords in the end. But man they did a great job with this system.
Great Review Wayne! I found in the beginning, learning the system that I wasn’t familiar with, took some time overall. I hadn’t even played Blind Swords before playing this game, so there’s that. But I do have to say, once I understood how to do assaults, I don’t think they take any more time that regular Fire Combat. Learning how to do it at first, yeah, it took a minute to wrap my head around it. But now, easy breezy.
My friend supported the Kickstarter campaign for this game and as a reward he got a General Stonewall Jackson card to replace Ewell for a great "what if" scenario for Gettysburg
Love your videos Wayne! Just started watching a few weeks ago and as a result…. Bought all 6 of the Blind Swords games from Revolution (surprise Father’s Day present with their sale going on). This looks awesome, but can’t commit due to the size. I’m usually a 1 mapper (sometimes 2) due to gaming space. May have to take your advice and just go for it though!
Thanks Jacob! I like hearing people are enjoying my videos and find them helpful. Well, I will say you have PLENTY of gaming coming your way with those Blind Swords games. Going to be some great gaming too btw. I'm really only a 1 mapper type of gamer myself, so with large games like these I need them to have smaller scenarios available... and thankfully, there are a bunch. Either way, at least you'll have some excellent Blind Swords action to keep you busy!
Remember Bill, you can begin with a smaller scenario, so you don't have to have both maps setup to start with. That's how I played it, began with the smallest scenario and worked my way up to larger ones (although I couldn't use both maps at their largest, just don't have the table space for that).
@@WayneHansen I plan on doing that to ease myself into it. I currently have 2 games on my table that I'm working on. Hope to have enough room by the end of the week. Thanks for your hard work and videos
Thanks for the video Wayne, this game is really tempting me as I'm slowly getting into ACW, but the price has really discouraged me so far. The lavish production is there, but so is around £140 asking price for it. Before I jump this hoop I'll really want to be committed to it, which probably means buying P&P version (already available on Wargamevault) and trying it out on Vassal/TTS, once the mod is available.
Thanks Wayne. It is a really good game and worth purchase. I think it is a stretch to say high quality production. The art on the map is fantastic, but whoever they are using to make the board itself, something is a miss. My board is falling apart easily, be very careful opening it. The board construction does not match other companies. The cards are not aligned properly and are off center cut. The extra dice are very low quality. You mentioned the issue with the player aids. These are all take always from the quality, thus it is good quality to me, but not high quality. The game is worth it as it is, I just can’t agree with the “high quality”. The rest of the review is very much appreciated. Thanks for being willing to share cons, so many won’t do that or shy away from it oddly.
I appreciate you sharing your thoughts John. I am fortunate I haven't had any issues with my copy, but I can understand being frustrated if you did. And I'll always share my honest opinion, whether it's a review copy or I purchase it with my own money.
Hey Tim! Are you new to wargames or new to the system? If new to wargames, I think the system is definitely at the top end for beginners. I'm not saying you (or someone else) couldn't handle it, but I know when I was new to wargaming, the Blind Swords system was at the upper end of complexity on what I was comfortable with. If you're just new to the system, for a beginner game I'd recommend Stonewall's Sword or Thunder in the Ozarks. You get smaller maps and fewer counters, which I believe can make learning a system a lot easier. You are less likely to feel overwhelmed.
@@WayneHansen Thanks for the great response Wayne, I'm still very much a "basic" war gamer. So while I read the rule book some of the more complex games I still struggle to learn. Appreciate the follow up!
There is no true solitaire system. But it works great solitaire thanks to the random unit activations (utilizing card draw to determine the units/Formations) and limit to what Orders can be given to units.
@@WayneHansen Thank you, and just subscribed. Could you kindly advise what are you other Top 5 solo war games? I like the medium to heavy ones, thank again ! Warm Regards, Richard

Thanks so much Wayne! A very nice overview and I'm so pleased that you enjoyed the game.
Congratulations to you and your team for an impressive achievement. You guys hit it out of the park.

Great review personally I love that both sides roll for assault.
I appreciate that Clark!
very interested! Thanks for your overview and review.
Glad it was helpful!

Wayne, it has a GIANT TEXAS FLAG on the cover, of course it's a GREAT game! 😀
They say everything is bigger in Texas, apparently that includes wargame maps.

Great overview as always Wayne :) :) Hope your cute little baby is comfortable and doing well today :)
He's doing really really well! Fingers crossed; he may be coming home sooner rather than later. I am so excited.

thank you very beautiful product
Absolutely! And yes it's a great production and game all around.
Thanks Wayne. Great job. Can't wait to get my copy on the table. Trying to clear the space up.

Nice vid, thank you. BTW consider getting metal dice - you'll never go back. 🎲

Where do you live?
@@WayneHansen UK, not-so-sunny Scotland😉
Oh boy, I suppose that explains it.
@@WayneHansen Yup, unfortunately there's a large difference between GMT and smaller companies on the shipping/taxes side 😐
