Actually MvdP first bike for cyclocross was a MTB. This was when he was really young and he probably forgot about it. His father Adrie told about his MTB a couple months ago in an interview. Mathieu was doing cyclocross races on a MTB and almost winning. So people told his father that Mathieu needs a real cyclocross bike. So then Adrie bought a nice alu frame and put good parts on it. Mathieu started to win all the cc races and then the same people started to complain the new bike was too good. Haha So first bike from MvdP was a MTB although he forgot.....
A little background on MVDP would be nice, I don't know his history with previous riding or his father and grandfather. I've pieced together cyclocross and former Le Tour competitors but too many assumptions were made. Love the dialled series, hope it gets a little more traction so it continues...Fox Rocks
Fair enough if you are mostly a DH fan (like myself), but if you even loosely follow XC racing you will know who he is, his background and why is one of the most impressive overall cyclists today... probably most impressive in my opinion, even though I am a DH/freeride fan.
He gives the impression of having that unflappable nature that's fairly common amongst high level performers in a lot of areas. In mountain biking Nino Schurter, Aaron Gwin, Sam Hill, and Martin Maes come to mind. They just do their thing and don't really let other people's ideas affect them.
@FOX was not even expecting a reply thank you so much for replying. He is also trying to get into racing enduro but he keeps complaining about his wheel size as he prefers bigger wheels. I think its 29er and he wont stop going on about them to me. I think he also have all fox suspension as well but his bike is very old. He was overwhelmed when I told him you guys replied and he would love to meet up with you guys as he loves the style of the fox components. Thank you again. You have made his week! Alison Ps his real name is Thierry but evryone calls him Tid. Have a good day. Alison
Awesome episode.. tnx to all the FOX team. Really enjoyed the dialed series!
The best series great job guys! MVDP is the most talented cyclist at the moment killing it in three disciplines.
This is not an interview, it's a Q&A... The interviewer should react to his answers, but only asked pre-made questions....
Biggest engine in the biz. Congrats Mathieu. These new skills show in your cx style. Punch it!
Insane engine
Can't wait to see you all at Mont-Sainte-Anne. Great work all of you, the bikes for the racers, and the content for us to see. Well done!!!!
such a talent
