So I have thought a lot about the inevitable return of the Emperor's finest son, Vulkan, and what I want to see. Here is my idea: Gasghul invades Armageddon...again, and the Salamanders deploy in near Chapter strength to aid the world. Meanwhile, Vulkan He'Stan is searching for the last of the artifacts (we assume he found all but the unbound flame). During his search one thing leads to another and he discovers both Tsu'gan and Da'Kir (I apologize if there is a lore conflict here but I haven't had a chance to read Rebirth yet so I don't know if Tsu'Gan or Da'Kir are back already). They get in some conflict with the the Drukari (perhaps how He'stan finds one or both of them) but eventually they discover the unbound flame (whatever that is). We then are reintroduced to Vulkan, who helps to slay the pursuing Drukari. Vulkan then informs He'Stan that he has been watching the Forge Father and readied himself by the final artifact to await their arrival (insert fluff here). Anyway, back to the good stuff. The third war of Armageddon is going poorly and it results in the Salamanders holding the last line of defense of a hive city against Gasghul's own horde. Tu'Shan leads a charge against the Big Boss and finds himself in single-combat with the mighty orc. Despite his effort he gets a serious ass-kicking. As he stares, helm-less into the eyes of the Beast of Armageddon, who is preparing to kill the Chapter Master with his mighty claw Tu'Shan says: " We don't fear you xenos-filth! We are the Anvil upon which you will be broken!" Gasghul responds: "Puny Space Marine! How're you gonna do that? You ain't got no hammer!" Right them a grand ethereal light flashes and SLAM! Gasghul goes flying into a crowd of his boys. Then with a mighty roar they all hear "I Am The Hammer!" As Vulkan He'Stan rushes towards his bloodied lord from with Da'Kir and Tsu'Gan in toe (Da'Kir teleported them, thus the flash) Tu'Shan stares up in total awe at his massive gene father. He'Stan: "Lord Tu'Shan! Are you alright!?!" Tu'Shan: "...By the heart of Deathfire,... can it be?" He'Stan: "Yes. The prophecy is fulfilled, our father has returned." Tu'Shan: "...Vulkan...lives!" With that all of the nearby Salamanders begin to murmur "Vulkan lives!?!" Until finally a mighty roar booms throughout the battlefield: "VULKAN LIVES!" (Stomp Stomp) From orbit in his command ship Guilliman hears the chatter over the vox-feed. Some Blueberry: "My Lord, ground forces seem to all be saying something, but I can't understand what it means." Guilliman: "Isn't it obvious? Vulkan Lives!" Vulkan turns to face the mighty orc boss and raises his power-hammer high aloft for all of his sons to see. "SONS OF NOCTURNE! Into the fires of battle!" Salamanders in perfect unison: "Unto the Anvil of War!" "What follows is 6 dozen pages of Vulkan beating the ever-living piss out of Gasghul before his inevitable retreat. Those unable to keep pace with their fleeing boss leave no trace as they are engulfed in purifying prometheum. In the aftermath Vulkan is properly reunited with his sons (let's skip the exposition stuff) and Vulkan speaks to Tu'Shan: "Tu"Shan, I have long known of you great deeds in service to the Chapter and my father. In recognition and thanks I will now grant you any request you have of me." Tu'Shan: "Lord Primarch, I am undeserving of such words from you. Having the honor of meeting you is more than enough then any Salamander can ask for." Vulkan: "You are more than deserving of every honor in my father's imperium and I insist on recognizing it. So again, as a proud father I bid you tell me what it is I can do to thank you for your service to my gene sons, my father and my home." Tu'Shan pauses while contemplating what to say next, then finally answers: "Lord Vulkan, if I am deserving of any reward I seek, then I can think of none greater than this; allow me to shake my father's hand." Vulkan looks surprised by this request, but agrees. Vulkan: "Very well, my son." He offers his massive gauntleted hand and grasps his son's extended hand in kind. Suddenly, Tu'Shan is pulled towards his father only to find himself being embraced by the Primarch. In that moment, Tu'Shan fought against the most powerful foe he ever faced, his desire to weep tears of joy. (Stomp Stomp). Oh and at some point Vulkan meets a Black Dragon, places his hand upon one of their shoulders and says "I do not know what Mechanicus treachery led to your creation, but a father can always recognize his son." There, done geeking out now.
It breaks my heart you didn't really touch on the Nick Kyme Salamanders trilogy. to a great extent. Da'Kir's ascension to the Ferro Ignis, the invasion of Nocturne by the Dragon warriors, and Tu'Shan's battle with a Tzinchian demon with the aid of Velconda. also... VULKAN LIVES!!!
Plus Astartes aren't idle, they're probably going off to war as soon as possible. Similar to the Raven Guard who's always understrength through the RG did sire a few chapters.
17:24 The Gauntlet of the Forge being "a quick igniting and high powered thing that according to legend, nothing could withstand." I wish that were true, but I've had enough dice rolls to disprove that legend.
I'm glad you brought up Apothecary Chief Harath Shen, the guy is AMAZING on the tabletop. I wish you gave mention to Bray'arth Ashmantle, a warrior entombed in a special mark of Venerable Dreadnought wrought by Vulkan himself. That Iron Dragon Dreadnought is absolutely ludicrous in its power and maddeningly difficult to kill.
Thanks, Michael- I always enjoy listening to your stories. They’re quite well-written and great to listen to while painting and the like. Have a great weekend!
@@SprazzyGazoozle Chapter Master Smashfucker in 7th edition. An absurdly strong build on the tabletop for the Iron Hands, and is mathematically capable of consistently winning against his own Primarch.
Da'kir disappeared in the battle for Nocturne, presumed dead. Although I very much doubt it, as A) he is a son of Vulkan, they tend to, well... not die, and B) he was waaaaaaaaaaay overpowered at this point (in Black Library's top 50 space marines list, he was the highest ranked librarain IIRC, which honestly surprised me with the likes of Mephiston being around). The tomes of fire are some of my favourite novels :)

The Salamanders- Masters of the Apostrophe.
Or, as they refer to it, the ‘postrophe.
Salamanders for ever
Everytime I hear Pyriel's and Da'Kir's name I cry
The more the story slowly progresses I'm thinking Vulkan is alike to Luke in Last Jedi. The artifacts being a map to prove their worth. 🤔
