- A few weeks ago, I played in the @chess Titled Tuesday tournament and got a game of chess against Alexei Shirov. Alexei was ranked #2 in the world and was supposed to play a World Championship match vs. Kasparov.

its like watching Shirov play one of his subs
Levy asking if he would use the shirov variation is like a fan excited to meet his idol.
I thought of kung fu panda
"for the majority of the middle game, I thought I was doing quite well"
-- IM Levy Rozman, 2020
-- also, me in most of my games
so the lesson of the video is: "blunder early"
Levy was quite head to head actually...
Until he got nervous...
To be fair, I think anyone that's into chess would also be star struck to play against Shirov.
logic is brutal because this proves a statement hikaru made regarding levy's lack of tenacity against the cream of the crop. not saying I would do better, am saying it is optic, visible, perceptible, to see what dude was talking about.
*obligatory comment about what levy needs to do here as if I fucking know. xD
4:43 ah yes GM fire on board! A strong competitor to his opponents GM my great predecessors, and GM Zurich tournament of 1953
My favorite player is GM My 60 most memorable games
I don’t know who this guy is, (yet) but you keep saying such nice things about him that he now has my respect by extension through you. Mad respect to you Alexei Shirov.
Oh that's strange! You don't know shirov? He has a lot of variations named after him and he's also called as GM fire 🔥 don't you know really? He recently won brilliancy award in chess Olympiad 2020. It's just strange I don't have word to say about what you commented 😂
@@bhabanishankarrath3973 Not everyone is a chess nerd like me and you lol
His brilliance against Danyyil in the Olympiad is one of the best chess games in the past 10 years, a very good introduction to Shirov if you're looking to know more. He's also famous for playing arguably the most outrageous only-winning-move in chess history, bh3 (vs Topalov 1998, Linares)
Best Spanish player in the last decades. Very fun games. Interesting sacrifices. Creative. Chaos.
@@ym276 cool bro 😂
Watching Levy fangirl about playing Shirov is so wholesome
I love these videos. Wish you still made videos like this
Your smile when you see you play against Shirov, is gold!
But nothing beats the scream of Alexanda Botez when she saw she plays Hikaru.
When he was playing Peter Svidler he was so excited and nervous. He's definitely been through his fair share of titled tuesday
Levy is my favorite, Not a grandmaster i know but his instructional videos and his banter with other commentators pulled me back into chess.
You are so underrated and I love this channel so much
I know this is gonna be great, just like all Shirov's games are!
We are all rooting for you in titled Tuesdays.
Fire on the board Shirov vs Chaos on the board Rozman
Aman also played a game with Shirov (over the board, FIDE rated game). Aman won and he was really happy about it :D.
Levy I think u are doing a very kind work by teaching the chess for every level. Actually u should make a paid course.
Already has, check the description
@@booyah7394 thanks man
Best Spanish player in the last decades. Very fun games. Interesting sacrifices. Creative. Chaos.
Ever*
Qa6 is normal, but well done for making him think after Qb5 at 1:57
I had never seen this idea before: you attack the Qd3 and the pawn on b2 at the same time
But Qa6, White can play c4, and you do not attack the b2 pawn
i love your own game analysis
Nice. Thanks, Levy.
Levi more content let’s goooooo
3:52 Why black knight taking b2 is fantastic? Why wouldn't white take it with their knight?
Legend Shirov
Your an awesome player man. You got to play Shirov. Does it really matter who won?
It's so nice to see Levy fangasm over the board lol.
Respect is like putting seasoning in a dish too much or too little ruins it completely, one shouldn't care if its Magnus or Andrea just exert yourself to your maximum and beat their ass.
Levy: We want to play quick.
Mr. Fire Onboard: Plays all sorts of weird moves. (waiting for an attack)
Levy: Ohhhhhh he made mistakes, I can make Fire On Board. (using the time to calculate how he is winning)
Mr. Fire Onboard: Smiling......
Levy: I should win here.
Mr. Fire Onboard: You are still too young. (analyzed Levy's weaknesses during his time thinking and started HIS Fire )
Levy: Ends up losing everything upon time.
Moral of the story: Never think too much about how to win or you lose on time. Never think too little about how your opponent can breakthrough.
I've seen Eric Rosen do the same thing countless times.
"I'm up 30 seconds and have a great position! How am I going to capitalize on this?"
... explores several plans that don't quite work...
Soon: "I'm down a minute and my opponent has all the activity :-("
Also Eric Rosen: "The most important thing in Blitz is to play solid moves and save some time for the end-game". Then spends all his time trying to find complex mating combinations involving queen sacrifices...
Plz make video to improve visualization
well played, mr. gotham!
and now back playing the SanitationEngineer
Levy back then was calm and do not clickbait.
With apologies to Joe Montana, my favorite Grandmaster is... the Next One! Keep pushing for your title, Levy. Thanks for the content.
When is the 2nd part coming?
In all of life, there is a rhythm.

Wrong channel bro
@@onuragaoglu901 lol DANGER
@@boriskogan7903 lmao this was posted two months ago and you're just now joining the Rhythm?
No fire on board if you trade Queens too early 😆😆😆😆 but Alexsei Shirov is too strong good game master !!
Isn't he the guy who made the shirov variation of the caro kann
He says it in the video
Was early so I didn't know but thxx
Hey Gotham I am from future and can you make video on
.how to grow in chess without coach
I learned something tday
This is y i'm still under 2000
cuz my mean skills aren't good
Do you know why is levy respects the man so much? Cuz he deserves it!
Oh yes, Shirov... best known for losing that 1 game where Kasparov sacked the exchange in the Kalashnikov. :)
That was a Sveshnikov, and Shirov's best known for bh3.
He’s best known for being cheated out of the promised championship match against Kasparov for $2million. He had defeated Kramnik and was not paid, being promised the match.
Damn I'm a week into learning chess now and it looks like he thinks so fast.
In all of life, there is rhythm
Alexei is from Latvia! Why is he using a Spanish flag?
Lesson learned, get em' next time
hey Please do a stream in @lichess
My fav grandmaster is Nihal Sarin
gg, Bruce W.
Levy can beat any GM if he stops choking
Lolno
D4 climbing coming soon
Looked good for a while...
Literally wasted a minute for no reason....
Favorite grandmaster? Hikaru Pepega on the board
Please make a video on Scandinavian
@@DonFreeq Scandinavian isn't trash
@@DonFreeq I think you're a bit mistaken, with all due respect.
Carlsen has played Scandinavian against Caruana twice, and won both the games. It is different than many solid openings but it is good if you know what you're doing
@@DonFreeq You do have a point. And yes, players might be having some pet lines but not players below 1500 elo.
It is a good opening at an intermediate level, which makes most of Levy's viewers.
As he says in most of the opening videos, at this level you don't have to know all the complex lines, just the basic opening ideas and moves.
nice video :)
see i follow ur vids xD
nice
"Ke2 is terrible"
Levy looking super cute today 😳
Hey levy is it possible for
You to become a grand master one day ?
Fanboyism makes you underperform. You assume you are about to lose and also respect your opponent too much.
They're good until they're not.
Played really slow...
Play with GM Vidit gujrathi
Levy looks like budget Doctor Mike
clock
you are my favourite grandmaster
My favorite GM is Levy's chair. Simple
Ok. Pls play minecraft noob :(
Play chessbrah
It's not like you're not an absolute legend as well Levy.
Nonsense
