Cairngorms National Park (Scotland) - Stage 1 - the Foothills
Cycling from Pitlochry to Glenshee Visitor Center is an exhilarating journey through the foothills of the beautiful Cairngorms, perfect for those seeking a rewarding adventure. Starting at the banks of the River Tummel, the route takes you through the picturesque town of Pitlochry, known for its Victorian architecture and vibrant culture. From there, you'll climb through lush woodlands into the highlands, where breathtaking mountain views await. The terrain ranges from gentle slopes to challenging ascents, passing through remote landscapes filled with heather-covered hills, ancient pine forests, moorlands, and clear streams. Along the way, you'll pass through the charming village of Kirkmichael before you head into the wild beauty of the Cairngorms National Park.
In this ride-along video, you ride at the speed of a very fit cyclist. If you want to ride at your own speed, please look below for how you can make that possible with our indoor cycling app Open Road.
Take your indoor cycling to the next level with our indoor cycling app Open Road:
Dive into an immersive indoor cycling experience with our training app ’Open Road’ for Windows. The app transforms your effort into speed and lets you ride the ride as if it were a real outdoor ride. With the app, you get a better and more realistic indoor cycling experience compared to our ride-along videos on RUclips. The app is compatible with all ANT+ cycling devices, including smart trainers, power meters, and speed sensors. Athletes with spinning and exercise bikes without ANT+ compatibility can control the speed manually and enjoy riding with all the important cycling data such as altitude, distance, speed, heart rate, etc. displayed during the training session.

    Just add music:
Most cyclists would agree that the ride to Col du Tourmalet is outstanding. But with music, opinions are very mixed. So we have added no music. Instead, we recommend adding your favorite music to the ride. It is quite simple. Mute RUclips and open a browser window. Find a site that offers music (Spotify, RUclips, etc.) pick the music you like, and enjoy the ride... We have left the original sound of the ride out. This is because the noise from passing cars, vibrations from the road, wind, and the rider's breathing drowns the natural sound of the surroundings.

Very boring scenery. I have come to expect much better from Bike the World and you are in Scotland! Where are the highlands? The rivers? And are you driving not riding?

It may be boring for someone born and living in the UK, but for us not accustomed to this kind of scenery it is indeed very interesting and beautiful. And this ride takes you to the next stage which takes you over the highest mountain pass in the UK. So stay tuned...
