Thanks - This one looks better than my first try but not perfect. Respect to the professionals because getting vinyl to look good is more difficult than it looks!
Hi Jerry, nice work and a really good idea with this jig made of wood. That´s the way I will do it, too - in my first attempt I made the mistake NOT to remove the protection foil before the wrapping :-) Plus I tried to wrap the foil around the whole cowl in one step which is 500% more unpossible... no wonder that I failed. And I used just 1 wooden lath as a jig... Thanks for the tip
Unlike other vinyl that you can stretch, stick, peel and re-stretch... I found that chrome vinyl loses some of its shine when you peel and re-stick. So doing it in sections makes it easier (and yes, if you don't remove the protect film, you can't stretch the vinyl. I made the same mistake my first time 🤣)
I like the look of the chrome tank and don't want to cover it ... BUT, you're right, I probably should get tank pads; my knees are making small scratches on the tank.
Hi Jerry.....quick question.... are you considering adding the RK design front fairing eventually. TBH, I'm scared shitless to tackle that on my own.... and would certainly wait to follow your instructional video if it was something you were considering! 😆
@@ConductorRyan I just checked out your bike, very nice; the seat seat and grips look great! I also got the blacked out heel guards and intake covers but haven't changes them yet. Where did you get the front fender? I've been looking for a shorter fender.
It's a plastic chrome emblem you can get on eBay. I made a video about it with a link to the emblem in the description. ruclips.net/video/TIVH62KBDZ4/видео.html
The issue I had with this chrome vinyl is that it would discolor, streak and turn foggy when I used a heatgun. Not sure if it was cheap vinyl, my lask of skills or both!
Yes, wrapping is more diffucult than it looks, takes time and practice! And the crome even more difficult; when you stick and lift it creates imperfections in the vinyl you can see.
@@RideWithJerry yea reheat removes alot of them, when it rips or splits..thats the worst haha..in the bin time, restart,i have few bits to redo on my gt but i actually ran out of the green, because doing the fuel tank took 4 times cutting the u for the front tank/handelbar area,it would split on application had to do it in 3 pieces eventually
For the cowl I bought this 12"x60" roll of vinyl for $9 from Amazon amzn.to/3OQFv6T The vinyl is inexpensive but not the best. I just bought some new, much better vinyl to re-wrap the cowl and a headlight cover but this vinyl is much more expensive... $55 for 12"x53" amzn.to/3tksbRI
Hi Jerry: I ordered the chrome metal cowl from e-bay. I took a long time to arrive. I just received it today and was super excited to install it, but my excitement quickly turned to sorrow. It doesn't fit. It is not even close to fitting and there is no way to make it fit. Just e-mailed the seller asking for a return and refund. I'll let you know how things go. Don
I had the same issue.... the connector tabs and screw holes did not match up, not even close! I had to use tools to bend the tabs into the correct position and drill new holes for the screws to get it to fit.
Nicely done.
Thanks 👍
Really great execution. The vinyl chrome looks pretty decent.

Thanks! Been a long time since I've bee called a "lad" 😄

No, I don’t have plans to add a front fairing. I just put on a short fly screen but I think that’s going to be it for now.
Our bikes are nearly identical. Only difference is I have the C Racer fairing done in chrome vinyl as well, and baak exhaust.
Did you do the chrome vinyl yourself; how does it look? Wrapping chrome is more difficult than I thought it would be to get it to look good.
@@RideWithJerry nah, I had it done. If you’re on the classic motorworks enfield forum you might have seen it. My name there is Ruddigger.

What if at last moment he had punched hole in wrong cowl?
Ha! The metal one would be too difficult!

Did yours take a while to come @Ride.WithJerry? I ordered one of these, seems like they are making them as they're ordered.

I haven't seen a chrome double seat cowl that you can buy. You would have to make custom.
