    I suggest watching some of their instructional videos. You are holding it wrong. Your thumb goes behind the power button and the protection lip goes against your head so the iron should be inverted. Plus when you order with them they will do a FaceTime video to help you get the hang of it! Maybe watch a few and see and maybe give it another go? I love mine!

    You are using it the wrong way, you should make another update on it!

    So I’ve had one for months and love it. It’s pulling on your hair because you’re supposed to hold the curved end towards your head, not the flat side. I know it’s hard to believe but if you hold it the correct way it won’t tug and it’s brilliant!!!

  • @jenniferflores2918

    I purchased one from Amazon, and it was a fake. I ordered a pro directly from their website, and love it! It took some time, and I watched a lot of videos. I had a one on one styling session, and they gave me little tricks that made a huge difference. Mine does not pull my hair like that at all. Also, there’s a certain way to hold the iron for each side of the head. I would say try again, with a product directly from them, and a free styling session! Just my opinion, but it works really well for my short, fine hair. I’ve never been able to master a curling iron or flat iron for curls.

    Just incase you were wondering, if you watch other videos, it’s pulling your hair cause you are doing it backwards... if you want to curl you put the plates away from your face and if you want to straighten you out the plates towards your face... that’s the learning curve everyone’s on about, learning which way it’s meant to be facing

    I’ve had my Tyme iron for 2 years and don’t have any of those problems with it. I have thick waist length hair and using my Tyme iron to curl it has cut the curling time in half and doesn’t tug or pull on my hair at all. I absolutely love mine and it’s the only curling tool I have that the curls actually stay in my long heavy hair.

    I have the Tyme and I had problems using it. But when I looked up the videos on RUclips I realized I was using it wrong... and YOUR USING IT WRONG!!! Please look up the video on how to use it!! Trust me you’ll like it once you know how to use it!

    I got one and was HIGHLY skeptical. After seeing so many reviews and practicing, I LOVE IT!!! The biggest thing I had to learn was to NOT CLAMP THE IRON TIGHTLY!!!!! After i got in the groove and got a slow and steady pace, it was so easy

    I must be old school, but I’ve always done well with a regular round barreled clamp style curling iron for any type of curl. Why are product developers making the curling process so complex? Thanks for the honest review.

    • @Casie41891
      @Casie41891 5 лет назад +6

      Barreled clamp curling irons dont hold curl for everyone. Hairdressers always used to use them on me and it would last about a couple hours then I tried a wand and it was life changing. The only thing that will give my hair a curl and stay for about 2 days is a wand.

      I think they are wanting to make people 's lives "easier" by creating a 2 in 1 or even 3 in 1 product. The ongoing issue I am seeing is you have to learn in depth about the product to use it. I think if something is supposed to be easier it shouldn't need so much research. I haven't yet to see anything marketed as a 2 in 1 or 3 in 1 product that actually does what it says. I get my best curls using a flat iron but i dont consider that a 2 in 1 product because it's not supposed to be used that way.

    I sold mine after 2 weeks of trying it. As a lefty I was so confused and it just made my hair frizzy and ripped out so much hair. It was a nightmare with coarse hair. It wouldn’t slide at ALL! I watched dozens of videos but it NEVER got better. I was using it correctly and it just was garbage.

  • @susanabelmonte1665

    I have this and really like it. It does take a learning curve. The non-cover plates is for straightening. The cover side which is what goes towards your head is used for curling. Jacynda, a hairstylist herself,who created / designed this product does tutorials every Wednesday on Facebook to demonstrate how she uses it. If you have it and didn't return it it might be worth watching it and see if yoi can end up using it. I know one thing she mentions is to use mininal pressure which could be why it pulls on your hair.

  • @unicornamalthea1559
    @unicornamalthea1559 5 лет назад +398

    You're literally using it backwards honey! That's why you're grinding your hair. You just gave a bad review out of ignorance. No offense, that's just what it is. And you turned away so many people from a good product because they trust your opinion. Please be responsible enough to research how to use a product before you ruin it's reputation the next time you use your reputation to promote, or run it into the ground, hon. I can see you mean well.
    By the way, the less pressure you place on your hair with it, the better. Your hair is supposed to be coming OUT from the side that has that lip, not going INTO the iron through the side with the lip.

  • @jennifermc809

    I have this iron and if u clamp down on your hair, holding it the other way, u will get fabulous results! Also, I use a really good flat iron product on my blow dried hair before I use the Tyme and I have no pulling or shearing.
    What is the other brand flat iron that u used during this review? I like the way it did your hair!

    Glad I didn’t watch this before buying. The Tyme works amazing on my hair. You have to watch the right video to learn but once you understand the rules it’s simple. It doesn’t tug or pull in my experience, if held correctly, and you get adorable shiny curls. Also, it straightens perfectly and I don’t have to touch up like I normally do. Very happy I bought the Tyme iron.

  • @Sarah-io3el
    @Sarah-io3el 5 лет назад +7

    I have this and was going through the same issues. Fortunately, Tyme has WONDERFUL tutorials that totally helped me out. It used to take me a good hour or more to curl my hair with a wand. This takes me 20 min TOPS! The one thing that I learned was that you should not use much pressure when clamping the iron. Instead, let it just glided through. That is one of the biggest things. Otherwise, you risk kinks, frizziness, and damaging your hair. They also offer video chat sessions where someone from Tyme will teach you one on one. Try the videos and the one on one sessions and you'll love it once you figure it out!P.S. I am in no way affiliated with Tyme.. Just a happy customer!

    you are holding and angling wrong plus you dont 'clamp' you barely hold the hair with the irons, you then achieve glide and the most fantastic curls ever. These are not straighteners, but you are using them as if they were.

  • @longislander357
    @longislander357 5 лет назад

    If you hear or feel any kind of grinding or snagging with your hair....?? Your individual hair cuticles are blown wide open. Think of your hair like a pine comb. When it's closed that's what your hair should be like (smooth, not crunchy sounding) when the pine comb is open it's the best example of the hair cuticle during a color process or damaging heat source.

    I’m so glad you did this review. I had been watching videos about the Tyme Iron and reading reviews for months, to finally then buy the iron and have the exact problem with hair grinding as you did. I learned to use it well, but I couldn’t stand the hair tugging and grinding the way you described and returned it. Even using it the proper way as described by Tyme itself, it still damaged my hair. So glad I wasn’t alone in thinking this!! Thanks!!

    I could see and hear exactly what you were trying to say. I think the overlap scissor motion is actally a design fault. The way you have to use it on the hair is bound to tug. I don't understand what these designers were thinking of

    So I have heard that sometimes you can’t trust amazon with products like that, like I wouldn’t recommend buy shampoo and conditioner or other hair product on amazon. So maybe that is a nock off of the actual tyme iron. you need almost no tension with this tool you can do it with it partially open you look like you were squeezing it closed, and they say to lightly close it and they have free lessons and you used it wrong at 4:09 and on the part with that huge grinding sound on the extensions, you're supposed to have the the closed side to the head when you start, i'm not trying to be rude i was just pointing out some things you did wrong.

    • @Milabuco
      @Milabuco  5 лет назад +29

      Glad it works for you. However, I have tried it many different ways - positioning and rotating it different ways; squeezing more and less. Unfortunately it does not work. The packaging is pointless, there is not need for the lip, it plays no function that I could see (it's just to make it seem different). The mechanics of it are questionable because the motion puts the hair into tension. A flat iron can gives much better results and it's much more versatile than this product.

    I've wanted to buy one of these for such a long time as there a are not many more I haven't tried. All curls in my hair never seem to hold for long and fall out so I'm sceptical as to whether or not to try it or save money and don't bother

    This video is the scariest thing I’ve seen all October! That grinding noise is terrifying! 😰

    Tyme offers a free Facetime tutorial, fyi. After I learned how to use the iron I love my curls when I use it.

    I don’t think that’s a true tyme iron. I’ve been thinking of getting one and I’ve seen a lot of videos and done research, and there are brown lines showing which side should be towards your head. Did you get it from the tyme website or amazon? Also, the plates are gold on the tyme iron website. I would hate to think you got ripped off.

      I looked on their website before I bought it from amazon and they look identical. The plates are gold. Either way, it's going back.

      Milabu I’ve been waiting for you to review it because I trust your opinion, I will not be buying it. Especially after hearing what it does to the hair!

      The tyme pro doesn’t have the lines. I ordered directly from them and no lines. Don’t like it either.

      I agree with you. On the real Tyme iron pro there’s “TYME” in big letters on one side and like you said there are lines to help guide you and I didn’t see either of those. I also doing think she needed to pull that hard....

    I’ve seen this product so many times & thought it looked fun, but the price is very high. With your review I can find something else that’ll do a better job. I like the other item you used briefly, so I’ll do some research on that one. Thx much for this review.😊
