OMG what an incredible lesson this is! Andy Frazer is my favourite bassist of all time and I was fortunate enough (and old enough) to see Free play live at Brunel University in 1969 shortly before the release of their debut album ‘Tons of Sobs’ and when Andy was just sixteen years old. Amazing group. RIP Andy and Paul and thank you for all the great music and thank you Greg for raising the profile of one of the greatest groups and bassists of all time.
Just listening to Free at the Isle of Wight in 1970!!!! Yes, I was lucky enough to be there as a 17 year old. WHAT a fantastic and distinctive bassist Andy Fraser was. You could tell his lolloping basslines a mile away. Greg, you pick THE best songs and bands to show us. Maybe one day I'll be able to do ONE of them 😂
Thanks! I’m always constantly impressed when I find a new Andy Fraser bass line. He’s so great! If you want something easier then don’t look at this weeks lesson on Saturday - covering sone great playing from Nathan East!! 😀
In my opinion Andy Fraser was up there with the best of them the solo that he does on ( Mr Big ) is probs the best I've heard in my life R.I.P andy fraser and thanks for the awesome sounds
I agree Phil, I’m more impressed every time I analyse another one of his bass lines. I’ve been intending to take on the Mr Big solo in a lesson for ages. I must get round to it!
@@lynngraver8080 thanks. I’m a big fan of Andy Fraser. He was such an inventive player. Unbelievable playing on Tons Of Sobs album when he was only 16 years old!
@@GregsBassShed i knew nothing about him until mr big popped up on my computor and i had never even bothered about a bass guitar or how good it could sound and he was so young i watched it over and over again i was mesmerized by his playing and his style he made that song his own by his fantastic playing
Yea Greg, thez so many great bass parts in free, Mr Big solo, moonshine, heartbreaker, I'm a mover... I'll be creeping.. Really good stuff wot ya doin keep it up!!
Cheers for the lesson Greg;excellent as usual.I need some new strings soon;had my current set on nearly a year !!!!Don't know whether to boil these(Rotosound swing bass)or buy another set of Roto's or may go for some Ernie Ball's slinkys ;so much choice out there.
Glad you like the lesson, some challenging bass lines in there! I have always liked the Rotosound Swing Bass for roundwounds. I have never tried the Slinkys. Maybe give them a go and report back!
Hi Greg, am I missing something here. Should this Video not be number 112 in the series and not 102. you seem to have 2 #102 videos and the Doobies Brothers- Down in the Track take the 102 Spot. Sorry to be picky, unless I have missed something in which case sorry for being a Dumbass.
