Ted - Good job on making Curl (plan vid) and Ben (talk and demo) and work for you. This THP show is a great experience for all of you (the main guys and the interns) and you will all remember this time period fondly for the rest of your lives. You all know a great deal about hunting and are learning more, and we the Public are learning from you. Keep up the great work.
if you guys do local hunts or just hunts close to your house I take a thermos if I plan on staying out all day and cook hot pockets and stuff them into the empty thermos. keeps them warm/hot for a while. beats eating the same thing over and over.
U can buy a big jug of permetherin at Tractor supply for around $30. Cut it with water to get the correct concentration. I use about an ounce per gallon. Put your clothes in 5 gallon bucket and pour the mix in. U can do a bunch of outfits with a gallon. Just make sure u purchase a water based permethrin. Way cheaper than buying the name brand.
You don't need to soak your clothes. Just spray it on. Get a good heavy duty hand sprayer, the $5 ones not the cheap $1 crap, and spray everything with it. Just the outside. Don't forget your hat and socks and inside your boots.
Got a hot tip for you guys. Learned this when I hiked the Appalachian trail don't use the swear bags they're going to pop and plus it's hard to fill them up with water. Used two smart water bottles the Sawyer filters grew right on
I can attest! Was also on the App trail and used a couple Smart water bottles. Also allowed me to carry two extra bags of dirty water to refill the Smart water bottles.
Hey guys, a year ago I got into sous vide cooking. This yearI bagged a nice Tom on our Neighbors property, invited come over for dinner and cook wild turkey sous vide style. I was blown away how tender and easy it was. Our neighbors claimed that it was the best ever. This was the first time I used this method but since then I have been cooking venison this way. Like last night I cooked a 4 lb roast that I marinated in soy and brown sugar…put it in the “bath” for 24 hrs at 130 degrees then threw it on a hot grill to sear, so tender, so delicious but best of all … so easy….no mess…I plan to bring this camping this year on the hunts that have electric hookups….a must try.
I always carry a whistle (like a coaches whistle) in my hunting gear. If you get lost or hurt a whistle is louder and will travel farther than your voice and you can blow a whistle longer than you can yell for help. Big help if you need someone to find you in the wood and in the dark.
If the neck roast seems a bit tough... you haven't cooked it long enough! If you want to save time on cooking meat, invest in a pressure cooker (Insta-Pot) type pressure cooker. 25 to 30 minutes in my PC has turned any meat I've cooked in it like pulled pork consistency. I carry 3 or 4 bottles of water in my pack, but I transfer the water from those LOUD think crinkley bottles into thicker (Mountain Dew type) or any 20 oz. soft drink bottle. Zero crinkle! Thanks for the gear review!!
Salt the neck roast liberally the night before and let it sit in the fridge in a zip loc overnight. Just keep it mostly submerged in whatever liquid you're cooking it in and don't pull it till it's falling off the bone. Look up Hank Shaw's venison Barbacoa recipe, pretty simple and delicious. Makes awesome tacos.
This channel should be required watching for new nhunters. SO MUCH REAL AND USEFUL INFO. Not a guy schiolling thousands of dollars of crap. WELL DONE BOYS.
Ted, paracord figure 8 method for your pullup rope. I put a small nite-ize gear tie on the end of mine to attach to my bow quick and quiet. Ask your buddy Taylor Chamberlain about it.
Ted if you want your buckles to be quiet on your sticks try those Yak Grips.you can cut them in half and cover two buckles with one grip.its a neoprene sleeve.you can still operate the buckle like normal but if the bounce off anything its silent.check them out.when ya cut them in half ya gotta throw a stitch or two where you cut them.then the stitching won't come undone
Always wondered if the call wasn't coming across very well with audio or is it just awesome. And now I know my suspicions were right. It's awesome going to buy 5.
I used to work at the factory that packaged those game bags, koolabuck in brookville Pennsylvania, wasnt too bad of a job the guys who owns the company is the host of The Love Of The Hunt show
The tick spray you guys use ( Permethrin ). In ohio you can get it in concentrate 3.2% @ rural king with instructions for use in a pump sprayer. For $9.99 ( 1 pint makes 5 gal )Or TSC concentrate 17% with instructions 4oz per gal in plump sprayer for $19.99. And will last an entire season
Man y'all are getting me fired up for season in a little over a month!! If any of you guys need a place to stay in West Virginia let me know!! We have a pretty slick camp set up on our farm with electricity, running water & plenty of cabins!
Try pressure canning some of your meat . It's easy to do, an It's tender an moist. Great for all kinds of recipes. From simple sandwiches, tacos , soups , etc. Nice thing is you can eat it out of the jar with out cooking if need be. Great to have at camp
I just got a new vacuum sealer from outrigger outdoors and its nice.it has a digital scale on top to weigh your food before you seal it so you have the exact portions you need.i thought that was a handy option.it was the same price as the one mentioned in this video.
Hello THP on that neck roast you guys should invest in a presto pressure cooker it will make it soft as butter in 30 min. More or less. You can purchase the XL pot at Walmart for like 80 bucks or so. Its worth its weight in gold. Happy hunting and cooking with that new pot. Im a subscriber and love the videos 🎥
Great video guys. I have to say I'm jealous of you young guys doing what you love!! Find yourself a recipe for Mississippi Venison pot roast!! Woo!! Is it good . Had some the other day. Good luck this season and always be safe!! If it's brown it's down!!! Wack'em stack'em....wrap'em n pack'em!!!
For those deer necks: 1/3 salt and 2/3 brown sugar, cover the neck bone and let sit for 24 hours. Smoke the neck and add to a pot of soup beans. It will change your life, maybe.
Cook the roast for 10 hrs on low then add your stew fixins not worth shooting if not worth eating antlers just a garnish 🤣👍 as much time as you all spend on your feet good boots are a must How much are your feet worth 3 mi from the truck
Steve from meateater has a pretty good way and video on preserving meat in the freezer ect. On his channel. It is pretty spot on to how I was taught how to take care of my game when I got it home.
Hey guys have you heard of mule tape? It's from electrical supply store. So not your typical hunting supply. But it's super strong. And if you want to quarter up a deer out in the woods I would like to send the pictures of how I do it especially if you are by yourself.
I make barbeque out of my venison neck roasts. Throw some BBQ rub on it, place it in the crock pot all day, then shred it, add BBQ sauce, and put it on buns.
Ted, you need a Doyle’s Gear Hoist to make your pull up rope life much easier. You also need amsteel daisy chains to avoid having to use any buckles on your sticks.
Those Doyle's gears hoists are noisy, heavy and unreliable. Good Ole fashioned 550 paracord with a carabiner rolls up nicely and never gets tangled. Also it's lightweight and silent.
Hey what dates y’all goin be in Michigan for deer? Will you guys be here for the opener? Oct 1st and hunt a few days? Anyway you guys should try to do a meet and greet at eatch state U go to
Great video guys! Throw that roast in the crockpot and start it right before bed with onions even if the recipe doesn’t call for them. All my venison and fishy tasting fish get cooked with onions. I can fool a seasoned sportsman into believing they are eating fresh walleye fillets just by mincing some onions and putting them into my traditional batter. Onion cuts gamie taste out like nothin else and you won’t taste the onion at all, just neutralizes the meat or fish and sets it up for your other seasoning/recipe
Nice preseason gear dump. Way to get the interns involved early even though Curly spent more time behind the camera and let Ben be up in front of the camera 🎥. I can’t wait to see Ted putting the stalk on a speed goat, same with Zach in New Mexico as he tries his stalking skills on mule deer 🦌. I am guessing Wyoming will be mule deer 🦌 too, even though I know that they have whitetail deer there.
I know this video is a little old just asking here because of the type of video it is and im sure its been asked before and ive missed it but what kind and/or model cameras do you guys use or prefer. Wanting to get one but honestly dont know where to start. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Love your guys content, keep it up
There are a bunch of videos on doing exactly this from several years ago. They have podcasts and even field trips where they break down properties in detail. Loads of content.
What I learned in the marines. Never go cheap on boots. Always pays off

Hot pockets smell to high heaven, every deer in the county can tell you're eating one.
@@mztd912 haha, true they do stink up the house. I havent had any issues while in the stand though.

Ted is the veteran the glue. Crack that whip Ted. Interns: cmon boys act like you been in the championship before.
+1 on the Crispi Summits. The absolute best boots I’ve ever worn out of my 35 years of hunting.

Fired up that Ted and warb are coming to Arkansas this year. Good luck guys
The way I look at it, when it comes to your feet… nothing is to expensive. You stand, walk, run, climb, everything you do your feet carry everything.
I'm about to quit my job and do my own deer tour. That's my real dream, not being a corporate slave. It's no fun and getting older every day.
Good luck bro!
Don't talk about it be about it!
We're all slaves to our debt collecting tax masters who wear small hats and talk funny
Good stuff boys. Counting down the days. Can't wait to see this season's tour.

You guys should do a public land archery bear hunt, I feel like a lot of people would like it.
Nah nah nah that ain’t right
@@policaroc why not?
Completely agree had definitely needs a new retractable pull-up rub system
I love the shirt Ben! Homeschooled all the way. 🤙
We homeschool as well.
Homeschooling gives you so much time to hunt in HS. I got to get me one of those shirts 😂
Best pull up rope that never gets tangled...The Strapper!

Hell yeah, Ted! I have the same fanny pack. I sewed clips and straps on the bottom to hold more gear like my coat or a rolled up sit pad

Looking forward to the season starting.

I use one of those rubber coin purse things to put my milk weeds in…. Works great

Duct tape wrapped around an old bank card is a big help, doesn't take up much room.

Apple cider vinegar. Takes out gamely taste and helps softened the meat
