1/3 of my wardrobe and I feel like I have more choice not less because, as you say, I’m excited about what’s hanging. What consignment do you send your clothes to in Toronto?
On Friday I was honoured to help my friend to declutter his late wife's clothing. He felt ready as it was bringing back sad memories to have her possessions everywhere, but he needed some support with it. He kept some clothes which she made herself or which were particularly special, he gave me a small number of items, and the rest will go the the charity shop for the hospice where she died. The shop have said that anything which can't be sold in the shop can be sold for rags. Luckily my friend is able to see this as a step towards having visitors more easily as he is gradually creating more space.
Good job! I used to love wearing jeans. I had a big collection when I was younger. Now, I just own a couple of them, and barely reach for. I don’t like the constricting feeling of denim pants . Now my thing are dresses. I find it easy to style, comfortable, and favorable for my athletic hourglass figure.
Whatever you have begun... keep it up. Your positive energy is being amped up by some obvious joy and deep peace. Terrifically helpful and timely video for me. Thanks as always.
Again, flawless timing. I am just unpacking my closet after a move. I decluttered before packing but I feel good about going through things again to make sure I love everything
I have been finding that its getting easier and easier to get rid of my work clothing now that I've retired -- it was so hard in the beginning because they are pieces that were lovely for work but don't really work in my everyday life now...but once I get going I"m almost worried that I"m too ruthless...this was a good watch!
Some thing I didn’t entirely understand when I started working out, was that my body was going to change… A lot. Many of my favorite pieces of clothing no longer fit and won’t again because the way my body has changed and the muscle I have gained. I would rather be strong And I appreciate my body so much more now. I do miss my clothes but they are just clothes. It has actually given me opportunity to change my style a little bit to be more me. As I shop for things that do fit. Now going through a third pregnancy… I put a pause on shopping, except for things that need to fit in my maternity body. It will be interesting to see how my style involved as I continue to work out, grow a baby, and go through postpartum for a third time.
Another really great video Christina! I have noticed the same thing too - when I really like an item and I buy it in another colour, I almost never wear that other colour. Now I just don't buy a second colour, but it did take me a while for me to notice my own behavioural patterns.
Thank you for this! I am slowly de cluttering the entire house 😅 I feel all our stuff is taking up way too many space which isn’t necessary. But with clothing I am in a funky space right now since in the past 3.5 years I completely changed jobs, started studying again and got two kids. So everything changed and I am still figuring out what my style is right now. But I definitely do not this many clothes! Planning on doing a big de clutter in the summer holidays 😊 This video was definitely inspiring!
So excited for your move! I shall be happily living vicariously through you the next while. I was thinking a declutter takes on a whole different feeling/meaning during a move. Must have felt great 😊
Would love to know your final experience with consignment (what sold, what didn’t, etc.). I’ve always sold my own items but definitely understand the convenience of consignment. Have a lovely long weekend! And congrats on the new place 🎉🎉
Vintage Banana Republic leather is unmatched and is the best! Also don't get rid of your Chloé Suzanna boots! I just got mine and wanted them since high school and they're truly timeless! Especially when you're feeling Moto and edgy they just make you feel soooo good!
I have two closets. And I really need to go through the closet in the guest bedroom. It’s full of dresses, blazers and handbags. My granddaughters went through a lot of my bags. So there is a lot less of them. I keep my good ones in my bedroom closet. They don’t get to touch them. Plus, I keep pillows for when all the grandkids come to stay. One time we had six grandkids and one of their live in boyfriends here. I live in a small house now. We downsized a lot when we moved the last time. We went from a three bedroom two and a half bathroom bilevel house to a small ranch three bedroom two bath home. We have land now. But the house is small. It’s okay for my husband, me and our dogs. But not for all those extra grandkids. Now my oldest granddaughter and her boyfriend just had a baby. So when she comes without a baby she brings at least three bags. I can’t imagine what it will be like with a baby.
Christina my sister always always looking forward to your videos so so much and she was eagerly waiting for this video you are my inspiration and I wish you have a beautiful weekend💗💫🙂
I've gone through various declutter phases in my life for the past 20 years -- books, music, recordings, dishes & kitchen items, clothes -- and one of the tools I use to help me decide "stay or go" is a pendulum. I'd still be sitting, deciding whether or not to keep this item if I didn't use a pendulum, and by now I'm pretty good at it. A pendulum helps me see, on the outside, what my gut knows. Over the years of using the pendulum I've gotten better knowing how I feel inside and what my inside is telling me. At first it was seriously hard to tell. I rarely regret something I'm giving away or feel I've made a mistake when using the pendulum. The green shirt -- even though small and doesn't take up much space, I don't think that's "your" green. It's more a grass-green, summer green color. Your green is a winter green. So sorry to hear about the Gucci shoes. You would think they would have figured out how to make comfortable shoes by now. Last week Frederique Bros did a video on the fast-fashion manufacturers and the consequences of their practices, apologizing for her own videos over the years. Uniqlo is on the list of manufacturers to avoid. I rarely shop directly from stores, mostly go second-hand, and don't buy from Uniqlo, but I'm going to watch and make sure not to even buy from these brands, second-hand. It's an eye-opening video that she did. Something to think about.
Great video, Christina! It popped up for me just as I was considering a declutter, which could be a sign ;) I really like the tips you gave in the video, like the fact that there is no timeline for storage, and that you had the chance to wear things but just never did. I'll be holding that in mind when I do my declutter. Thanks for sharing 💖
😱 i would really be unable to let vintage levis go! they are so unique and hard to find the right fit! isn't it better to keep at least the most favourite ones for the future?
Moving is a great motivator to declutter, but I’ve never been one that can pull everything out and declutter. It’s much to overwhelming and I tend to make make careless mistakes.
@@Christinamychas I was hoping you would. I have a vintage blazer from my mom and vintage bellbottoms from my dad. Whether they fit or not they're keepsakes!
Such great timing as I continue the slow process of decluttering. Toronto specific question but what consignment place do you use? I am so cognizant of the piles of things that salvation army gets these days.
hi christina! would you like to make a video about your cosmetic procedures? as a female identifying person i appreciate transparency in this department, since it messes so easily with our self image if not adressed..
I'm interested in "leveling up" my shoes, because I've been wearing the same ones for ... nearly a decade ... because any new ones I buy never quite fit. Is there any place you recommend looking for second-hand shoes, so I can try out something nicer without making a big, expensive dive?
Christina, Have you tried the sam edelman mules/if so did those hurt you as well? I am torn between those and the Gucci ones. and was surpised to hear the gucci ones hurt your feet
I'd suggest holding ont some of the too small things if I was you (especially the levi's!), it's possible your body may change again and then you'll need to go out and repurchase everything
What have you decluttered lately?!
At the end of each school year, my boys and I go through their room. I'm amazed at how much stuff we get rid of each time. Feels so good!

@@Christinamychas Thanks! I’m new to your channel and love the vibe … thanks so much for sharing your wisdom with all of us!
Everything’s on top of my bed waiting to get decluttered 😂 hope to get inspired by this video! ❤

same here, and dresses look so beautiful on women. I am a bit tired of the oversized boyish trend
So happy to follow someone who's building muscles ❤ love your channel! Glad you kept the green top 👏
