Answer : Cooperation Question : Why is the family also called a school? Answer : The family is also a ‘school’ because children learn important values such as ahimsa (non-violence), daana (giving), sevaa (service) and tyaaga (sacrifice). Individuals in the family often give up their own needs to take care of the family’s needs. Question : Define a community. Answer : A community is a group of connected people where families are connected not only within themselves, but also with other families and the people around them. Question : For what purposes can a community come together? Answer : Members of a community come together for various reasons, like celebrating festivals and organising feasts, weddings and other events. In some villages, people come together to support each other with agricultural practices like land preparation, sowing and harvesting. Tribal communities agree upon some practices on the use of shared natural wealth and resources such as water, grazing lands and forest produce. Question : What are some of the rules you follow in your family and neighbourhood? Why are they important? Answer : I live in a city environment so the rules I follow here would be different from those in a rural environment. At home, I speak respectfully to family members and listen when others are speaking to ensure harmony and build good relationships. The household chores are among family members at home so that everyone contributes to the upkeep of the home. I set a time limit on my screen time which is a rule in our home. In the neighbourhood, I do not speak loudly outside so that I do not disturb anyone. I dispose of the trash in the dustbin and do not litter. I offer help whenever any neighbour needs it. By following these rules, I contribute to a supportive, respectful, and harmonious living environment for everyone.
