During the Bangladesh war, Mujibur Rahman was in jail in then West Pakistan. After Pakistan’s humiliating defeat, when India captured about a million Pakistani POWs (a record number in the history of any war), Indira Gandhi (only Indian PM who can claim a war victory) negotiated to release Mujibur from the Jail and he was brought to Delhi directly from West Pakistan before going to Bangladesh on their Independence day. I was fortunate enough to see Mujibur live from a distance in Delhi on that rainy fogy day of March 1971 (I was IIT Delhi student).
To further confirm some info you heard: All the army officers involved in the Mujibur murder were posted abroad in various Bangladeshi Embassies under diplomatic cover, and I know this first hand. During early 1980s, I was in Ottawa, Canada, where one of Bangladeshi Embassy employee (not a diplomat) was my neighbor and because I speak Bengali, he was friendly to me and told me at that time that all officers are high level diplomats in various Embassies and one of them was in Ottawa at that time.

In 1948 Army was sent only after political decision and stoped midway creating ceasefire line now called LOC, in 1999 PM’s direction was not to cross LOC and army had to follow, all surgical strikes and Balakote strikes were not due to armed forces adventure but result of highest level direction and PM is the chair person , same happened in 1971 also , so readers can decide the power structure of democratic India and disciplined Army. Bangladesh was ruled for a long time by anti Indian group backed by India’s adversaries, so few disgruntled people of NE were exploited . Today there is no such support from across the border.

They said that before the war pakistan issued a fatwa saying all bengalis were disbelivers for fighting against pakistan a sultanate of god so it was ok to kill ANY BENGALI.

@V Garg the hindu population percentage wise even in india has declined if u look at the census statistics its because hindus have less kids than Muslims in general. The hindu population in Bangladesh has declined because many of them move to western countries or india since india welcome Hindus from other countries and they feel they can make more money in india than Bangladesh. The hindu population in Bangladesh was NEVER 32 percent i dont know where you're getting your facta bro. Highest percentage right after partition was 21 percent. What Shekhar Gupta leaves out is the fact that Capt Abdul Majid was sheltered in Kolkata (Calcutta) for a shocking 22 ( twentytwo) years by the Jyoti Basu govt and then Mamata Banerji. He was provided with all documents of an Indian citizen i.e. passport, Aadhar card, Pan card, and all else. In other words he became an Indian citizen aided by India. So can we safely say that the Indian state was sheltering an Islamic jihadi which is comparable to Pakistan sheltering all the terrorists wanted by India for eg Hafiz Saeed, Dawood Ibrahim etc? So how are we different from Pakistan? Bangladesh is yet to or may not comment to keep relations with India on track.
Now comes the best part. Capt Abdul Majid went back to Bangladesh because of the NPR/NRC to be implemented in India. So it amplifies the reasons why NPR/NRC has to be implemented in India to weed out these undesirable illegal immigrants who are being supported and nurtured as a vote bank. Today India has become an open sanctuary for all these undesirables who come here knowing that the Indian politicians will help them either on the basis of the Muslim Ummah or shelter them as a vote bank The number of Rohingyas and Bangladeshis is in millions and our politicians whether in West Bengal, Kerala, Delhi and elsewhere are helping them. Who will explain how about a lakh of Rohingya muslims have been settled in Jammu? To change the demographic pattern and thus the votes?
Mr Shekhar Gupta please answer. Waiting for your reply.

    You should watch the program
Rajkahon in Bangladesh tv. Two senior officers of the Bangladesh army said categorically that the military attaché of Britain used to go to the army cantonment regularly to talk to Zia Rahman. You are ignoring the Conspiracy angle organized by the UK and the USA in collaboration with Zia Rahman who after a few months became the dictator. He sent all the killers to various embassies of Bangladesh in different countries, made the country Islamic and got recognition from China, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan.

Mujib once told Hasina & Rehana to ask for support to Khondokar Mushtaq if there is a military coup in Bangladesh. But fortunately both sisters were in Germany when that coup took place.
But where did Mushtaq planned all this with the majors? And why the US embassy in Dhaka patrolling around the entire city that morning? And finally, why general Jiaur Rahman let them all escape the country after they killed the entire family?
Here is the fact. That was not only killing our beloved Bongobondu, but they destroyed the hard earned independence that they never approved to begin with. They are all independence deniers and the US took advantage to restore West Pakistan. You would be shocked the number of people still wish it was West Pakistan.

It proved again that it is not so hard for anyone from anywhre to get all necessary documents includjng Indian passport .Govt should check this. I think Sheikh Mujibar Rahman and his entire family assassination had been executed by a group of Bangladesh Army by the support of ISI.

Why speak in a language when you're neither comfortable nor authentic expressing? But mental slavery of India's so-called "Intellectual" class doesn't seem to embarrass #ShekharGupta & his kind.
It's not only his "funny" accent but also delivery of words that's so unnatural, it makes me cringe.
Unfortunately these "colonial" enslaved mindset dominated India ever since Brits left, leaving behind "brown sahibs" full of inferiority complex.
And here we are, almost 70 years of self rule but without self confidence to speak his mother tongue, Shekhar & his elite media bubble, just look at their existence, wearing "Khadi" not as a proud Indian product but because "khadi" has become a uniform wore to display "political power" & "English" language displaying "intellectualism".
In short, Indians have lost their true identity after almost 1000 years of slavery & occupation by foreign cultures. And if some people try to reintroduce true Indian identity, these " Brown Sahibs" call them "Sanghi or Hindu Fascist" in a derogatory fashion.
British haven't left us, they still occupy us through their mental slaves or Brown sahibs like Shekhar Gupta.

in Dec 1970, East & West Pakistan held Elections, only a month after cyclone Bhola had killed over half a million in East Pakistan. Sheikh Mujibur Rehman's Awami League won a landslide victory but the Pakistani military refused to hand over power, probably due to his politics given the cold war, the Vietnam war and communist insurgency in Malaysia. India saw an opportunity to dismember Pakistan and the rest is history. His assassination in 1975 suggests even the Bengali military did not trust him. I never understood why Pakistan held elections a month after the deadliest tropical cyclone ever recorded and one of the deadliest natural disasters?

What he could do, when his boss the CNC Shafiullah was coward to face the criminals nor he was able to order Zia any thing? Zia was 2nd in command he could not by pass him for violating army code of conduct. Khaled Mosharof paid the price to make that an example who being lower in command and took action and got killed.
