In case anyone's unaware, Gordon's name and paint job have been changed because he's now owned by Virgin, a legendarily shit company who bought a bunch of trains when they privatised the railways. The Bearded Controller is, no doubt, Sir Richard Branson, CEO of that company and Britain's own Elon Musk of the 90's.
I didn’t think anyone was gonna actually get it thank you 😭
@@ItsTrainBoy would transpennine express appear because it’s just bad
Was virgin really that bad tho

“Gordon the Virgin Engine” is by far the best name for any character in a book series
Yes
@@wilbertawdrypictures5647 could you not spam this every comment?
He would be painted red and dark grey with white lines hehe
Can’t wait for the sequel: Thomas files for Unemployment
You mean “Thomas files for 7th degree bankruptcy “
What Mattel has done to the Thomas franchise in a nutshell.
likewise, I can see the difference between the braindead guy with glasses and the guy with a funny face and a weird name
who ever drew the picture of Thomas did a very accurate job of drawing a E2 tank engine
I adore your narrations they take me back to early seasons which was almost as epic as your voice is.
“Gordon the Virgin Engine”
*Hold up-*
Virgin was a shitty private company that bought a lot of engines once they were privatized
What a amazing video
Good work Trainboy!
you didn't even watch the video yet
@@theofficialSeir9 ikr lol
@@theofficialSeir9 but he has a point it was amazing
I didn't know that this was a thing until today, save for your adaptations. I honestly thought that you wrote those stories. Did this serve inspiration for other short stories of yours?
This has aged like wine. Wow! Just for chapter one?! Wow!
How does a Thomas parody have such an impactful critique of capitalism
It’s insane
To be fair, The Railway series, and the episodes based on it, were all about this kinda stuff. The troublesome trucks were commentary on privately owned rail cars, which were often poorly maintained, often had problems with their brakes slipping or locking up, and generally they caused a lot of financial, property, and bodily damage, as well as just generally making things worse for workers. The whole thing about diesels is also a metaphor(and also just a real thing that was happening) for the privatization of railways. Sodor is a REFUGE island for steam locomotives. Diesels could potentially be fine, and I don't think the Reverend was against reasonable incorporation, assuming it came with proper training, which it often didn't.
The true Dark Side of Thomas
Beautiful redub
I'm gonna love this series! A Fat Controller, a Great Controller and a Bearded Controller! I need to a copy of this book!
I’ve got to get my hands on a copy of this book.
Nice video mate, best wishes from the UK as always. 👍🏻
are you going to read any more of these stories
Hopefully the whole book! :)
@@ItsTrainBoy i wrote a scrip idea story for a tv series episode a few years back it was meant to mainly be a reference to how hard Heritage railways work to put on their days out with Thomas events as the Fat controller asks for a Female engine driver to come over and work alongside Emily when he discovers that her normal driver can't come to work due to getting a bad cold. by the end of the story as a thank you for her help Lilian Wilson becomes a NWR steam engine driver.
Hey this is hilarious.
I love your content keep it up man. :)
CONTINUE THIS PLEASE
what a classic good job train boy
_communism approved_ thomas the tank engine literature
Such a wierd idea that a system thats so interconnected and needing optimisations that privatising would create confusion, reduce important mid-way stops and reduce safety as every company could go against eachother * looking into camera *
I can't wait for the next one!
When they said “privatised” i felt that
THERES A GOSH DANG TUNNEL WITH A GOSH DANG FACE!…..
This is really weird and interesting
"Gordon the *_virgin engine_*-"
I can't wait for the next story. Thomas tries to sue
Man this awesome!
And it was at this moment that the events of "thomas was pretty pissed off" happened
Man this is cool
Amazing, good video 😀
We need chapter 2👍
Based off the Privatized Railway Series by Margaret Thatcher.
shoulda done something about that scab percy when they had the chance.
there'd better be a story about thatcher visiting sodor in this book.
Did the offical Thomas show creators and rws creators had any offical involvement in this?
Just wondering
i love your video keep it up :)
i can use the audio from this video please
I hope chapter 2is coming soon
thomas and the skyline cars ?
Gordon is no longer virgin, he is now Avanti West Coast.
I don't Know much about you Trainboy but the Classic Cartoons of Thomas The Privatised Tank Engine is a funny Dig at the Conservative Party Trains Privatisition plans with The Smug look of John Major in the Tunnel
Good Video anyways, Its Grand most of the "Thomasfandom" as it is known from my knowledege, prefer the Model Classic show to the CGI
Interesting story.
Where can I find this?
I like it short but good
I still don't understand the storyline. Could someone please explain it to me.
It’s meant to be as if the government owned the railway more and “privatized” it for profit. An almost politically themed Thomas.
@@ItsTrainBoy Wow, that's a cool perspective on which to tell a Thomas the tank engine story.
Next part?
I need more
It's weird, because now the Tories are seriously floating the idea of nationalizing the railway as GBR.
Basically PSR
Cool
Is this going to be like a series or is there only one chapter
A series I’m hoping, there’s about 35 stories :)
didn’t you or someone else do a series about this
Awhile I go adapted two episodes in Trainz, it was pretty poorly done though. I may do it with models one day or something and give it another shot! :)

lol this is a little bit niche! 1990s satire on rail privatisation in the UK based on old Private Eye magazines! Is the audience ready for this?
Say no to Nationalization, Make Railroads Great Again!
umm.... Privatization means it Was owned by the Government and then is changed by different means to Become Private. The Reverse would be Communism. And wasn't the Railway in the Thomas Universe Already Private? or am I missing something? Also being from the US Where All railroads have always been Privately owned, does muddle somethings.
The NWR was part of the BR Network (NORTH WEST Region) also in the US during WWI the railroads were nationalized for a time
@@sockshandle They were not. The USRA oversaw operations and dictated what the railroads could and could not do during WWI, but they were still all privately owned. That experiment was deemed a boondoggle and was not repeated during WWII.
@@sd80mac you are aware that what you said ("Oversaw operations and dictated what railroads could and could not do") is Basically Nationalization (During WWI in the UK the SAME thing happened) and arguably in the UK the railways are still nationalized its the companies that are privatized (National Rail or whatever it's called in the UK maintains the tracks and stations) but back to the USRA the USRA made steam locomotives and ran them Built new tracks too cancelled redundant services and made existing services more efficient it was never officially nationalization as like you said it was an experiment that was deemed a boondoggle but it was an experiment with nationalization (it was after the USRA's tenure that control of the railroads were given back to the owners so for all intents and purposes it was nationalized) In addition the US currently does has a nationalized passenger rail company (Amtrak) though it operates as a "Pseudo-public" corporation as far as I know)
@@sockshandle Dude, you can just admit you’re wrong. No need to state factually incorrect information a second time.
@@sd80mac do you want me to qoute the article? Cause I can quote it "The United States Railroad Administration (USRA) was the name of the nationalized railroad system of the United States between December 28, 1917, and March 1st, 1920.[1] It was possibly the largest American experiment with nationalization, and was undertaken against a background of war emergency" It was a Nationalized system however the experiment as stated was undertaken against a background of a war emergency truth is the "Private" railroads here in the us at the time (of which a good amount of it was actually in receivership) couldn't mobilize efficiently to qoute the article from about 1917 "Finally, in December 1917 the ICC recommended federal control of the railroad industry to ensure efficient operation. The takeover measures were to go beyond simply easing the congestion and expediting the flow of goods; they were to bring all parties-management, labor, investors, and shippers-together in a harmonious whole working on behalf of the national interest. President Wilson issued an order for nationalization on December 26, 1917.[8] This action had been authorized by the Army Appropriations Act of 1916.[9] Federal control extended over the steam and electric railroads with their owned or controlled systems of coastwise and inland water transportation, terminals, terminal companies, terminal associations, sleeping and parlor cars, private cars, private car lines, elevators, warehouses, and telephone and telegraph lines" it is clearly stated there that the USRA was a Nationalized System (similar to both Amtrak and Conrail) and again quoting the article "On March 21, 1918, the Railway Administration Act became law, and Wilson's 1917 nationalization order was affirmed.[10] Wilson appointed his son-in-law, Secretary of the Treasury William Gibbs McAdoo, as Director General of the newly formed USRA.[7]:12
The law guaranteed the return of the railroads to their former owners within 21 months of a peace treaty, and guaranteed that their properties would be handed back in at least as good a condition as when they were taken over. It also guaranteed compensation for the use of their assets at the average operational income of the railroads in the three years previous to nationalization. The act laid down in concrete terms that the nationalization would be only a temporary measure; before, it was not defined as necessarily so" the owners were compensated so you could argue that it was a forced lease to the government but the USRA was a Government operated and owned system thus factually it was a Nationalized network until as stated above "within 21 Months of a peace treaty"
Nobody Cares if you are the first comment
