you mentioned that you remove a lot of crap from the front of the bike and recommend removing the push cable. Could you make a video explaining why and showing what should be removed? im curious
You can always look up the specs on total motorcycle, they usually tell you the engine specs including if it is single or dual carb. Not really a VIN decoder, but it has always been accurate for me =)
Clean up the look as most switch to a single cable throttle sleeve too. Also one lest thing to break and cause you issues down the road. The carb has a spring which returns the cable perfectly fine, just like the design dirtbikes use. Lastly, safety 3rd😂
It's govt mandated equipment. It slows throttle response. I've never had a pull cable get stuck open but I've had a push cable get stuck in the housing and prevent the throttle from rolling off. You don't need it.
Ok heres my question i have a dual carb bike could it be converted to a single?? And if so what would be the pros and cons (eg performance / lumpy/etc ) and i would really like to remove the horrible triangle filter case and replace it for something better without all the plastic ducting wrapping around my engine from the left side to the right
Jesus fuck no, 🤦♂️ i get this question way too often and ive seen at lest 2 dozen of these bikes get absolutely shitbricked becuse of this idea.. Dual carb is literally race shit. Honda moved to singke carb to "reduce emissions thanks to certain agencies bullshit. One carb per cylinder allows for better precise tuning for each cylinder and perfect flow to each cylinder. So could you give me some insight on my confusion? My friend has a 2002 Honda shadow 600, stock with a dual carburetor set up. I just got a free parts bike 2001 shadow 600, has a single carb setup. Now why does my buddies 2002 have a dual carburetor if they stopped in 98?
@ that’s what I was assuming, it threw me off on your video when you said 99+ swapped to single carb and I couldn’t find a straight forward answer to my question
I have. There are many Shadow 600 for sale where I live and as far as I know anything after 99 should have the single carb. So far so good. Another tale sign I know so far is that the newer model from 99 has side panels separated from the rear mudguard, which is also the "duck" type. My confusion is that I see a lot of bikes after 99 without the duck rear fender... Idk if that is only for the VLX and the VLX being a US model and the vt600 a EU one? Totally confused. I think I have to travel the country and check each one's carbs :(
What is actually the difference between a double and a single carb? Sometimes people rebuild bikes with standard 2 carbs into a single, what is the reason for this?
If you can't hit 100 on any of these bikes with these upgrades there's something else going on or you didn't install them properly or you're too heavy for the bike. So, yes.
honestly if a bike owner needs to be told how to tell if they have one carb or two carbs then someone needs to take their tools away because they're too cognitively challenged to work on a motorcycle, they're the kind of people who reverse the carb jets and pinch the slide diaphragm when reassembling carbs then can't figure out why the bike won't run............
rofl i don't know everything but i sure as hell know how to look to see how many carbs are on a motorcycle, they don't need me to start a yt channel, that's what they have you for...@@TJBRUTALCUSTOMS
