A lot of NYC food is HYPED. The experience in a lot of the expensive places is top notch but the food is mid. I actually like the dirty food trucks the best when I’m in NYC.

When I worked at a restaurant and the chicken we served was smaller than usual, and the prices were high, I felt like I wanted to throw in an extra or two pieces of chicken to make up for the size of the food that usually looked bigger. My boss was stingy as hell and said, “nope, it’s quality chicken, if they have a problem with the size, they can get a a refund if they return it, but we sell quality chicken and we haven’t raised our prices, even though there’s inflation, so sell them the right amount.” I felt like I was so wrong for serving people small pieces of chicken lmao, and I knew damm well, they were getting ripped off but then again, if people don’t complain, if managers don’t make the proper portions for the customers, then things will unfortunately stay the same. Shrinkflation is a thing at restaurants lately, COMPLAIN!
nah my man, no one would complain about the portion of the food they receive. it's: a) embarrassing b) if they bring you new dish you'll get a very unpleasant extra surprise sauce from the chef/staff, and since you worked in a restaurant kitchen you either did it yourself or seen it. So, customers should just take it, pay the bill and never come back, basically voting with their wallets.
It's a kind gesture, but I agree with your boss. Quality chicken comes from smaller birds. And giving two extra pieces can really affect the bottom line of the business, which would affect y'all as workers. People know when they aren't getting value for the money. That's when they stop coming. The market will work it out. 🙏🏽
Worked in a restaurant where the owner wanted to have a failing business 4 years 4 "head" managers. First coke head do whatever,second the awesome one had no power, third ignorant drunk got rid of things people loved, and finally the super creep making customers uncomfortable
I've been to Got Fish? and feel the same exact way. The only thing on their menu worth eating are the Crabby Fries. I'm surprised they are still in business with them high ass prices.

Some years back I had the best seafood in my life in New Orleans....and we was getting enough to feed a army platoon for the LOW!....I remember spending about 45 bucks one night and me AND my wife had full dinners AND drinks.
Originally this was a foodtruck and the food was outstanding.The lines would be crazy long even in the rain.Since the restaurants have opened quality has definatley gone down while of course prices have gone up. I don't mind paying for good food and wish it taste like it did on the food truck. I have met the owner and family members a couple times.Nicest people.The background story of opening the business is inspiring.

I totally agree food was horrible and lacked flavor big time and the crab sauces had no flavor I thought they where having a rough day that day. But you confirmed it’s trash 🗑️ and a 5.5 was generous by the way. It’s a 3/10 for me.

As a person who live in VA Hampton roads area for 7 years I'm 50/50 on this. We don't have alot of good food out there and I came from living overseas so after being homesick and I heard they had a food truck selling out everyday it made sense cause it was the same shit everywhere you went over there. But I was incredibly happy to try it when I got back I thought it was straight but the price was OD. But the story of the restaurant is amazing tho

I've lived in two cities on the peninsula previously so yes I have been there.There are many areas where most restaurants aren't chains (unlike Hampton roads) and where a large majority offer fantastic food. I'd rather go to northern va/DC or even Richmond for better restaurants. Some of the places he went to are newer which is why most of us locals haven't heard of them. Also, just so you know...just because he likes them doesn't mean they are great restaurants...opinions do vary you know.
Some people really think that selling fried stuff is easy. Frying is easy but mixing the perfect batter and putting in seasoning and Ingredients that are well mixed is hard

I've never been here, never heard of it, and been a lifelong resident of Newport News. My husband has been there and said it was hot garbage, and he is a total foodie. If he doesn't like a place, he will not take me there. Our tastes are similar 😊❤

Frying is easy but mixing the perfect batter and putting in seasoning and Ingredients that are well mixed is hard

I've never been here, never heard of it, and been a lifelong resident of Newport News. My husband has been there and said it was hot garbage, and he is a total foodie. If he doesn't like a place, he will not take me there. Our tastes are similar 😊❤

You need to come to Essex/middle river and have Pizza John's. Best pizza, pasta and subs in MD. Also need to go to Cockeysville for Andy Nelson's. Best Memphis BBQ in MD
The food and quality has definitely gone down since thwy have opened the restaurants, I liked Gotfish better when it was a food truck. Thank you for coming to the 757. Hope you got to hit some places over on the Peninsula Side of the water

@Incel WarMachine delicious fried everything yes, best in the world nah my boy you just have to do a little traveling like I do when it comes to seafood no one is beating Sri Lanka I really couldn't believe how delicious and well made everything was and not just fried everything like people mostly do here in the states but I'll eat a gumbo anyday

Thank god somebody called this place mid. I’m from VA this is well known to be just okay. Again on average even a place that sucks will be average. I think I take that fact for granted at times looking at other states you visit😂

I live in Alaska, where our waters produce some of THE BEST seafood in the world, and we have to pay stupid high prices for MID (at the very best) seafood, they should ALL be called out for that.
