In todays society people want instant gratification and pretty much nothing else. If it doesn’t satisfy right away then their attention span will spiral. That goes for movies, games, tv shows, ect. Its a shame, but its the world we live in
@@daniellauricella5132 It's literally the fact that they started two years into Batman doing his thing, but poorly. If they actually had the story start off when he first began than a lot of the arguments wouldn't have been made.
“He doesn’t have the dedication” is so stupid because Bruce is literally so dedicated to being Batman in this movie that he isn’t being Bruce Wayne. He IS the cowl at this point and he learns to grow out of that by the end.
@ Yeah it’s almost like that makes this Batman valid. Also other Batmen have at least used their philanthropy to an extent and had a playboy persona, but this Bruce is so dedicated to the cowl he doesn’t even have time for that. This version is so in deep to his mission that it’s consuming him. We might’ve seen that a few times in comics, but never in film.
Yeah, this Batman is basically on a death trip when the movie starts. He doesn't care if he dies, he wants to be in the suit all the time, never wants to be seen in public as Bruce Wayne, only goes in public as Bruce Wayne to do daytime Batman stuff, and is stuck in this cycle of repetitive nightly combat that isn't having the larger effect he'd hoped for. He's becoming disillusioned. And it's ultimately the fact that the larger effect he *does* inspire is a terroristic campaign of political assassinations, that causes him to realize that he has to inspire trust and hope in the good people of Gotham, as much as he inspires fear in criminals. That fear and vengeance alone cannot win his war against the criminal element. It's a great arc for a damaged vigilante taking the first steps toward being a real hero. And bad takes on the movie tend to miss it completely. Even though it's pretty much the entire point.
alfred literally chastises bruce for being so obsessed that he’s not eating or sleeping in the movie. bruce is like an obsessed freak in it alfred has to pressure him to SHOWER
@@donnerbohne7695 Because it is .. Although I also think that movie is extremely overrated. It's also just as messy and bloated as The Batman .. That said, it's still way more entertaining and engaging. The Dark Knight for me has always been a frustrating watch, but I do own a copy and have watched it more than a few times throughout the years. The Batman however I had to watch in two sittings and never had any urge to ever see it again, and much less interested what they're going to do with 'part 2'. I'd say Batman Begins absolutely destroys The Batman on every level even though it's obviously incorporating some of the elements that made that movie great. Anyone who thinks The Batman is better than that movie is either completely delusional or just another goofy zoomer whose opinions aren't really worth much anyway. There are some things to like about The Batman, but it still just ends up being some boring police style procedural with some dude in a goofy costume looking at greeting cards. It's trying to be gritty and grounded but just ends up being pretentious and boring. As far as 'character development' goes .. I didn't care about any of the characters by the end of The Batman and was so happy it was over. Had to watch The Road Warrior to cleanse the palate after that one. 😂
@@Fiveash-ArtI love how just say things. But ends up not giving any reasoning. You got to have crazy levels of BRAINROT if your attention span is this bad.
As someone who’s myself a stickler for comic accuracy, it is incredibly clear that the guy criticizing the movie has not read very many comics if any at all

And of course year one is one of them.. training and working is really different.. its like reading something in college and really doing it in real life..its too much for him to understand maybe.
I absolutely fucking hate that people think Batman is literally ALWAYS ready for anything. This guy is acting like Batman should've completely stopped crime in Gotham before the movie even started
What's the point of being an outside the law vigilante with billions of dollars and every gadget and training you can think of if you can't simply dispose of some mooks? Mafia is powerful, but they are still Humans. Their bones break like all others
This is pretty disingenuous, don't you think. Even if Batman isn't always ready for everything, which no one is saying he should, there is a baseline of discipline and forethought expected of the f***ing character.
@Rengokuo4o6 how could he have for thought for the riddler of the Riddler had never existed yet. I like batman A LOT but the people who pretend he can beat anyone and do anything is fucking annoying as shit. You give me the same vibes as people who say Batman could beat Superman if Superman just decided to Blitz the batcave
"It's not comic accurate" is one of the worst critiques ever, like let it be its own thing smh. referencing the comics is a fun nod but not doing that isn't necessarily bad
When I hear "not comic accurate" it's a 50\50 between something being a total atrocity or the person being a hypocrite. Jackman's Wolverine is like 10% accurate, yet people love him. Eh, same old, liking comes first, then people will come up with the why. Same with disliking
@@steelbear2063I mean do not generalice so much I love patterson batman and jackmans wolvering but I think its a problem that they are not cómic accurate and just for that they will be worst that other more accurate versions and its a problem whit their versions. Thats why my favorite wolvering is the one in deadpool, they really got a lot(but still whit some flaws) of wolvering. Also I still prefer patterson over afflect, afflect is not accurate at all in the morals of the character and thats much more important than the fantastical elements. Sorry for bad english

@@JeronimoStilton14Ben Affleck’s Batman in Zack Snyder’s Justice League trilogy, Micheal Keaton’s Batman in the Tim Burton duo-logy, Christian Bale’s Batman in The Dark Knight trilogy, though to a lesser extent. If you’ve seen those movies you’d know, they do a good bit of killing.
@ are you talking in the “oh that definitely would have killed tnem” sense? Because I can’t recall any killing in the bale series unless you count letting Rhaz die on the train. I’d have to rewatch Affleck and Keaton
Not the worst is a huge understatement. He’s probably the best movie adaptation. West is great for all the wrong reasons, Keaton is pretty good, but not fantastic, Kilmer, same thing, Clooney, is less than great to say the least, bale is good, but the voice takes him down a few pegs, and his cowl in tdk and tdkr is not great, affleck is a cold blooded killer, and Pattinson is just all around good. That doesn’t mean you have to like him, but there’s no glaring flaws in his design or character. (Also sorry for the essay)
I love the fact that no matter how much people hate the Batman, they just can’t deny that Colin Farrell is perfect as the Penguin. Just like Heath Ledger, Farrell overshines the main hero all over again.
I get your point but I gotta disagree with that last part. Pattinson kills it as Batman and overshines the WHOLE movie with his character and performance. This is truly The Batman.
Allow me to introduce Ranting for Vengeance who hated The Penguin(despite not watching it) just cuz they changed the Penguin's surname and he made an absolutely buffoonish video about it.

@@CrusaderWebhead3962 That's mainly cause Penguin is a minor character in the movie and only shows up for about 5 scenes, I doubt that'd be the case if he was the main villain and had just as much screen time. To put it simply when Bale or Pattinson plays Batman people say they did good job playing portraying Batman when Ledger and Farrell play The Joker and Penguin, people say they deserve an Oscar/Emmy
I swear a lotta of the hate the batnan movie gets is so ridiculous, especially with people complaining about jim and catwoman being black, WHO CARES, it doesn't matter, what matters is the acting and writing, I swear people try to find ANYTHING to complain about. And they just ignore all the story telling to try and proove their ridiculous point.
"Giving Joker 1 Million Dollars won’t make him a good person." His lawyers when he’s given 250 million: "The man’s sane and a good person now! Don’t read into it, he just is a good citizen."
I love how basically every critique can be countered by either “but it’s a different version of the character” or “but that’s what he becomes at the end”
I'm dyin at the way that dude like, just listed these characters being Black as something he didn't like. He ain't even give a reason he just said "BLACK PEOPLE???????? EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW" It's so goofy

I always love it when people do critiques of movies without taking notes. He was angry in the first 15 minutes and stuck to that emotion for almost 3 hours. His first like 5 points were ALL answered throughout the movie. The movie LITERALLY explains it very effectively. The Riddler IS a result of the two years he spent beating up criminals. THEN Batman realizes the mistakes of his ways. Besides, we’ve seen the origins of batman extensively. I was happy to see they didnt waste 1h30 to explain a story we’ve seen and known for decades.
Ill add that these cry babies are just very much in love with the idea of the perfect man never making any mistakes. This clouds their vision to no end.
Unpopular opinion: I prefer Robert Pattinson’s Batman over Christian Bale’s Batman. Bale’s Batman spent way too much time getting overshadowed by the villains, has a terrible fighting skills and didn’t do any detective work. And that wasn’t even his fault. It’s Nolan’s fault for not giving him a proper characterization. The Dark Knight is a Joker movie. The Dark Knight Rises is a Bane movie, until it isn’t. The Batman is truly a Batman movie.
I disagree with your take on the Nolan trilogy especially because Batman Begins is legitimately a 10/10 imo, but I agree Robert is better than Bale and this movie is the best Batman movie bar none
Where is the hate for this batman coming from I loved it cuz it touches on the thing batman should be known for being a great detective. Since this is the early stages him fumbling on the puzzle a bit shows growth and shows the viewer why batman has the whole prep time in the first place.
Exactly! This was my favorite live action Batman, I was very critical of the movie when I heard Pattinson was Batman. But I ended up loving it and he quickly became my favorite Batman, the dude killed it and the writing was great, as well as the cinematography, casting and music.
Batman shouldn't need prep time to be a detective. It is shown in many mediums that Batman's detective prowess is pretty much on the fly at the scene which is why he's known as the worlds greatest detective.
I feel like nobody else ever points this out, but Bruce's attitude towards Alfred feels heavily influenced by what he's been through that night. He witnesses a young boy who lost his father, is ruminating about how his work doesn't seem to be having an effect on the city, sees a report mentioning that the anniversary of his parents' death is coming up that week, and THEN Alfred comes in acting frustrated and trying to push him into doing Bruce Wayne stuff. Of COURSE Bruce is annoyed. I doubt he would have said "you're not my father" to Alfred on any other night, he's just in a very emotionally vulnerable state. Also, their final scene together has him apologizing to Alfred about his behavior and more or less outright saying "I love you" to him and they *hold each other's hands!*
Its amazing that this person most likely knows every comic, movie, game, etc that has Batman in it, and still manages to not understand anything about them. At this point he should just say “i don’t like Robert Pattinson because he was in twilight” and that would make more sense than this nonsensical bashing
Im pretty sure Bruce treats Alfred "bad" because hes afraid to get too close. If something happens to Alfred it'd be like losing his parents all over. I've been guilty of that with my own family. Maybe im reading into too much. Idk
Thats exactly what it was, and he got the rude wake up call that he already does care about Alfred like he did his parents with his death scare in the movie and after that moment we don't get much of the both of them, but it's pretty clear he isn't as obtuse or distant towards him.
As a teacher in the school I used to go to once said. An adaptation shouldn't be one-to-one with its source material, it should be honorable to it. The problem with fans like this is that they want everything surface-level of Batman to be adapted, not what makes him compelling. As a Batman fan, I love that he's a flawed detective, a flawed hero, and a flawed human being. I connect more to Bruce that way. The film would've been boring if he was already perfect at everything from the get-go.
One problem of saying "The comics" as a blanket statement is that there is so many iterations. So that statement only means "it goes against the picture of the character that i subjectively likes the best".
If he has an issue with batman taking down street thugs when he's in his second year hes gonna go crazy when he learns arkham batman was taking down streat thugs after over 5 years.
Like think about it ,He is the only Batman who can speak in complete sentences rather than just one liner without sounding like he has a sore throat or utilizing AI to simulate his voice. This Batman can actually talk normally.
That’s actually a very good observation. The Christian bale movies are kind of hard to get through without physically cringing at his voice. He sounds like nails on a goddamn chalkboard 😭
@@John1045 that’s fair. I actually quite liked Keaton’s voice and affleck’s voice, but his is not really put to good use as he has some extremely bad edgy lines
If you ever cite “from the comics” during an argument with me I’m gonna walk out. “The comics” have so many different continuities that if you want to site them as sources then you’d have to count every single comic as a source.
The batman is such an awsome batman movie, the acting, the world building, the villans, the suits, the fight scenes, the tone, almost everything in this movie is spectacular, and a great adaptation of batman, not to sound like a fan boy or anything, but this movie technically doesn't really do anything bad, and the penguin show was just....... incredible, it really makes us hate oz so much, cant wait for the batman 2.
"i don't want a hero that has somewhere to go, I want a hero who's already there" So he's saying it would be better if Batman was just a static character that's already perfect? That sounds boring
If disagreeing with every point this guy made wasn’t enough, him thinking Ben Affleck is the best Batman just sealed the deal on how embarrassing his critiques are.
I think by far the worst ever take I’ve heard on Pattinson being the worst Batman was saying some shit like “ what kind of Batman let’s people put hands on him” I genuinely couldn’t think of a way to respond to that outside of every Batman gets hands put him
If he’d read the comics at all he’d know that for a good part of his history, Batman was constantly being knocked out by people sneaking up behind him.
In defense of an early career Batman being angry: Yes, Bruce trains and studies with many gurus to master his mind and body. But he never had to APPLY what he learned in his travels to his crume fighting. So naturaly, even with all that knowledge, he could possibly still fall victim to his emotions and make mistakes when he's starting out as Batman. He's processing what he's learned around the world, and refining it every night to become the experienced and zen Batman that we know and love.
Saw someone say Pattinson is a bad batman because it took him an entire movie to learn to be a symbol of hope instead of just learning it extremely early into the movie, which made it boring to watch.
My only rebuttal to people who complain about “comic accuracy” is that these comic book movies and shows are adaptations of the comics. They are not mean to be 1 to 1 with them. Hell even different comic runs in different eras/universes handle Batman in slightly different ways. Yes this Batman isn’t as honed in as comic Batman, but he did train. In the prequel novel he travels to several countries while attending differing schools and in those countries he trains in their specific martial arts. (I think that’s what happens it’s been a while since I’ve watched a review on it). Alfred also trained him a bit as well. And to say he’s “untrained” is CRAZY. NO ONE in The Batman bests him in combat the only time he gets knocked down for a while is because he took a damn 12 gauge to the chest.
The warehouse scene alone was a better reason to watch the bloated mess that was BvS than anything in that Boring a** movie The Batman. Sorry .. Ben Affleck wasn't the problem with that movie. I don't necessarily think Patinson was the problem with The Batman either. It was the movie that was the problem.
Some dude: “Batman didn’t do anything scary or fear stricken to intimidate the penguin” Batman drives right next to the penguin while his window is being shot at, drives through an explosion and causes the penguin to crash his car, beats up a goon and breaks said goon’s arm in the fight, “pulls” his punch on Jim Gordon in order to escape from the police. I can go on and on
Batman's had so many distinct iterations in the comics, the "it's not accurate" criticisms have become increasingly hollow. It's not even universal to every Batman continuity that he traveled the world, learning countless forms of martial arts, before becoming Batman. Just that he trained. In The Batman, it's clear that Alfred taught Bruce to fight, utilizing his background as an agent for British intelligence. Was there more to his training? Probably. Does it matter? Not really. This idea that Batman has to be this perfect ideal, just means this guy hates character arcs. Virtually everything he complains about is *literally the point of the movie.*
2:16 That's like the most boring part of batman's backstory it also doesn't fit the vibe they're going with for him in The batman like think about how goofy a training montage would have been
in batman year one, there is a panel where he questions if his years training were enough and if he’s even ready yet… so how is that not comic accurate
Batman is white, Alfred is white, Riddler is white, Joker is white, Penguin is white, Falcone is white. But Jim Gordon (arguably his best live action interpretation) is black. And Catwoman (arguably the best live action interpretation) is black. We got 8 characters in the movie and 2 arent white and apparently its a problem

I can’t take serious any complaints about “comic-accurate” Batman movie depictions. The character has been around for like 85 years. There’s no set-in-stone version of Batman in the comics, and there hasn’t been for a very long time at this point. You get his core elements: Bruce Wayne’s billionaire parents are murdered in front of him when he’s a kid, he decides to dress in a bat-themed costume with a cape and pointy-eared cowl, and he fights injustice (usually crime). He’s a detective. He uses gadgets. Does Batman kill? Use a gun? Mostly no, but he originally did. What color is his costume? Black, gray, charcoal, blue, purple, fuckin rainbow? It’s been all of those. Does he even have a butler? Not originally. If you get upset about comic-accuracy in Batman movies, you have plenty to love about all of them, must absolutely fuckin hate Batman Returns, and must fucking adore the 60’s series. Also, he’s right about one thing. Affleck was the best Batman. Pattinson is right behind. Live-action I mean. Obviously Kevin Conroy is the best. That may seem subjective, but if you say he’s not, we’ll fight, and God will decide the truth of it.
He doesn't cause fear in the club? I'm sorry but if I'm chilling in the club and a 6ft tall man dressed in a Batsuit just starts beating the shit out of security on his way to the vip section, my ass is scared. What is this guy on about? At one point I was waiting for him to be like , " Pattinson didn't even say he was batman like Michael Keaton would have. 2 out of 10 man."
The fear point tho, like what are criminals actually scared of? Having the snot beaten out of them by this olympian level fighter that they cant see coming and cant stop.
They’re scared of the Batman coming for them. A lot, plenty, of early Batmen are much more brutal. Hell, it’s not until Grayson in many, many, many continuities even mainline ones where Batman starts to chill.
one thing that pisses me off about some superhero fans is that they think comics are some holy water of stories that are flawless. just because something's comic accurate, doesn't mean it's good, or just because it isn't doesn't mean it's bad. In fact, I think it's better to have different and unique stories from each other than repeat the exact same thing over and over. With this guy specifically, I don't get why he wants batman to be perfect from the start of the movie, isn't great character development a crucial part of a great story? amazing video as always and I hope you do a response to madvocate's shang chi video, seems like an interesting one. I like madvocate and his videos so I'm always curious what others have to say about him/his criticisms
Probably not so different from any other Batman’s reasoning for the bat being chosen. It’s something that always has to be explained because we can make the assumption.
I was laughing from the little black rant early on. I'm one of those people who does find obviously shoe-horned in, neo-liberalistic 'diversity' to be very obnoxious, most of the time. But Catwoman? Somebody from an impoverished neighbourhood forced into crime to get by? Surely even to someone who's racist - for the stereotype - it makes sense she'd be black, right? Some criticisms make sense. Like when Jodi Whitaker's Doctor ruined her just being a female Doctor by saying she got 'upgraded'. Some criticisms, like his, do just seem to translate as 'get these black people off my screen'
FYI: That guy who criticized the movie, seems like he has never seen The Lego Batman Movie (2017), as the Catwoman and Commissioner Gordon also have the same colour as in this movie
28:38 I just spat out my drink laughing😭😭out of every Batman he could’ve picked he picked the one that doesn’t even have his own movie, no meaningful character ark and literally carries a glock💀
Batman Origins is so criminally underrated - yes, the game lacked a lot of the polish of the RockSteady games, but it's got such a good story and the ideas for a lot of the gameplay were pretty cool, even if they weren't executed well enough.
@@oliverthedum2129 EXACTLY it was a great casting. I don't think her race is relevant to her character at any point. Catwoman has been depicted black in many comics in past movies, shows, and even comics.
i'm reminded of "the batman" cartoon from the early 00s. it starts with a very young batman who is two years into being batman, whom the city doesn't trust and the cops actively hunt. (sounds familiar) in only the second ep, the mob calls in bane. and when they fought, batman get utterly wrecked. i mean, he nearly dies and almost stops being batman but decides to come back after bane starts rampaging through the city. but in this guy's eyes, that batman would be terrible because he was young and inexperienced. it's called "a character arc".
Hey Colin, I am a big fan of your videos. You reference multiple sources and offer different perspectives which many people need to take notes from. And you take the time to properly lay out your points. If possible, could you please start citing where you get your references from? Or mention which comics or issue number? I'd love to check them out as they seem interesting. I recognize it may be challenging as you include MANY references in your videos but just a thought!
This isn’t a trash Batman movie. Sure it isn’t perfect but I like it. The batman suit is amazing! The only bad thing about this movie is batman doesn’t know how to glide.
The carpentry tool also is a perfect example of the “eureka” and foreshadowing, where until we have all the information later in the movie, that first clue doesn’t truly make sense to us yet. First viewing, it’s just a murder weapon, second viewing, it’s a huge key because we already know all the clues that lead this to be the big “eureka” moment. This is basic stuff and he totally disregards it
Hot take: (I heard someone else point this out and I agreed) Val Kilmer is the worst Batman because George Clooney is good in the scenes with Alfred. (Also Batman & Robin is a guilty pleasure of mine)
When I first saw The Batman, I honestly didn't like it very much. I thought the cinematography and acting were great, but I just had a hard time following the politics and the themes of the story. It wasn't until after I watched it a few more times and watched other people's videos on it that I started liking it a lot more. Because I know I don't have an easy time deconstructing a movie's plot or message, it helps to have someone explain it to me. I can admit that I am (at least somewhat) media illiterate. And that is perfectly fine. But don't hate on a movie and say "iT dIdN't MaKe SeNcE! iT wAs A bAd FiLm!" Just because you didn't pay attention to it or just didn't understand it. P.S. I thought of a fun way to tease a future batfam. I added a scene to the movie where Jim Gorden is upset because he had to pick up his daughter, Barbara (about 13 years old), from school because she got suspended for fighting. He asks her why she got into another fight, and she tells him that the kids she beat up were picking on this one girl in a wheelchair, and she brags about taking on 4 at once and that they all walked away worse than she did (even though she got her ass beaten). He gives her the "I'm disappointed in you" speech and then smirks and winks at her, showing her that he's proud of her and she smirks back at him, showing him she understands. Maybe she's even wearing a homemade purple and yellow batman shirt. But, maybe that's overkill.
Im like 10 minutes in and Im baffled as to why you havent noted that a lot of these “problems” are literally the point of the movie, he learns from them here
odd take here but follow me for a second: One thing Ive come to realize as a huge fan of an anime (yes anime) called Re:Zero, is that a lot of people dont like when a character has flaws anymore. Or flaws that to them, come off as nuanced until its literally spelled out for them loudly inside the media they are consuming. The reason most of us hail this as one of, if not the best, Batman live action movie is because it is full of nuance. Its not a "live laugh love" sign at Target. Its art. Its not fast food. it's a culinary meal that you have to sit down, enjoy, engage with the flavors and sides as a whole to see understand why it all works together so well on your plate. This Batman has left all the clues that tell us that the next time we see him on screen, he'll be closer to "all i need is prep time" version of himself. All the clues tell us that he'll be putting far more effort into living a double life rather than seeing himself as only the bat. But at no point in the movie does he specifically say, "i have to take my position as Bruce Wayne as serious as i do being batman. i also have to up my game as a detective, a combatant, and a stealthy spy. i should also be nicer to Alfred." Which is why i brought up Re:Zero. because in community surrounding that anime hated the main character, Subaru, for weeks until there was an episode where he finding cracks and says out loud exactly why he acts the way he does. he held nothing back in a full 3 minute monolog. When that moment happened, suddenly the community haters started to change their attitudes on Subaru completely even though all the clues about Subaru's mentional state have been their since episode one. A lot of people struggle with nuance. And that's why people struggle with liking The Batman. Because Matt Reeves wants a grounded world focused on understanding character motivations and emotions through nuance.
As someone who watch Batman 2020 first, (I watch the Nolan's when I was a child, I rematch them and realize that I have inded watch them before 😅) I connected more with Robert's batman than with previous ones cause he seem actually affected without being on your face, his settle expressions and in general the arc the make was good.
I dont think he educated himself on the background of "This" version of bruce, this version is pretty much i think trained by alfred, and spent his teenage years as well too street racing
One of my favorite aspects of this movie was seeing the riddler tear down Bruce and his family. It reminded me of how Jack Napier (Joker) did the same thing in white knight. Very different stories but awesome core ideas
I find it funny how he is saying that Batman has to be perfect but the whole point the character was created was to show that anyone can be a hero. That a human being with no powers could be a superhero. And what makes us human, our flaws and imperfections
“This movie is bad because Batman loses.” Isn’t the Dark Knight, which is widely considered the best Batman movie of all time, a movie where Bruce out and out loses. Regarding you point about Batfleck. Yeah. At least by the end of Batman returns we see Bruce has come to realize that that kind vengeance won’t make him feel better and thus he tries to stop Selina from killing Max and in the next movie stop Dick from killing Two-Face. Batflek doesn’t even get that. He just decides to stop trying to kill “Superman”, keeps killing for the rest of the movie and then randomly decides not to brand “Lex” despite the fact that “Lex” was the one paying people to kill the Bat branded people anyway.
Realistically even if he had trained ,training and actually being in action is completely different the way the movie depicts is an accurate depiction of how a real life Batman wud be until he gets comfortable
I think it's clear to me that comic fans will never change. We have had parodies of men like this who make silly complaints about an adaptation since the 50s, the fans who are usually close minded, bigoted and have some ego because they like a character. It's ridiculous to think but if you have ever looked at old message forums back in the 90s or 2000s, people were at an uproar over every new super hero cartoon if they didn't grow up with it. Ever single one, The Batman 2004 was criticized because Bruce Wayne's face design, the fact joker had no shoes was literally called for a boycott for the show. Teen Titans for covering up Starfire, I've seen this with every single adaptation I think without fail. The only thing holding back comic books from being a respected medium isn't the comics but the socially inept people who speaks out loudly and wrong for the silliest reasons
Also with the young Batman is incompetent isn't comic book accurat, the guy seemed not to have read Batman Earth 1. Bats was told by Gordon to be carefull were he walks, because he was stepping on evidence.
my take is that robert pattinsons batman is the most realistic more accurate batman. batman was never meant to be some android, but the other movies have ruined that idea and just assume it’s an action movie and not a tragedy. let’s not forget in comics and other adaptations how batman has broken down and cried randomly at the loss of his parents, especially when reminded and told about his fathers dealings. the idea of a kid who was isolated due to wealth class and mental illnesses brought on by seeing his parents die in front of him and having survivors guilt. then to discover how awful his father was and that his family is a LARGE reason as to why gotham is so bad. he is going to have a savior complex and be depressed/anti social. Batman was DESIGNED to dwell in internal chaos and anger, that is why he swore to never kill in the first place if people just forget?? he doesn’t want to be as bad as the others because he feels i’d lose his humanity, that comes from self fear of him letting go due to his emotions. robert pattinsons batman, a batman who obviously is mentally disturbed with anxiety and trauma and depression, who has survivors guilt and a savior complex hoping to save everyone he can. is the most accurate to not only real life expectation, but original lore
battinson is a good year two batman. he doesn't have the "Brucie Wayne" persona yet, he's depressed, he's not taking care of himself, he's kinda a weirdo (which makes sense, dude dresses like a bat and calls himself "vengence" lol), i like it. he doesn't have selena at the beginning, he doesn't have his kids, he doesn't have the JL, he doesn't even has his dog. it's literally just him and alfred in the dark penthouse because he can't stand to be at home yet. batman is cool and badass, but bruce wayne is a very traumatized individual with deep rooted issues. dude is gonna have really bad mental health.
@@RegulatorBlu Well first of all, I don't like the dark Knight Batman. I liked the Joker from it, but that's pretty much the only character I liked the changes to. He seemed more like an actual person that you could see existing. This new Batman just seems like a cosplay. Not a guy that grew up against the world and wanting to make a change in his town. Just a guy that didn't know what he was doing, but he wanted to dress like a bat.
@@RegulatorBlu If I was Bruce Wayne, I would have realized I needed a ton of training at least a month in. But this new Batman had 2 years of being Batman but still seemed like some basic dude.
In the comics when batman and catwoman almost get married they keep having a teasing argument about how they met. One says it was on a boat another says it was on the street. Catwoman tries her very best to get batman to agree with her but he never does. And eventually batman says why he disagrees. He doesn't agree with her because yes they ran into eachother with a cowl and catsuit on but batman had not yet fully become the bat in mind and form. So therefore next time they met and he had actually "become the bat" THATS when they actually met. So says batman

It's literally the fact that they started two years into Batman doing his thing, but poorly. If they actually had the story start off when he first began than a lot of the arguments wouldn't have been made.
People don’t know how to actually tell a good story and are impatient
“He doesn’t have the dedication” is so stupid because Bruce is literally so dedicated to being Batman in this movie that he isn’t being Bruce Wayne. He IS the cowl at this point and he learns to grow out of that by the end.
That's literally every Batman ever though
@ Yeah it’s almost like that makes this Batman valid. Also other Batmen have at least used their philanthropy to an extent and had a playboy persona, but this Bruce is so dedicated to the cowl he doesn’t even have time for that. This version is so in deep to his mission that it’s consuming him. We might’ve seen that a few times in comics, but never in film.
@@steelbear2063 it's a less viewed angle on the character, and not viewed in live action adaptations to this point
Batman isn't allowed to be a real character because fanboys see him as an idealized version of themselves.

Bale’s Batman spent way too much time getting overshadowed by the villains, has a terrible fighting skills and didn’t do any detective work. And that wasn’t even his fault. It’s Nolan’s fault for not giving him a proper characterization.

Exactly! This was my favorite live action Batman, I was very critical of the movie when I heard Pattinson was Batman. But I ended up loving it and he quickly became my favorite Batman, the dude killed it and the writing was great, as well as the cinematography, casting and music.
Exactly, people seem to forget that Batman is supposed to be a detective, and not JUST a superhero.

Batman's had so many distinct iterations in the comics, the "it's not accurate" criticisms have become increasingly hollow. 4. Youre mad at two characters race in a 80% white played film, one of which has been portrayed as a poc as early as the 60's, and the other was the best take on the character ever on the big screen.
And hell usually the Robins start beating the snot out of bad guys @@AvidCS

I honestly can't believe that he actually said that Ben Affleck is better when he should consider him to be worse
0:29 this guy is the worst
Agreed. I don’t usually care about race swapping as long as the actor plays the character right. And the actors in The Batman did just that.
People like you are annoying, judgmental
one thing that pisses me off about some superhero fans is that they think comics are some holy water of stories that are flawless. just because something's comic accurate, doesn't mean it's good, or just because it isn't doesn't mean it's bad.
Watching Batman Arkham combat is the superior subway surfers
I like your take on his character arc. It’s very subtle, how when he saves that guy at beginning begging to not hurt him vs the end. Well spotted.
My only problem with the entire film is they never address why Bruce chose a bat costume and theme and why/when he officially adopted the Batman title
Probably not so different from any other Batman’s reasoning for the bat being chosen. It’s something that always has to be explained because we can make the assumption.
@ I understand, I mean the film doesn’t put any work into it at all which is bizarre.

And the original year one comic or animated movie.
@@kmmahmud7177 Gordon is not black in year one lmao. Selina is kinda racially ambiguous though
@@CarlM I didn't say he was also isn't Selina Kyle mixed race in the movie also🤔
Yeh, because no one cares if like 5 adaptations out of 100 are somewhat different.
28:38 I just spat out my drink laughing😭😭out of every Batman he could’ve picked he picked the one that doesn’t even have his own movie, no meaningful character ark and literally carries a glock💀
I’m surprised he didn’t ask the question of why did riddler flood the city?
Batman Origins is so criminally underrated - yes, the game lacked a lot of the polish of the RockSteady games, but it's got such a good story and the ideas for a lot of the gameplay were pretty cool, even if they weren't executed well enough.
0:39 i think bro is just racist
zoe was gorgeous as catwoman ngl
@@BatmanFanNumberOne fr she is the only person who embodys catwomans look's and personality after the one in the og movie.😊
I really hate how so many people hate catwoman’s casting in this movie. Easily the best live action adaptation of her ever and it’s not even close
@@oliverthedum2129 EXACTLY it was a great casting. I don't think her race is relevant to her character at any point. Catwoman has been depicted black in many comics in past movies, shows, and even comics.
@@kmmahmud7177 ❤
They race swapped Catwoman 💀
i'm reminded of "the batman" cartoon from the early 00s. it starts with a very young batman who is two years into being batman, whom the city doesn't trust and the cops actively hunt. (sounds familiar)
in only the second ep, the mob calls in bane. and when they fought, batman get utterly wrecked. i mean, he nearly dies and almost stops being batman but decides to come back after bane starts rampaging through the city.
but in this guy's eyes, that batman would be terrible because he was young and inexperienced. it's called "a character arc".
The only bad thing about this movie is batman doesn’t know how to glide.
the theatrical point is bad also because the twins say that his batsuit is gonna get blood on it and Batman replies “mine or yours” that is hard
George Clooney’s is worse.
IMO Cedric/Edward Batman is decent.
Somedays you just can't get rid of a bomb
The carpentry tool also is a perfect example of the “eureka” and foreshadowing, where until we have all the information later in the movie, that first clue doesn’t truly make sense to us yet. First viewing, it’s just a murder weapon, second viewing, it’s a huge key because we already know all the clues that lead this to be the big “eureka” moment. This is basic stuff and he totally disregards it
"I-I want my Batman to be cool and strong and experienced smart!!"
"Character flaws? Who needs that?! We need perfection!"
Whoever said that The Batman is the worst one never saw Batman and Robin, that was dogshit.
Hot take: (I heard someone else point this out and I agreed) Val Kilmer is the worst Batman because George Clooney is good in the scenes with Alfred. (Also Batman & Robin is a guilty pleasure of mine)
@@mrbeastfan8079 no the worst one is clearly the one in the god awful live action Titans.
Im like 10 minutes in and Im baffled as to why you havent noted that a lot of these “problems” are literally the point of the movie, he learns from them here
Thank you. I was thinking the same thing.
2:47-3:10 Uh, he kind of does say that.
I have this playing on the side but Dropped everything when i heard that guy saying ben Affleck did it better LORD
I didnt hate Affleck’s Batman tbh
0:05 Apparently pattinson’s batman is worse than clooney’s🤣
are they forgetting this is a detective story? lol
odd take here but follow me for a second:
One thing Ive come to realize as a huge fan of an anime (yes anime) called Re:Zero, is that a lot of people dont like when a character has flaws anymore.
But at no point in the movie does he specifically say, "i have to take my position as Bruce Wayne as serious as i do being batman. i also have to up my game as a detective, a combatant, and a stealthy spy. i should also be nicer to Alfred."
Which is why i brought up Re:Zero. because in community surrounding that anime hated the main character, Subaru, for weeks until there was an episode where he finding cracks and says out loud exactly why he acts the way he does. he held nothing back in a full 3 minute monolog.
If Iron man had come out this year, people would so absolutely livid that Nick Fury was played by Sam Jackson
It's almost like he didn't watch it 😔
I dont think he educated himself on the background of "This" version of bruce, this version is pretty much i think trained by alfred, and spent his teenage years as well too street racing
One of my favorite aspects of this movie was seeing the riddler tear down Bruce and his family. It reminded me of how Jack Napier (Joker) did the same thing in white knight. Very different stories but awesome core ideas
Did they forget about Clooney?
I find it funny how he is saying that Batman has to be perfect but the whole point the character was created was to show that anyone can be a hero. That a human being with no powers could be a superhero. And what makes us human, our flaws and imperfections
Batfleck using a gun has traumatised me and I think that people dont talk about this enough
I get why people are mad about Jim Gordon and Catwoman being black instead of white. But it doesn't disprove the fact that it's a great movie.
Great video colin, you really prove your points really well, and really do your research, W youtuber.
One of the ONLY thinks I didn’t like was the fact that EVERYONE WAS WHISPERING! I couldn’t hear shit even in the theater
This dude had the worst take ever, jeez, dont ever let that dude review anything ever
my take is that robert pattinsons batman is the most realistic more accurate batman. batman was never meant to be some android, but the other movies have ruined that idea and just assume it’s an action movie and not a tragedy. let’s not forget in comics and other adaptations how batman has broken down and cried randomly at the loss of his parents, especially when reminded and told about his fathers dealings.
the idea of a kid who was isolated due to wealth class and mental illnesses brought on by seeing his parents die in front of him and having survivors guilt. then to discover how awful his father was and that his family is a LARGE reason as to why gotham is so bad. he is going to have a savior complex and be depressed/anti social.
Whats sad is that this movie is more controversial among Batman fans than the dark knight trilogy
battinson is a good year two batman. he doesn't have the "Brucie Wayne" persona yet, he's depressed, he's not taking care of himself, he's kinda a weirdo (which makes sense, dude dresses like a bat and calls himself "vengence" lol), i like it.
he doesn't have selena at the beginning, he doesn't have his kids, he doesn't have the JL, he doesn't even has his dog. it's literally just him and alfred in the dark penthouse because he can't stand to be at home yet.
batman is cool and badass, but bruce wayne is a very traumatized individual with deep rooted issues. dude is gonna have really bad mental health.
Folks who hardcore bash on Matt Reeves The Batman are just gatekeeping bc they think Chris Nolan’s the Dark Knight trilogy is peak, it’s not.
That's not why I dislike it at all...
@ Then please good buddy voice your opinions.

Well first of all, I don't like the dark Knight Batman.
@@RegulatorBlu
If I was Bruce Wayne, I would have realized I needed a ton of training at least a month in.
So says batman
those quotation marks saved me from self destructing
