I appreciate this technique. In my school we do it with a punch which I think in most cases would disable the hand that punches if one in the time of stress the punch lands to the forehead which would fracture or break your hand, and one couldn't take the weapon with a disabled hand.
I wish Krav schools would share these relevant techniques and pick the most updated methods in the practice of Krav Maga.

I really like the concepts that you teach here, especially the emphasis on maintaining control of the weapon, considering natural reflexes of the attacker, and focusing on the speed of the movement. I would like to note that we teach the act of raising the hands as being more about making the gunman feel like you are compliant in an attempt to put them at ease mentally. The goal is to make them believe that you are a helpless victim and that you're scared--it's not really about being closer and faster, but it then makes your explosive movement that much more unexpected. That's primarily why we teach it, anyhow. Again, very good video--I appreciate your style of teaching and reasoning behind nearly everything that you share. Best regards.

Thanks very much Michael. Can you show a case where the attacker holds the gun with both hands? Or close to his body like you hold when you disarmed him. Thanks!

When I teach, I prefer not to teach striking during a front gun disarm. I have never been convinced in its efficacy. In that, if I strike you, your body will react. Where the head goes the body follows so if I strike you about the head, your head will go back, bringing your body with it. As your body goes back, you are likely to fall and/or trip and fall. When you do this, you bring the gun, and me holding on to the gun to the ground. Not ideal in my mind.
