- The MBTA is slowly accepting new deliveries of the new CRRC 1400-series Orange Line cars. In this video we have both of the old and new Orange Line cars serving station stops at North Station, Wellington and Malden Center. Note how there is a special station announcement announcing when the next approaching train is one of the new ones.
The new cars are being built at a CRRC manufacturing plant in Springfield, MA. This is the same company that is building CTA's new 7000 series 'L' cars in the Hegewisch neighborhood of Chicago's far south side.
Most recently the MBTA's new CRRC Red Line cars came back to service after being held aside for inspections after the CRRC Orange Line derailment near Wellington yard back in Spring of 2021. As a result the tracks in this area have been rehabbed as well.
As of May 19th, 2022, all CRRC 1400-series cars were taken out of service for the 5th time due to an issue with the braking system on one of the trains.

The air conditioning is pretty nice on the 1400's, also doesn't smell at all. Downside is some of the older cars from 2017-2018 floors are starting to rust from the salt in the winter
Nice

This is what happens when you buy cheap Chinese junk!!
this is also what happens that those trains were built by newly hired inexperienced American workers at Springfield MA
MBTA didn't want the modern models that were offered by CRRC. They wanted to stick with the 19th century design. Same thing happened in Chicago. Don't blame the manufacturer, blame those transit agencies!
@@joechung9388 It doesn't matter, still junk equipment!!
@@joechung9388 except Chicago has been designing their trains properly for so many decades. History is currently repeating itself with the 7000s and the 1400s as it did with the 2400s and MBTA's Boeing LRVs back in the 70s.
