Chess is all about making accurate move as possible in any stage of the game. Making inaccurate moves in the opening is not as devastating as making inaccurate moves as in the middle game or worse like the end game. making inaccurate move in end game is devastating. Given the nature of chess, Players can make mistakes at any stage of the game but we tend to focus more on the mistakes that are made in the end game. Because those mistakes cause definitive losses or draws. Hence it creates the illusion that the top players in history are all good in endgame. Because Most of the memorable games are the ones like that
I almost agree until he lost opening and middle game tactics, but able to solved end game puzzles that stumped other super GM’s almost instantly. He’s so good at the end game that only he has foresight of the advantage he would have in middle game.
