    You're a legend Pat! ❤️
I wish my Nan was still alive in times like these!
30 year old dude and my girlfriend didn't remember how to sew haha.
It's amazing the wisdom/guidance you can find on RUclips! 👍
My university book bag strap broke (mass produced, schools own branded ones).
I went to the textile shop and decided on some elastic strap, coloured to match and patterned, probably 1&1/2" wide (to make mine easy to identify 😊).
Used your guide to learn the very basics.
I cut a hole and had the strap folded and passed through it.
Stitched around and above the hole, as well as a thick line below where the zipper line starts.
Unfolded the strap below and did a huge square with criss-cross in same bright orange thread on the black canvas (top of bag is also orange).
Looks great, can instantly tell mine, is strong, and most importantly is super comfortable on the shoulders 😎

I'm here because i just a huge argument with my mom. i asked her to fix my jeans and she being the feminazi she is would literally not do it without bowing down to the female gender as a whole. in the name of real equality i would not, and so i naturally left in a huff dropping such insights as "this is why feminsim is a joke!" and now im sitting in my room embarking on a quest for gender equal knowledge.

Thank you so much for this easy to follow tutorial! :) I used your method to repair my leather bag (the strap on one side completely tore off). It took about two hours of my time and left me with sore/cramped fingers however I was able to repair my purse! So glad that I learned something new without spending any money! :D
Also to anyone potentially repairing their leather purse like me, make sure you pull hard to make sure the stitch is tight (otherwise it will be too loose and will break again) and use a small pair of pliers to pull the needle through, it will save your fingers a lot of agony. You will have to go back and forth along the line where the strap should be sewn into (it took me about four passes).

This is such a good video and it shows tricks they did not teach in Home Ec...at least not in my High School. Thank you so much for this. You just helped me save my favorite coat! Our puppy got a hold of it and tore it up. It broke my heart but I can't be mad at her...and with your helpful video, I don't have to. Thanks again
