Glad you love it mate , it's a stunning looking thing can't tell you how much I want one , there built on my door step so regularly get to see them on transporters going to lucky owners, great review mate .
Michael Coombes he’s decent no doubt. But you should really check out a range of the UK automotive journalists. Chris Harris, Jethro Bovingdon, Dan Prosser, Henry Catchpole. They all have deep knowledge of a huge range of cars and have significant talent when it comes to driving a car on the limit.
Always enjoy your reviews, We have the 2018 Velar p380 Rdynamic with about every bell and whistle you could imagine. Would you suggest or recommend we consider the SV over the P380 especially if the starting price point is slightly lower than when we bought ours?
I had a LR RR Sport SVR and the infotainment system finally failed so much they bought it back from me. They stood behind their product, so I'll give them that, but end of the day I wouldn't buy a LR product again until I saw major changes in their quality. Not when you can get something from Mercedes or Porsche that is much more reliable and comparatively fun to drive.
2020 GLC63s. Thats the one to go for. Its revisions over the 2019 are significant. 2019 owners should be pissed at mercedes for doing the refresh so early (1 year in).
And I thought nothing will come close to Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-hybrid Sport Turismo (7 words) but Land Rover Range Rover Velar SV Autobiography Dynamic Edition (9 words) takes it
Great review Matt, the new Macan Turbo is a fantastic fast small form factor SUV but buyers should seriously consider the 2020 AMG GLC 63s, especially the Coupe which looks fantastic In the right colour. Superior build quality, the best infotainment system, proven hand built V8 Bi turbo engine and a glorious exhaust note. Handling is almost as good as the Macan and better rear leg room. Definitely a better ownership proposition than the Velar.
Mr Bond007 GLC is a POS. That 4 ltr is a shit engine. Nothing but issues like blown turbos to constantly misfiring. The rest of the vehicle it shares with standard GLC’s is sub par as well. Constant service campaigns & issues. I should know as I have to fix these everyday.
Nice review. I frequently listen to the smoking tire podcast, I really enjoy it. I would love to hear more engineers on the podcast if that is possible. I think it is really interesting to get the information straight from the people who design the car, as well as the people like you who review them. Not sure if companies want their engineers on free-form podcast discussing products but either way.
I was recently reminded of a 90s term for SUVs: "Selfish Useless Vehicles". More applicable today than ever (not knocking the review, good work as always Matt...I'm just so sick of late, late capitalism)
I think when you are comparing this to other cars you should talk about the interior and the technology and stuff like that and not just the driving experience.
I like how Matt Farah is a die-hard car enthusiast, but doesn't bitch about how SUVs are taking over the world and high performance SUVs are distasteful and have no purpose to exist. He simply acknowledges that hi-po SUVs can be good to drive, just like any other car. SUVs are what people want these days and manufacturers will simply die if they don't keep up with consumer demand. Stop complaining about SUVs people, just embrace them
Unfortunately getting a lawyer isn’t fighting a ticket, it’s paying $400 to a lawyer to do absolutely nothing except make sure the courts know you put that money into the local economy, and then knocking your ticket down to a non moving violation so they still get their money and are basically paying for no points on your license.
I just can't get past the, even by European/British standards, the most god awful maintenance/repair history of just about anything this side of a Bolton Paul Defiant (look that one up English fans!)
Jaguar's are known for the V8s and Inline 6s in my opinion. Not having a V8, will be a shame! This 5.0 is an ooooold engine though! Can trace it's roots back into the 90s, with the 4.0 V8 in the X100 XK, then the 4.2. Mind you, Subaru still make a car with an engine from the 80s...
@@upgradeNEVER I agree the v6 had character but when you drive the new 4cyl it just has a lot more torque 1500-4500 rpm, and around town that's great but it doesn't die if you keep reving it's really a great engine.
I'm currently on the market for an used performance suv, and my 2 choices are exactly those, 2019-2020 stelvio QV and 2020 velar sv. Not sure which one I'll buy, I appreciate the low weight and dynamics of the stelvio QV (but I'd buy one only with carbon ceramic brakes and no sunroof) and the features (meridian signature 1600w, massaging seats) and offroad credential of the velar sv. The perfect suv for me will be a mix of these 2.
Range Rover is a line of cars under Land Rover, like Discovery or Defender, not a separate brand. They all have a Land Rover badge. It’s a little clumsy since they launched multiple variants of Range Rover but effectively RR is just their more luxurious road biased cars.
um, lawyers charge per 30mins, usually a hundred or so bucks per half hour, I've been caught going a casual 50 over the limit and put it this way I'd rather pay the fine and the 3% insurance hike
Lawyers charge in 0.1 increments on work performed, and usually an hour for the initial consult. For tickets, it's often a flat fee plus costs. So one would pay around $500 or whatever the fee is, and then pay the costs for the ticket/filing. If the money for the ticket is returned, the client would get that money. Usually, that's how it works.
aye if your wheels are smart and the buttons on the steering work as you liek to channel surf brilliant. its lag in voice activation thats a frustrating QA thing. More to a status lifestyle price point. You see Sir Jackie Stewart in the XJ its your dignified JAg of old with new style. A tradition. Nice leathers and carpet at half the price of the Aston SUV. Meridian audio..But you want that in car Nav to be what you get from a 85 dollar phone at least. Thanks for saving that squirrle
Burble tunes are the worst thing to have happened to car culture in recent history. People who like that shit have zero mechanical aptitude. It’s the new rice.
That name is so long you missed “Velar” at 1:56 haha. 9 words 🤯
Matt “no squirrels were harmed in the making of this one take” Farrah
The marketing guy who comes with that name " Range Rover Velar SV Autobiography Dynamic Edition" should fired.
Actually, it's the Land Rover Range Rover Velar SV Autobiography Dynamic Edition. Even more offensive
Probably a friend of the "Mercedes-Amg GT 63 S 4MATIC+ 4-Door Coupe" guy
@@ZiinokZzHD They do seem to be visiting same pubs...
RRVSVADE
They should cut back on the xlax labeling and increase there quality reliability
I 100 % agree every car has to pop & crackle now does my head in
James had the McLaren 12c matt
no he had 911
That supercharger whine 😍👌🏻
I'm in love with this... There is no other Suv I could ever want.
Girl, sure you have good taste for cars
Mr. Farah, your taste in watches is impeccable
the range is moving really quickly
To the dump
I'm so happy that squirrel is fine
The car looks sleek and modern with a old school SC V8 already cooler than the competition, maybe these wheels in silver would look better !
Glad you love it mate , it's a stunning looking thing can't tell you how much I want one , there built on my door step so regularly get to see them on transporters going to lucky owners, great review mate .
Great car with excellent aerodynamics and specs. Great sounds. Thanks for the upload.
Every time I see this car, I automatically think of the crimson chin.
That squirrel had a near death experience.
Matt Farrah... best car reviewer hands down folks
Him and Savage Geese are my favs

Waiting for the RSQ8 review...
Awesome one take! That’s a beautiful AP as well, such a sick time piece
Saw the Royal Oak and was pleasantly surprised.
Thanks!
Yes it is for sure a big upgrade from the Rolex. You have chosen...wisely.

my man flexing the AP 😏
man you have to bring back these chops :'D

No thanks. The sound in that thing is super muted with the facelift
S G only the european ones. The particulate filter doesn’t travel to N America.
The GLC model is a reliability nightmare. I work on them for a living & it’s the worst model Mercedes has. The 63 version is sweet but so many issues.
Eskohl that’s the case with all luxury performance cars. Wether it be Merc, BMW, Range Rover, Jag.....
There is also Alfa Romeo Stelvio QV in this segment. They have just released facelifted version. "Ferrari" engine :)
Yeah but this is more of a chill vehicle
I’ll trade into this for my SVR if I can get a custom tune to restore the burbles and pops 😜
It’s also $50 cheaper MSRP as spec’d 😁
And I thought nothing will come close to Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-hybrid Sport Turismo (7 words) but Land Rover Range Rover Velar SV Autobiography Dynamic Edition (9 words) takes it
the ap looks great on you!!!
Love the view of the canyons!

flexin that AP Royal Oak,
All I desire with a Velar is to rent one for about two weeks and drive around Oregon in rainy days tbh
The G01 BMW X3 is up in the mix now.

Would "Range Rover Velar SVA" not have worked just fine?
That's what people will call it yes, but unfortunately LR don't do simple
higurro ooo that's good. We get they're Range Rover sub models, they should drop that.
Land Rover Velar SVA
It's gorgeous inside and out, I'm sure it drives great, but it cost $100,000 and it's going to break.
Read Zechariah Move to Canada, I can buy this for $75k USD ($105k CAD) :p
I can’t even imagine owning this thing without warranty. Safe to say most people will probably lease it

What road is this?
Land rover range rover velar Sv Autobiography Dynamic Edition:) Thank god I never dropped out of kindergarten
Do you prefer it over the Range Rover Sport Autobiography?
Glc 63 AMG
It's either a land rover or a range rover, not both. Same company, but two different types of car.
Range Rover is a line of cars under Land Rover, like Discovery or Defender, not a separate brand. They all have a Land Rover badge. It’s a little clumsy since they launched multiple variants of Range Rover but effectively RR is just their more luxurious road biased cars.
fettlemaster a real range rover is a sport, hse or velar. Evoque/discovery are not range rovers
Colour?
James had a mclaren 12c
lol come to the uk and try and fight a speeding ticket haha no fcking chance

The rsq5 is the macan turbo!
all VaG longitudinal engined 4x4s are based on the touareg chassis
In 🇬🇧 it’s known as the RangeRover Vulva 🤦🏻♂️
(SV stands for Special Vehicles) so you could essentially make the name even longer 🙄🤣
Unfortunately the infotainment system and JLR's reliability, or lack there of, would keep me from getting this over a Macan Turbo.

Is the coyote V8 a sourced from Ford?
It’s not a coyote. It’s a different engine manufactured by Ford. Basically the same engine as the XJ8, XK8, and the old V8 vantage.
I’ll take the SV VELAR over the
VW Macon turbo all day !
Fast-ish SUV which can actually do some off-road things? No.
Superior SUV
