    IMHO fields gets a pass. Everyone else including GP failed him. But the bigger one is on the Def they have literally no excuse for dropping this one.

    The Colts certainly controlled the trenches on both sides. Steelers didn’t get much pressure on the QB, and Fields often faced pressure.

      A man that understands football. The trenches is where the game is won. Sometimes that 3-4 defense is not able to reak havoc because they were doubling cam and tj and making other linemen make plays

    I know it’s one play and there were many inexcusable mistakes from a lot of players but the Pickens fumble really killed me more than anything, I just don’t know how you display that kind of lack of ball security as a WR. I love watching Pickens cause his body control and ability to make insane catches feels unmatched but it feels like he still has some maturing to do in year three. Also starting to really understand why they didn’t pick up the fifth year option from Naj, he really didn’t contribute positively at all and we can’t have that from our RB1 if we want to be a run first team.
    A lot to vent about, that was a frustrating frustrating game. I was ready to give up after the first half (and hats off to the Colts, they were 100% ready to play like you said) and then clawing back into it while continually shooting ourselves in the foot to make sure we couldn’t complete the comeback was maddening. But emotions from the game aside, still feeling really solid and optimistic about this team after a month. My biggest fear was the QB position, I didn’t have much faith Fields could be a guy but he has really impressed me and given me a lot of optimism for this offense. If I was told a month ago we’d be 3-1 after 4 weeks I’d be pretty content, especially with all the OL injuries and struggles. It’s even sweeter considering the rest of the division has stumbled out of the gate.
    Can’t wait for the Dallas game on Sunday night, hope the defense can get back on the horse in a big way.

    • @Steelers_DB
      @Steelers_DB  2 дня назад +1

      For sure. Pickens is insanely talented so seeeing him make a mistake like that is definitely tough. Like you said, 3-1 is a good start all things to consider. Plenty to improve upon but there are some encouraging things aswell.

  • @skylarcannon2787
    @skylarcannon2787 3 дня назад +1

    I agree with you DB. We in no way need to panic and make bone headed move like benching fields that would be detrimental for us and him he didn't really do anything that condones benching him . Just tell him you've got to go down in that situation you have two guys coming for you and the ball went to the ground just drop on it

  • @jamesb3092
    @jamesb3092 3 дня назад

    Colts wanted to win the game more than we did… Our play showed that. Now everyone will come at Steelers hard and fast out of the gate, seems to be the perfect thing to beat us, making us play from behind. I believe we needed the loss to put us back on the ground in reality. We will play much better ball vs Cowboys this week. Been a fan since 76 and have seen this happen time and time again with 3 different HC’s. This loss will motivate everyone, from the HC to the water boy. 😂😂 Don’t freak out and we seen lots of positive things in this game too, we were able to come back from a 17-0 point deficit, even making many mistakes, we had a chance to win in the end but a couple of mistakes prevented that. Chill and all will be okay. Here We Go! 🖤💛🖤💛🖤💛

  • @jaxboro
    @jaxboro 2 дня назад

    Got my membership! I feel like the Indy game was what we thought would happen vs Atlanta on the road, run oriented, etc. We couldn’t stop their offense no matter who was at QB and without Patterson, we couldn’t get anything going offensively.
    Moving forward, we must be better on 1st down. If Smith is going to run on 1st down so much, we need to get more than 0-2 yards on it. That Fields was able to get the ball with a chance to win when nothing else was working is a huge sign of progress of him. JF has looked really good so far he’s not turning it over Aton and he’s getting the ball out much better and quicker.

    • @Steelers_DB
      @Steelers_DB  2 дня назад

      Thanks for signing up, man. I really appreciate the support.
      The inefficiency running the ball on first down, and just in general, is really hurting them. When you factor that and the play action passing game not really living up to the billing, im honestly surprised that they've been as good as theyve been on offense (admittedly still not great).

  • @WilliamElliott-m5u
    @WilliamElliott-m5u 3 дня назад +3

    This offensive is not going to be consistent if it cannot run the ball. Fields would be more consistent if they can run even average he will look more consistent. On top of that they don’t have a receiver who is an excellent route runner get open guy. There’s are asking him to carry a team and he is showing signs of be able but needs some help to allow him to grow. It is almost like he is still with the Bears. Russ will need blocking and a a run game to succeed. Russ takes sacks and fumbles but let’s face it most QBs do when they don’t have run game, don’t have good overall receiving core, and line is so inconsistent with the injuries. They will be better as they move on and get people back.

    • @Steelers_DB
      @Steelers_DB  2 дня назад

    If we actually bench fields I'm going to say we will go 3-3 . Russ is not going to be able to get it done we have a hodge podge o-line he will look washed and after dropping 2 games back to back we will either go full losing season with Kyle Allen or restart the development of Fields and lose the rest of the season. We definitely need to stay starter.

    • @xmarx360
      @xmarx360 3 дня назад

      For sure, with the oline issues it would be crazy to put Russ in there. I like Russ and really don't want to see him get sacked 4 times a game when the pass protection utterly fails

    • @josephdonovan9125
      @josephdonovan9125 3 дня назад

      I agree now is not the time to put Russ in. But imo JF didn't do anything to be benched he put the offense on his back and made it a close game. Defense was not elite today that's for sure.

    The Steelers are doing what the Bears did, they’re using Fields as a Game Manager and not a Playmaker….Fields breaks the monotony of the Offense and FORCE confusion in the Defense when he Runs on Pass Plays…this creates opportunities for Downfield passing.

  • @xConceptz1
    @xConceptz1 3 дня назад

    I can’t relax and it won’t be okay… Fautanu out for the season, Nate Herbig out, now James Daniels out for the season with the Achilles tear, Seumalo will be a great return hopefully, but we’ll still have mediocre guard play. 7 total o line injuries honestly seems impossible to overcome at this point. The James Daniels news has me in panic mode big time!! Also JPJ forgetting how to cover has me more worried than ever about the CB room. And having no Highsmith killed the entire defense. Herbig cannot cover and cannot contain the edge. Injuries have legit killed this season, it’s so frustrating that the Steelers always have so many injuries

  • @ostasjr6267
    @ostasjr6267 3 дня назад

    I have a lot of single game thoughts, but something I've felt like this season (so far) is how vanilla Arthur Smith's passing game is. Feels like a lot of designed pass plays leave a lot to be desired, and a lot of the big passing gains come from breakdowns and not designed. Credit to JF for that, but kinda concerning for Artie... can't be easy to work with this depleted OL/WR room, but I am whelmed so far by Arthur Smith

  • @williamhanley7031
    @williamhanley7031 2 дня назад

    He's done is right. The defense sucked last week. Tj gets held on every play. Fields holds the ball for to long , that's my only take away. Throw it at the first read. Picket had this issue.

  • @Slayer118four
    @Slayer118four 3 дня назад

    I am over the run-focused approach that isn’t even remotely confusing the defense, or productive. I have stated here before that this OC hire was below average and I truly believe that still after watching all the cool stuff the Ravens did. (Trust me I did not want to mention them but it was nice) 😂

  • @DougShauger-ov8pj
    @DougShauger-ov8pj 3 дня назад

    Totally agree On Fields DB being start if this is going to be the line play we are going to get . I’m still very concerned. He held on to ball to long .you see on All22 at times doesn’t account for free rusher at times and you saw his history creep up
    But you definitely can see the upside !!
    Need to get this run game going and will say again it will come what we set the 5 starters on line

    DB, when Inhad the change to rewind the play of the bad snap, I saw the left guard looking back at Justin DURING the snap. To me, that means neither he or Justin was waiting on that snap. The guard normally would hit the center to signal he should snap the ball. That's why he's looking back. If that's the case, how can this even partially be Justin's fault if even the guard wasn't ready?

    • @BG33917

      @BG33917 i agree. I applaud Justin for taking the blame but it was another rookie mistake. I just feel like when he's overhyped, he makes those mistakes, like stepping on the QBs foot, bad snap in his first start, things like that.

      They’re going on the leg kick. McCormick tapped Frazier’s leg but the snap was a little delayed. Justin wanted to get a look at the rotation of the safeties but I guess forgot he gave the signal to snap it and wasn’t expecting it to come. Just unfortunate really.

    Defense: played trash. Missed tackles, no stops on 3rd downs, Joey getting cooked by Pittman.
    Offense: Cannot run through Najee man, he put up Rico Dowdle numbers yesterday.. nasty work. A traffic cone across from GP is more noticeable than Van. Need more CA3/Scotty usage. Watching how the Ravens use Flowers im like damn why we can use our fast guys like that. Fields should be qb1. Russ cant survive with this o line. Amount of sacks he would take would be unprecedented. And Daniels out for the season with an achilles.. not looking great but not panicking yet.
