James Blunts father was a kidney donation some years ago but then he got kidney disease and was in stage 4 kidney failure so James wrote thus song when he believed his father was going to die but a distant cousin came forward and was a match so his father survived, James was in the British army tank division and his father was his commanding officer in the Kosovo conflict
One thing that blows me away with this guy is how he can sing while he has tears in his eyes. If I'm singing along to a song that gets me emotional, my voice breaks all over the place. That took some insane control. Thank you for the reaction!
Oh he is well known for his emotional songs 😭 No Bravery The girl that Never was Carry you home Dark Thought (Just a few yo cry over) His delivery is always spot on
He does sing some happier songs (1973 is really great) but I’m partial to his poignant songs. That was a good, honest reaction. I cry to this song almost every time I hear it. BTW if you ever heard “You’re Beautiful” (and who hasn’t)? you’ve heard James Blunt. He’s a very interesting and talented man. I would suggest these if you want to hear more from him: The Girl That Never Was, No Bravery (based on his time in the military during the war in Kosovo), Goodbye My Lover, Dark Thought, Carry You Home. I’m sure I’m missing some but those are all great songs. His voice is unique and his storytelling is first rate.
Hello! I enjoy your reactions! May I suggest you listen to the group Forestella. They were the winners of the 2017 Phantom I’m Singer contest and are incredibly talented. You can start with their cover of “Bohemian Rhapsody”. Thank you!
I have seen many comments saying that James’s sister was supposed to have written a poem that James turned into monsters but that seems to be untrue ..I’m sure James would have put his sisters name as co writer if that was the case .. so it’s just an Urban myth
Yep, internet bullshit. In every interview I can find about this song where he talks of the writing of it he never once mentions a poem from his sister.
@Reba-123 that's just what I saw on an information segment. Just because you didn't see it doesn't mean it isn't true or not. You are not an authority.
@@mary1260 No you didn't. There is no evidence anywhere that says so. In every interview about writing the song he never once mentions his sister or a poem.
Kidney failure. Stage 4. He was not doing well on dialysis so would be dying if no kidney found. Luckily this song found a distant relative in Australia and the kidney matched and his Dad is doing Ok now.

AGREE!
No Bravery and Carry You Home were written quite close to him leaving the Infantry, and are still pretty raw for him over 20 year down the line.

His sister wrote a poem for their Dad that was ill. And James turned it into a tribute for their father.
Nowhere does it say that his sister wrote a poem …this is all James song otherwise I am sure James would have put his sister name as co writer

He's father had a kidney disease and couldn't find a donor. So they thought it was over for him. But at the end it became allright.
