It's not meant to be a palette set. They're just making it convenient to buy 5 tubes of the quinacridones. I used m. graham in my travel palette all through university with no problem. They do set up after a few days. They do stay sticky which makes it super easy to re wet. They don't dry completely hard like other brands.
I agree. I use MG in my travel kit with no problems. The Cobalts are the runniest and take longest to set, but they eventually set. I love my M Graham’s.
They set up and harden just fine. You just have to give them time to breath. The quin red is not always on the runny side. It binder must have settled that way in the tube. It contains Nickel azo yellow (PY150) pigment is mildly toxic, and is often labeled as hazardous. Avoid respiratory and skin exposure to pigment dust. However, the contribution of artist pigments to levels of nickel metal complexes in the environment is almost insignificant. Nickel is often present in the environment naturally. Nickel is used heavily in steelmaking, and in many industrial processes and products.
In fact quinacridone rust is not a brown but an dark orange, pigment PO 48 which accounts for its richness. And it's used as a base for quin gold which is PO 48 + PY 150
I saw somewhere on RUclips that, when opening M Graham tubes you should try to gently squeeze the sides (the widest part) in a bit just as you are opening the lid and instead of it all squirting out, the paint actually (slightly) sucks back in so that you don't have a paint explosion. I tried it on mine at the time and it worked. But yup, the tube just prior to that leaked all over me lol! Edit: Oops.. and just 10 seconds later I get to the part where you did exactly that, but afterwards, when you're putting the lid back on ;)

Quinacridone red is always my favorite color. I hesitate if it’s a good choice to buy this set because there’s just red series and it’s my first experience of M. graham. I’m hesitating 🤭 but your video is really useful after all. Thank you ❤❤❤
These tear-off palettes look so convenient! Is it possible to do even heavy water mixes on them without the 'paper' soaking or doing other weird stuff?
Yes it’s fine, it’s like plastic, water just sits on top of it. Just keep in mind it’s a flat piece of paper without any borders so water might just run off if you have a huge puddle.

My new tube of MG Quinacradone Red did the same thing when I first opened it.
So did my MG Cerulean Blue.

Daniel Smith can often be quite juicy as well coming out of the tube when you first use it.
