Yes, New Vegas was mede by Obsidean. It's the only time they let another company make a fallout title. They made them work under high pressure and got really salty when the result was ackowledged as the best fallout title yet. So much so that when the same company recently asked if they could make another fallout game or sidegame, they were straight out denied.
Lol
and they also have the balls to say the weapons in new vegas aren't fallout-y enough, and then make the fucking Fallout 4 assault rifle
Well a few small corrections
Obsidian made New Vegas, and was at the time comprised if many former Black Rock Isle Developers (who made the original Fallout 1, 2 and Tactics)
Obsidian actually highly praises Bethesda, and Todd Howard has highly praised New Vegas.
And Bethesda does do a lot of great world design, and even writing prior to Skyrim and Fallout 4. Bethesda's problems were just highly exemplified with Starfield, and was the opposite of their strong suits
They also had the original staff that was making the OG Fallout games from Interplay
"Made them work under high pressure"
Me when I lie
6:36 "Wait, you're as dumb as a brick?"
no no girl, you didn't hear him. he said he's *DUMBER* than a brick
Correction:
Joshua Graham isn’t too angry to die
He’s too religious to die
same thing
Didn't he commit to religion after being burned
He drank Jesus juice.
That just means it's Righteous Anger! You can be both :D
@@chriskoloski32The new Canaanite’s were already religious. It’s part of their culture.
Mr. House ending is like “everything stayed the same and Mr. House kicked both the Legion and NCR out of New Vegas”
Basically. He just wants them to shut up. He aint gunna do jack otherwize
Now thats something i can do
House isn’t the worst by any means. He’s done a good job that whole time.
@@ichigokage he's not the worst but that's like damaned by faint praise since the other options aside from Yes Man is the slaver fascists and the incompetent american government analogue
I played a character that was mostly out for himself, and when I saw that the NCR, Legion, and House were all trash, I was very delighted to see that there was an option to take them all out and make New Vegas an independent nation. I rationalized it as my character’s selfishness was turned into empathy for what he thought of as “his” people. Very good game.
I love games that have a wildcard option, it's always fun to make everyone your enemy
The only morally correct option.
Important fact: Obsidian at the time had the leftovers of Interplay, the company that made Fallout in the 90s that's the biggest difference. It goes back to a better RPG desing with traids and alike. Also small things like the NCR, a faction that already existed in the lore, in fact the player is the reason for it's existance, that's why it's so interesting seeing what became of it. Bethesda bought the license and moved INMEDIATLY to the east coast to avoid previous lore but keeping everything established in the old games. If that sounds dumb, it is
Obsidian was also formed by the remnants of Black Isle, the developers of Fallout 2.
Fun fact: Charisma is f*cking useless. Sure it starts you off with like… 20% of your max bartering and speech, both of which you can raise later anyway. The reason this is an issue is because it’s the only SPECIAL stat that doesn’t add to anything besides your skills: Strength increases your carrying weight, Agility and Perception increases your weapon accuracy, Intelligence increases how many points you can put into skills when you level up, Endurance increases your max HP, and Luck increases the loot you find while exploring as well as your critical hit chance. Charisma does nothing like that, and you can always boost your CHA skills later, so there’s no reason to even put 1 point into Charisma.
Edit: So apparently, according to the Fallout NV fandom wiki, Charisma increases the defense and damage dealt by your companions. So if you’re playing a no-companion run, CHA is useless, but if you’re relying on companions to back you up in combat, you’d wanna max that sh!t out.
-This comment essay brought to you by Unuspooky
The only reason you want higher charisma is to get the Animal Friends perk and the option to sleep with more characters.
@@joshportal2808 Ah yes, because you fight around animals sooo often, and sleeping with anyone in NV provides such handy perks and benefits (Keep in mind that I'm bisexual, so it's not like I'm opposed to romancing). All that to say even the reasons to have higher charisma are obsolete.
@@iamanunus9141animal friend makes pacifist runs less annoying
Perception only affects how easily enemies how up on your compass. Aside from that, it's hard carried as a stat by the perks it unlocks like Sniper and Better Criticals.
@@iamanunus9141 Bit late, but Animal Friend knocks off about a quarter to half of the difficulty of exploring Big Mountain, as it makes Nightstalkers passive.
"Having that lead in my brain added a few extra wrinkles" you joke but that is legitimately a plot point in one of the DLC
We just thinking that when she said that
Another perfectly timed moment she missed
Mummy dude, "the time for talk has passed-"
Her "-time for drink!"
Perfectly timed, and she missed it. That makes like 3 this video. The death loop, the vertibird exploding, and "time for drink"
Prewatch allegations at it again. Forget the fiends, the vertibird was TOO well timed.
Truth is.. Game was rigged from the start.
So yeah… The reason why the timing on the vertibird is so well is because [SPOILERS AHEAD!]:
There’s a Frumentarri that’s disguised as one of the engineers. He planted a bomb onto the vertibird. Which is the THIRD attempt at Kimballs life. First attempt is through the fake ranger. Second is with the knife rush. Third is the vertibird explosion.
I love how many famous voices I hear in that game. Mr House is Rene Auberjonois, Benny is Matt Perry... And a whole host more. The one thing that surprised me was that Legate Lanius ISN'T Christopher Judge, because holy crap do I hear Teal'c in his voice. LoL
With Matt Perry, obsidian just asked do you want to be in our next game. He took it in a heartbeat because Matt was a diehard Fallout 3 player. Before he died he said that he turn down acting jobs just to play Fallout 3 and later New Vegas.
Rest In Peace Matthew Perry
@@joshportal2808 Him being a huge fan is actually why he was cast in the first place. Hell, he even mentioned on the Ellen De Generes show that he had to have wrist surgery because of how much he played 3.
Felicia Day as Veronica, Zachary Levi as Arcade Gannon, Dave Foley as Yes Man, Michael Dorn as Marcus, Wayne Newton as Mr. New Vegas...
Most players disable auto-save, helps with crashes.
If you’re playing a female character you can sleep with Benny THEN kill him, it’s pretty funny and easy
Thats hilarious
Doesn't that require the "Black Widow" perk though?
On the other hand, being a male character with the "Confirmed Bachelor" perk allows you to flirt with Arcade Gannon, making it easy to recruit him.
Kind of like how in Fire Emblem: Three Houses you can recruit Ferdinand immedietly instead of having to wait until a later chapter if you're playing as female Byleth.

And that is why the NCR Veteran Ranger Armor is the only non-Power Armor to appear on the cover of a Fallout game.
The holy trinity is Blahaj, pickles and Fallout New Vegas. The adornments are cat-ear light up headphones, spinny skirt and thigh highs.
My New Vegas playthroughs always break down into sniper builds who are always always a more prolific cannibal than Jeffery Dahmer... or a heavy explosives that make the boomers and powder gangers look like they're both fighting eachother with Wolfpack poppers. Who also eats people.
Special note there's three secret perks hidden behind the cannibal perk that are surprisingly worth it.
I have finished new Vegas with the same build as BADGER and you feel like God using the second amendment with changes
Just as the Founding Father's intended!
I love playing as the Inheritor of the American Dream.
That comment about taking responsibility away from Bethesda to get good games.... Someone should introduce her to Outer Worlds...
Still better than Starfield.
Outer Worlds wasn't bad. It was just... I guess the best way to describe it is "small". It's kind of cozy in a way, really - but perhaps somewhat underwhelming.
Especially when compared to New Vegas.
hey that bring me some good memory, for the one who want to play the game ill give you this one advice that will help you, LUCK IS IMPORTANT not because you always win in the casino with high luck but because the more luck you have the more skill point you get when leveling up it is an hiden mécanique of the game.
Actually, it's Intelligence that governs the acquisition of Skill points, not Luck. Had the latter at 10 basically my whole playthrough, and I maxed out every Skill before I hit the level cap.

I loved this video so much, thank you for reacting to this!!!
funny thing, because of how robust the skill checks in NV are, needing actual charisma to pass checks is vertually nonexistant, and in NV, charisma is actually considered a dump stat.
also, a thousand caps is a lot?
*laughs laying on the 65k caps I robbed all the casinos in NV of, and that's just pocket change*
Though the little bit about the main story you mentioned where it can get lost in the background. NV is better at this since a lot of the sidequests and faction stuff actually ties into the main story and the ending. So in truth you're progressing that story almost all the time, even in little increments
and even when it is completely separated, it still ends up tied into the big factions and their interests, in lore development if nothing else

11:21 deathclaws from Fallout are actually the 2nd scariest enemy to fight against.
Charisma is kind of bad in NV because because most related checks actually rely on the speech skill rather than the charisma attribute. There's like two perks (one of which is mostly useless and the other of which is only a little useful in the base game but becomes a lot more useful if you have a mod installed that lets you carry around extra companions) and maybe three or four speech checks that rely on Charisma including flavor interactions with no impact. It does provide a boost to companions but again unless you have a mod that lets you have extra its generally more efficient to put that extra into yourself, and since the effects are so situational you can stack some consumables to get high charisma anyway.
37:59 About that......
btw Benny was Voiced by Matthew Perry.
Whenever i've played this game (And i've played a Crap Ton of it in the past) i've actually never gotten the NCR, Legion or Mr House ending, i've always Always *ALWAYS* taken the Yes Man route.
And there is a lil hidden area you can only access if you repaired the lil floating droid ball in the first town you come across, which gives you a quest that takes you to a nuke infested area, in where at the end, you have fully functional nuclear missiles, and you get a choice, Dismantle the nukes, Launch at the NCR or Legion, or my favorite option, BOTH!...I always pick Both.
I didn't think you'd need Ed-E repaired to enter the Divide for the Lonesome Road DLC, And I also used to just take the Yes Man route, but later found it boring and stale after a while.
@@Gearhead66 Well i might be misremembering but i'm pretty certain you needed ED-E repaired to access it.
Just like how you need to interact with the satellite to access Old World Blues.
As for Yes Man Route going stale, yea i suppose, but honestly, i found the other route to be pretty stale from the get go, so not much of an improvement when wanting to change things up.
@@ForemostCrab7 Just looked it up to be certain, you don't need ED-E to start the DLC, just like every other DLC, it's available as soon as you start the game, with all those pop ups at the beginning. And with OWB and the satellite, that's the same for every DLC too technically, there's always something or someone you need to interact with to start the DLC.

"You can either go full charisma and rizz the pants off of everyone, or you can go just balls to the wall murder"
Or of you're anything like me, personally, you can plan out how to get every stat maxed out by straight up abusing game mechanics.
The implant station is a personal favorite stomping ground of mine
8:01 Just sayin' this now; Wild Wasteland is *non-negotiable* - if you don't immediately pick Wild Wasteland when you play New Vegas, you're not playing New Vegas right. Period. Or quite possibly exclamation point. Am I right, people?!
39:00 I got into a similar problem in Skyrim of all places with my Vampire Lord, I was really low on HP and I didn't keep track of time so I stepped out of a dungeon in broad daylight and lost 100 hp while I had like 30 or so left. So it autosaved, I die, reload, and die and repeat till I just reloaded to a quicksave I did earlier in the dungeon.

4:53 I made a Strength/Charisma build for my first character. If I can’t smooth-talk my way out of trouble, then I’ll smash my way out with a wrist-mounted engine block (also known as a power fist)
3:23 "that lead added a few wrinkles"
[Spoilers for Old World Blues)
There's an actual plot point in the Old World Blues dlc that because you got shot in the head, there was a new wrinkle in your brain that the brain bots running Big Mt. thought would help them escape.
I saw somebody made a post or comment one time where they said something like “sense Mr. House was born in 2020, do you think he was an iPad kid and watched Skibidi toilet?” or some bullshit like that, and I forgot about that until I watch this video
Funny thing is, anyone who knows anything about Fallout New Vegas knows that you're actually better off dumping Charisma entirely. The reason being, there are no skill checks in the game that rely on Charisma specifically, only skill checks that rely on Barter or Speech, unlike other SPECIAL stats that do have some dedicated checks.
While yes, Barter and Speech are improved by your Charisma score, you can just improve them using skill points and get them to 100 that way. So you're better off just maxing out Intelligence and Luck, and taking the Educated perk, which should give you more than enough skill points to eventually max all of your skills out at 100.
There’s like… 2-3 Situations where charisma is used for a skill check. One of which is in the Old World Blues DLC and can be bypassed with the lady-killer perk. (And the female equivalent of it.)
4:00 to be fair the world in the fallout series was way more advanced then us before the bombs fell, and then they had about 200 years of time pass after that soooooo it’s not exactly THAT surprising
The curse of having pattern recognition, able to call out moments seconds before disastar
This was an awesome video and I agree with Badger on hating the NCR because nothing is as evil as TAXES. Also I really love your clown nose.
"don't taunt me, gecko!"
NcR: chaotic good(?)
Mr. House: Lawful neutral
Legion: lawful evil
Yes Man: True neutral
Fun fact the bullet makes you the perfect lobotomite in one of the DLC😂
Ah yes, the bloody mess perk is always a funny surprise, not every kill you get will result in it, but it’s always nice to get one that is
CLOWN NOSE PART 2???
Also wanna make a part 2 of thanking you for being an amazing person to look up to. You’re awesome. Thank you.
You might knock British healthcare because you might die because of overcrowding, but
Imagine paying to maybe die to overcrowding
when I finished this game, by finish I mean every dlc and main game I had 140+ hours XD
That's the thing about games like Fallout New Vegas and Outer Worlds. Both are filled with major factions that:
1. May or may not have your best interest in mind unless you go full tilt in joining them.
2. Will have serious repercussions for the faction that's against yours as well as some environmental changes if it gets bad enough.
3. Will have some good, well-meaning people sprinkled somewhere in them if bad or some fucking horrific monstrosities to civilization if good.
Better go grab me a snack and some drinks, because we got ourselves a chatterbox reactor! Nobody can say that it isn't transformative if you flap your gums! XD

For a less comedic but more in-depth video about New Vegas, Hbomberguy's "Fallout: New Vegas is Genius and Here's Why" does a great job of breaking down the difference in writing and choices between Bethesda and Obsidian.
41:30 Funny bit of trivia about Bethesda and Obsidian: Bethesda offered Obsidian a bonus if New Vegas scored an 85 on metacritic. New Vegas went on to score 84, no bonus was had, a lot of people thought Bethesda should pay them the bonis anyway, considering it likely would've scored higher if they'd been given more than just a year and a half to make this game.
Anyway, flash forward to the release of Starfield, which is not holding up to scrutiny at all. It's rated below New Vegas on metacritic. And, ironically, Obsidian's own "Fallout in Space" game, The Outer Worlds, scored an 85.
Does anybody know where those 40k alert animations come from? I want to watch that video, it seems hilarious.
What's ironic is Badge was throwing aspersions on the old innkeeper for selling someone into slavery. Yet, he is Pro-Legion. 🤷♂️
Fun fact: Danny Trejo voiced Raul Tejada in this game and it’s great.

I have 7,000 hours in Skyrim....
I play this game at least once every year, just like Final Fantasy Tactics.
Would definitely recommend a spread of bug fixes and optimization mods for it today, just to get the thing running butter smooth. After that, it's just about preferences, but the basic fixes, unofficial patches and optimization and performance mods are nearly essential today. This game is fantastic without much new content being added, just nice to have the options.
Also, worth noting, a lot of the interactions Badger had were sour because he had sub-brick intelligence and almost no social skills, so communicating with him was super annoying for the NPCs, you get different dialogue options and reactions for things like that.
who is gonna tell here that new vegas has a dlc that allows you to nuke both the ncr and the legion
20:53 well yes, but also no therussianbadger animated everything in sfm the ncr dude is a workshop model it literally a gmod character put in a ncr outfit
When Makari uses a deep voice it gives me feelings 😳
the DLC is worth playing (except honest hearts. it has joshua graham and the side quest where you fight a flaming bear if you have the wild wasteland perk, but other than that its VERY preachy, not very interesting, short, has a lame villain and a LITTLE BIT on the problematic side since it features characters who are native american coded who need to be saved by two white men who are VERY religoius).
Dead Money and Old Wolrd Blues are incredible.
Makari I love you but please can you at least try to not have "vtuber" as your core personality trait, it makes me feel like someone is trying to sell me stuff
