Dead Rising was one of my favorite games of the 360 era, kinda sucks that it hasn't been considered for a reboot yet, subscribe if you like horror related content!
Heavy agree that a remake should be made in Japan. I liked 2 and Off the Record, but it DEFINITELY was completely different. Dead Rising 1 was the perfect experience for me. Easily my favorite of all time.
I think they meant a remake should be made directly by capcom in Japan instead of outsourcing it to some crappy Canadian developer who ends up destroying the franchise.

Opinios of the remakes: Dead Rising 1, 2 and Off the Record: Already excellent just by the writing, if i were to improve anything, it would be the clunky survivor AI, stunlocks and also bring back infinity mode. Dead Rising 3: I would make vehicles far more scarce and remove all of the barriers. Also, Frank West would appear again Dead Rising 4: Needs a full on re-write, since it was specifically made to celebrate 10 years of the series, it would only be right that the 3 protagonists make an appearance.
I don't think Combo Weapons would work for 1 both narratively and with how the game was made. The game wants you to try and use everything you can get ahold of as a weapon and that would become pointless if you could just make a laser sword with a flashlight and gems. Also wouldn't make sense narratively because combo weapons seem like an adaptation to deal with the constant zombie outbreaks as survivors get more used to them. DR1 is the first time the average person experienced zombies so they wouldn't have the experience to make zombie killing weapons. Plus, it makes sense for Chuck who's good with tools, Frank is a photo journalist so why would he have the ability to make component Combo Weapons right off the bat? Would honestly hate if they added that into DR1 in a remake, would take away from the 'anything is a weapon' logic and would just seem tacked on because people expect it, not that it was needed like plasmids in BioShock infinite for example.

I feel that gunplay was made bad on purpose. Frank is just some guy, he's not a super soldier or a cop. He probably doesn't have much, if any, training for using firearms. This is meant to A, represent that, and B, prevent guns from being the objectively best weapons in the game.
I remember seeing this game in game informer and thinking this was going to be the best zombie game ever made. Loved Dawn of the Dead and this looked so exciting. Definitely legendary. subbed btw, nice video 👍
Dead rising is tippy top survival horror. You can tell they wanted to do ANYTHING to make the game feel oppressive. From dead rising 2 onwards, I felt like the american studios wanted to make the player feel too strong. It went from feeling like I was surviving just barely in the mall to being a cartoonishly strong one-man army. I also really loved how the narrative contrasts the game's world. It really, really feels like just a few hours ago everyone in the mall was going about their life as usual. SUCH a master class in survival horror. I pray that dead rising is next for a remake. It WAS the next game to come out after RE4 haha. Maybe history can repeat itself.
I feel the same way. As much as I like Combo Weapons, it seems like at a certain point that the zombies stopped being tangible threats and were just fodder to mow down with your laser gun you made from a stick and a laser pointer. I honestly prefer the DR1 system where you had to rely on any random junk you found because that made you be creative and experiment with what works whereas now it's just finding the ingredients to make the op Combo Weapons and don't touch anything else.

I hope the remake includes many options such as Auto save on or off, timer on or off, a sandbox mode for fun like OTR. Nice to just explore the mall sometimes and do little challenges/fight bosses.
Love DR. I think 2 is the mechanical peak but I'll always have a soft spot for the first, for its story and atmosphere particularly. Anyway, the 2016 release is perfectly fine. Give us Dino Crisis already!

Metal gear, resident evil, crazy taxi, dead rising. It’s funny because playing dead rising 2 for the first time (developed in Canada) and they tried to recreate the feel but it comes off kind of cringe
No, there shouldn't be reboot of anything. Companies need NEW games, something original. Just play the original game for your nostalgia fix. I'm sick and tired of reboots, i want new and original games

I'd like to see a DR game take place in New Orleans during Mardi Gra. It's got that flashy and vibrant setting that was missing in DR3.
