- Samsung Syncmaster 2443BW Repair - Monitor will not power on.
Usually this is due to bad capacitors on the power supply board, on the monitors I had the fault was actually on the logic board. Hopefully this will be helpful for others with these monitors as it is a fairly easy fix. No idea how representative this fault is of the entire product run of these but potentially this will save people a lot of time and money.
Sorry about the audio quality, something is up with my phone again, need to fix that now.
Anyway - let me know if this helped you fix your monitor, would love to know how many had the same fault.
just wanted to thank you for taking the time to make a video of this! I got the exact monitor and had the same issues (after about 10 minutes, the screen went black). I never opened a monitor before, decided that I might as well try this (even if I broke it...what di d I get to lose!). Your video really helped me open the case without damaging it too much, and what to expect. I started replacing all of the main small capacitors in the power suplly board 1st, as this seemed to be the number one cause of issues with this monitor. That didn't do anything, same issues. Then I decided to check the second board (the one with the monitor inputs) like your video. Funny enough, the EXACT capacitors were giving me bad readings.
Ran up to my electronics store and found the capacitors (btw, it would have been great if you did mention what were the capacitor values that you replaced in). After looking it up online with the store clerk, it was: 10uf 16V. Bought them for 0.25 /each !! So, for those interested, the caps labeled (100 16j) is replaced by caps10uf - 16v - 85 Celcius.
Replacing them took me a while (new at this) and almost broke one of them (when pulling it from the board). It was hard since the heat took a while to travel underneath for the capacitor to start moving/getting lose. I succeeded with patience!
Voila, put everything back in place, hooked it up and the monitor now stays ON!! yay!!
Total cost to change both boards caps: 15$ (not counting your solder kit of course). Total time as a newbie : about 3hrs (took my time).
"Replacing them took me a while (new at this) and almost broke one of them (when pulling it from the board). It was hard since the heat took a while to travel underneath for the capacitor to start moving/getting lose. I succeeded with patience!"
==That`s normal. All new electronics use lead free soldier. It is mostly tin with a little silver. The melting point, I think it is 220 C while the old tin60lead40 was 181 C.
Thanks. I replaced pop up power supply board capacitor but still get black. Found your video clip. Replaced the three 100uF/16j with three 220uF/50v on my hands. It works perfectly. These coupling capacitors are not sensitive to the volume, so a little bigger ones should be fine. Thanks for great job.
At 0:02 I think to myself "this guy's quiet," and crank the volume.
At 2:33 "OHHOLYMOTHEROFGOD!" and throw my headphones across the room.
ahahahahahahha
I have a similar problem: screen operates for a few seconds, then goes off. Recycling the on/off switch enables to get another few seconds of operation. I changed the four capacitors on the logic board (100uF 16V), but that did not cure the problem. Capacitors on the power supply seem OK on visual inspection, but I will try to check them individually.
Buying an old defective one and came to check if it's the capacitors. That's a common fault among Samsungs. Thanks!
At least you made me aware of capacitor problems on the controller board as well. I had not realized that this could also be a problem. I don't have an ESR meter, so will just replace the caps on mine anyway. It's a cheap enough experiment. I think your microphone was facing away from you - I could hardly hear anything of your audio.
Where you just finished is where my trouble begins. With my Samsung Syncmaster 2343 I have displayed both “Check Signal Cable - Analog” and “Check Signal Cable - Digital” when switch from RGB and DVI-D.
However, when I boot my old desktop, I get no “Check Signal Cable” if switching to a connected socket. Also, no image.
Oh and a quick way to identify bad caps is take a decent multimeter with a continuity buzzer and charge the cap with the probes on any side then reverse polarity and there should be a short beep then the cap is good, bads caps won't do anything. If the cap is dry then the beep will be on all the time. Only good for small caps that are polarised though.
Beautiful video quality, sound was'nt so bad until the scratching from hell hounds could be heard.
Other than that, thank you for a good informative video.
is there a special tool to take monitors apart like samsung 2253bw ..or just basic screwdrivers etc? I have a feeling my capacitors are bad. I'm getting the flickering all of a sudden.
Hi, i have problem with LCD Monitor, it shows me more line in different colors, it can be the condesator the same of yours my problem too, but i see monitor has moves in colors in moving, Thanks befor your answer.
It should be work for my monitor, but hope you can record the sound and upload it again. Thanks
Thanks for your help. I soldered everything in place and I will tell you if it solved my Syncmaster's problem tomorrow!
Hi, I tried this with my board and my problem was only slightly alleviated. The backlight still died out all the time but the monitor stayed on for much longer than it did before (much being 30 seconds or so).
I believe the main problem now to be a faulty backlight transformer, since I've replaced all caps on psu and logic board. Argh what a pain.
Does anyone know if I can get just the logic board for the 2343BWX monitor?
I am pretty sure the issue I have (blinking blue power light) is the same issue as described
in the video. But I cannot seem to find a place to order the board vs. getting the caps?
Thanks
Thanks for the video. Did not work on mine. Powers up , but will not hold a picture for more than 2 or 3 seconds.
Probably time to retire it.
Cheers
Exactly how mine behaves. Everything seems to work but the monitor just turns black after 2 seconds.
It stayed that way after replacing the two capacitors mentioned in the video
Use pressure air and blow your mic grill, its propably clogget with some dust and dirt.
My method for removing these caps is RMA flux on the pads and then use a pyropen or hotair torch with a fine nozzle and heat the top of the cap keeping the heat away from the board and keep tweezers on either side applying gentle upward pressure and wait for the cap to blow it's seal and smoke pours out (trust me it's the best way as it's only burning off the electrolyte) then the cap should come away really easy with no track damage. The RMA is essential as that protects the board.
Thanks to your video, I was able to disassemble my Samsung Syncmaster 2443SW which stopped working. A house lizard (one of the disadvantages of living in a tropical island) got fried on the power supply board (BN4400296C). After clean up, there is still no power. Any idea where I can source a power supply board (BN4400296C)?
Regarding the very low audio level, if you can't hear, please activate RUclips's automatic subtitles transcript. It is available under RUclips player "settings"
Hello, I have a SyncMaster 943NWX monitor, it turns on but its menu buttons do not work, of course this is touch but it does nothing, it is currently on direct. but I would like to repair it, could you help me?
need to know about jumping screen solusion. model s19c300b samsung
My monitor is completely black, even from the start. The power light indicator is on and flashes every 2 seconds or so. Would this still be a capacitor problem?
Please , What is the original problem whit your monitor before your reparation ???
Blinking, dimming , flickering can be fixed?
Nice vid , but I can't hears cleary . Did you replaced all the 4 capacitors ? or replace just that 2 capacitors showed in the video ? thanks .
great video. any idea what rating and how many caps there are on the power supply board?
DE quanto é esse capacitor?
Es posible, hacer el cambio de mi pantalla, por una más grande, actualmente una computadora de dos terabites y quiero tener una pantalla de 50 pulgadas
I have syncmaster SA300 and where can i go to find replacement capacitors?
My 2223NW works perfectly for 2 seconds after switching on, then cuts out (totally repeatably). Similar PSU problem, do you think?
thats what I have with different Syncmaster model. pic pops on for 2 sec then black. i tried the firmware upgrade found elsewhere on RUclips, but no way to get monitor into "program" mode to accept it
i have same issue with mine. any solution you have found?
im guessing its the ccfl backlight itself?
everything i read is needs new cap
First, replace the four filter capacitors in the power supply board, but can not be repaired, and then replace the video board all electrolytic capacitors, it is normal, thank you.
首先更換四個濾波電容在電源板的,但不能修好,再更換視訊板所有電解電容,就回復正常了,多謝。
Hi I have this monitor circuit board (F)QCCB0DL0110000 S/N: 33E71690LM0027 M3C201 I wanted to disable the sleep mode so I can use the monitor back light as normal light. I don't know which on I need to bypass in circuit. If you can help me will be great.
what is the name of the board you took out. i have the same monitor and i don't get a picture. where do i get that board at?????
I think a newer monitor is called for since they sell used for 80 bucks.too much hassel to do all the guess work.caps replaced and still same problem.like i said before probably regs.
Can it fix red dots flickering?
idk if u still check here, but i bought a 2343bwx from someone and the monitor worked for awhile, but then it smelled like plastic was burning and then the monitor screen went black even though it was still powered, it worked a couple of times when i turned the screen off then back on to bring the picture back but then it just wouldnt stay on anymore and stayed black, do u know what might be the cause of that and how or what needs to be fixed?
The cause of problems like you describe is almost ALWAYS the electrolytic capacitors. Not always, but almost always. Only by removing them and replacing with suitable new ones can you determine which one is faulty. You have to remove them to test, so it makes sense to simply replace them with new ones anyway.
can you do a video on replacing CCFL backlight
can we replace smd cap with same values in normal caps
I have the same on I want to run on 12volts how can I?
muy buen video me sirvio para reparar justo uno de este modelo
Hmmm.... How about a transcript of everything we didn't just hear?
It's there. Activate the automatic transcript (subtitles) function on the RUclips player.
Is is possible to change the led driver on the lcd controller board? i would like to change my backlight from white to RGB if possible. With the APA102 LED and the ESP8266 microcontroller instead of the onboard led driver. I have the following samsung monitor: C24FG70. Any input is appreciated.
You don't need RGB on a backlight. The whole idea of a monitor is to display RGB, using the coloured pixels in the panel. This is the way that the monitor is able to display every combination of RGB colour. Amazing, right?
thanks for the excellent, descriptive vid! i have the same monitor and i will undertake this challenge! :)
The problem here is it wouldn't boot at all?
Nice repair!
What capacitor u replace in...16V higher uf. i have the same board...pls. respond asap...thank you
Question?when i turn the 2443 on in default, it works great. When i adjust the settings like movie mode it will go black. When turning on again it will work in default mode.Maybe regulator?
+Sam mass Same problem, Did you find a fix?
Where can you buy the board?
just invented the perfect soldering iron tip for those caps.
I use the same monitor but when i was playing it imadiantely turn off i need help
Watch the video, replace the capacitors. What else do you need to know?
Can anybody help me.
I have a problem when I start my Samsung SA650 Screen just show Analog on Left side of the Screen then it start for few second and go off and won't start again or screen just flick
It depends. The problem might come the high voltage circuit board. For example, the transformer.
It could also be the wire that goes to the CCFL is cheap and has been disconnected (which is what happened to my T240HD TV).
is it ok to replace the existing 100µF/16V with 100µF/35V ?
Yes that's ok
Thanks, this video is helpfull.
Does not being on
How do you know which way round to fit the new caps?
The pad has a small diagonal mark at one corner, and the other caps all have the -ve side of the capacitor facing away from the diagonal!
Perfekt. It works... Thx
Why don't you use flux to remove components?
Because a soldering iron work better.
I don't understand what all of these hearing impaired people are complaining about, but I can hear you just fine. Thank you for the wonderful demonstration and all of the information you've disseminated regarding this monitor. I was actually curious as to weather or not you've run into a "latent image" problem with any of these 2443BW Series monitors? I have a couple of them that are functioning fine, except for this strange latent image issue. The initial image on the monitor when you turn it on is completely normal. However, after several seconds it dims down to the point where it looks like a latent ghost of an image. Motion bars look completely normal, except for this dimmed image. Any thoughts on this topic would be greatly appreciated. It almost acts like a thermal problem after it achieves operating temperature. Thank you :)
The volume is so low and muffled that it sounds like the guy is speaking into a pillow.
Bravo!!!
smc cap shoud be removed like norcall715 do in his video
нахер на майне ESR измерять, если нету на ней DC-DC?
i dislike . The sound's not very good.
couldn't watch, sound is really bad!
what do you say! your sound system is defective!
There's a device called microphone. Really bad quality. Can't take it
I cracked my screen :( how would i fix that
Removing those caps is a crap shoot.you will probably remove some tracer along with them.
You need to speak louder to the microphone... cracking & clicking are much more clear than your voice. Anyway thanks for video.
Audio quality is absolutely horrible...
the sound is awfull
Bad audio. Please use better mike when making this vid...
AUDIO SUCKS
go-pro in a watherproof box
OMG dude learn to record sound. Incredible to do such miss.
Terrible audio!
worst sound ever
