i dont have enough money to be watching your videos Johan... you are killing me with mind blowing tone my man. love when you start with the classic Ace lick too. rock on!!
More than a year ago, it hit me while watching Greg Koch demo different guitars for Wildwood that he made them all sound great. I realized I just need to practice more because the equipment isn't so much a factor when a musician plays well. I'm getting that feeling here with you now, as I see you find a way to tickle-out the best sounds from every amp you play. You sound great in every video. I need more practice.
Been owning this amp for about 6 months and I’m completely floored with it. I got the one with the stained birch head shell and it’s not only the best amp I’ve ever owned, it’s also the best looking. This amp used to sell in the states for nearly $4k. But you can find them sometimes on eBay or reverb.com for $1500/2000 and this amp is an absolute bargain at that price. I’ve been through many Marshall’s, highwatt’s, boogies, oranges and their clones and none of them, at least for my purposes that can hang with this thing. I may be able to dial in some better specific tones with the other amps but none of them go from clean to mean like this amp. This amp has one of the best clean tones I’ve ever heard from a channel switcher. Kinda like a plexi/bassman type clean. Bogner shiva’s have great clean channels also but I like the overdrive on the elmwood better for sure. Thanks for another great vid
This sounds awesome and that Gibson Les Paul Custom sounds totally awesome, i wonder how my Les Paul Custom would sound with a similar amp or a vintage Marshall..
I bought a 60 w red birch a couple months ago and it's brilliant. What a great amp. If you can find a used one, esp the 60w, jump on it. The 90w version has a devastating low end and it's incredible for metal.
Played a Mesa Rectifier for 10 years, then decided to try something new and European. Went for the Elmwood. Great lead tone, but ended up returning it. Back to the Rec. Love that amp.
What speakers did Elmwood put in thier cabinets? These amps seem like they would have been designed around V30's. As always.....thanks for posting Johan.
My Elmwood did come with v30. Elmwood also told me the Celestion gold was great with this amp but due to costs they didn’t sell them. I’ve not tried the gold .
I didn't know this amp. Really nice tone. Thanks! BTW, have you ever tried the Mesa/Boogie Royal Atlantic? It seems to be also a mix between Marshall and Mesa.
+Tommy Köllner (Sonofamustangford) Tackar! Jag vet faktiskt inte, vet bara att de var väldigt schyssta mot kunderna, kanske för schyssta eftersom de inte är kvar. :-(
hi Johan I´m a fan now for quite a while but one thing I have to ask Is this a hobby (Collecting amp´s guitar´s and recording) or is this somehow a prefession ( own music store, Recording studio) I know that you have a degree in engeneering.
Sounds like an orange more than a Marshall I'd say. More bottom end and gain saturation. Not a million miles off a Hughes and kettner type of sound too.
I'm not sure I like this sound - yes it's a mix of a Marshall and Mesa, but I don't think it's a "best of both worlds" amp. It's got the gain and fizziness of a Mesa, but not the brittle, overdriven body that I like about Plexi's.
That's why I love this channel :D saves me a lot of time and most of all - money! Keep it up Johan. Lastly, I want to request a JCM2000 DSL at full volume one day :)
Can't believe something that sounds this good is no longer made.
+Brian Cullen Yeah it's a shame!
They were $4000 plus . Too expensive for the average player......
Perfect sound starting at 2:58. That's where I start to hear the more modern tone of this amp. My first time hearing one of these...thanks.
+wizzells Thanks! It's the same settings throughout the clip actually, just different riffs. Cheers
That's a brutal-great sound!! Never heard of Elmwood but that particular amp is mind bending!
+D. B. Thanks! :-)
Elmwoods sound mind-blowingly good. Really, the best I have ever heard for a high gain heavy rock sound. Not extreme metal or anything like that
i dont have enough money to be watching your videos Johan... you are killing me with mind blowing tone my man. love when you start with the classic Ace lick too. rock on!!
+STEVE LEITNER Haha, I'm sorry Steve, Let me comfort you with the fact that I don't either. :-) Most amps on this channel are borrowed!
I'm a proud owner of this amp. One of the best guitar amps i've ever tested!

+Rick McCargar Thanks Rick, that's nice of you :-)
Johan Segeborn Thank you for helping us figure this out!

This is the best sounding amp I have ever heard Johan play on, amazing!
Great sounding amp! I never heard of them before.
+lailer1975 Cheers!
sounds great, a little smoother than the old Marshalls to my ears, and definitely more modern. Shame they are no longer being made
+Moltisanti Thanks, yeah indeed
Lovely guitar and that amp freakin' rocks! Awesome!
+GJ Thanks! Yeah the Custom plays so much easier than my standard. Cheers
This sounds awesome and that Gibson Les Paul Custom sounds totally awesome, i wonder how my Les Paul Custom would sound with a similar amp or a vintage Marshall..
+HearGear Thanks :-) Yeah it's a killer guitar
Hi Gain Goodness! Love it!
+tim price Thanks man!
My ears thank you.👌
+jdm31181 Thanks :-)
Cool as always Johan.
+PureToneAmps Thanks my friend

Please tell me you gig Johan. The good folks in Sweden need to hear this! Cool as f*** and sounding great as usual
+sniff rat Thanks :-) I don't for the time being though.
sounds great!
+Da Faq Cheers!
Excellent amps. Some of the best in the market. Sad they could not ship more to the USA
+79lpcustom Indeed, sad they're not around anymore
Grymt sound och lir, som vanligt :)
+Mattias Augustsson Tackar så mycket mannen! :-)
sounds great
+Brett Vanderhoof Thanks Brett!
Awesome, thank you !
+Bluescobra Thanks :-)
Great sound! What a shame that the company folded. How big is the difference in sound between the pentode and triode setting?
+Phil... Thanks! With my settings it was moderate
Thanks!
Played a Mesa Rectifier for 10 years, then decided to try something new and European. Went for the Elmwood. Great lead tone, but ended up returning it. Back to the Rec. Love that amp.
Sorry to hear that
Wow ... that thing roars! Making me think twice about my JVM
+Patrick Hayden Thanks :-)
I wonder if there's a tone so brutal sounding with the strike of one chord in The right drop tuning the earth would tear open and Satan would emerge?
+Joshua Phelps Sign me up for that amp!! :-)
Check out ruclips.net/video/jw6le7YS_mA/видео.html starting from 2:20 to hear the Modena in dropped D. Killer amp!
Johan i love your channel can you do an old vampower and let out your inner marc bolan?
+Oscar Williams cool that's a good idea. Glad you like the channel!
You should use the Black Beauty more often ;) !
+AlexGreen I should indeed :-)
This thing sounds like a Plexi combined with a Mark series boogie. Do I hear EL34's in there?
+Crimson Ghost Thanks! It's EL34s indeed!
Johan Segeborn Never heard of these before. Looks like I need one. Thanks for sharing.
How does it stand up to Hughes an Kettner?
What speakers did Elmwood put in thier cabinets? These amps seem like they would have been designed around V30's. As always.....thanks for posting Johan.
+Auen73 Thanks, the Elmwood cabs I have seen have indeed been V30 equipped
My Elmwood did come with v30. Elmwood also told me the Celestion gold was great with this amp but due to costs they didn’t sell them. I’ve not tried the gold .
I didn't know this amp. Really nice tone. Thanks! BTW, have you ever tried the Mesa/Boogie Royal Atlantic? It seems to be also a mix between Marshall and Mesa.
+Marcos Aurélio Lopes Oliveira I've played it once and I liked it, too bad they didn't catch on
That guitar is magnificent! Nice tone! Is it all yours?
+Yann E. Thanks, the guitar is mine but not the amp :-)
I have one of these and it sounds great ;)
hands down one of the most smooth tone on your channel. Sounds great. What kind of EL34's?
+Dan 2c plus Thanks Dan! I don't have access to the amp right now, but Ivan ask the owner.
Have you tried the Elmwood preamp pedal?
+Brian Cullen No, I'm afraid not. I tried the the woodpecker in a previous video though.
Does it have kt66 Powertubes? Sounds much like my Vintage Modern Marshall.
+Tobias Gronemeyer - Photography It's got EL34s
hi Johan
I´m a fan now for quite a while but one thing I have to ask
Is this a hobby (Collecting amp´s guitar´s and recording) or is this somehow a prefession ( own music store, Recording studio)
I know that you have a degree in engeneering.
+DarkItachi1 It's just a hobby :-) I have no commercial stake in this. I work at Volvo!
Johan Segeborn I drive a 1999 s80 2.4
how small is the world
have fun and thank you for all the great content.
+DarkItachi1 Haha! Thanks! You're great taste in cars :-)
This amp sounds killer-reminds me of the Engl Steve Morse-Soldano Hot Rods and the old Rivera M100s--too bad they are not around any more
+jim rhodes Thanks Jim
I have a nice 3100 head and cab in Göteborg if you want to test the original. :)
+Glen Gilbert I would LOVE that, man! Give me a call! I'm in the phone book. Cheers
Awesome!! Too bad they went out of business.
+Krimson Le Diable Thanks, yeah indeed a shame
Test Elmwood Modena M90 KT88
YOU DIDN'T SAY LETS GO!!
+10,000 Rambos oh, nooooo! ;-)
Sounds like an orange more than a Marshall I'd say. More bottom end and gain saturation. Not a million miles off a Hughes and kettner type of sound too.
+Lordoflight18 Yeah, you may be right
It aint no YJM 100 thats for sure!
+Kelly Jackson How would you say that they compare?
I'm not sure I like this sound - yes it's a mix of a Marshall and Mesa, but I don't think it's a "best of both worlds" amp. It's got the gain and fizziness of a Mesa, but not the brittle, overdriven body that I like about Plexi's.
+Ameer Saban It's of course hard to mix two worlds and sound better than the originals in their respective advantages.
It sounds great for what it is, and I guess I am not in the same room so it's hard to judge.
+Ameer Saban The whole point of this RUclips channel is for people to experience amps without being in the room where it's played.
That's why I love this channel :D saves me a lot of time and most of all - money! Keep it up Johan. Lastly, I want to request a JCM2000 DSL at full volume one day :)
+Ameer Saban Thanks man! Yeah the JCM2000 id long overdue here on the channel. Cheers Johan
