I also love how realistically a battle is depicted. Just bunch of people in cover trying to find where they are shooting from. Anyway, the tragedy of the Poles, and especially Warsaw during the war really grinds my gears, and it tears me up to think of the horrible event the city suffered, and I am not even Polish or been to Warsaw. They were literally caught between the Nazis and the Communist expansionism and met them with full force, and their attempt of survival was just met with total destruction. To some who are stupid enough to thing 'of course the Germans will retaliate', for them it was literally the question of dying or try dying. I doubt they were expecting anything more than total defeat, but by then they were experiencing 4 years of brutal oppression by the Germans, they had nothing to lose. Actually, they literally showed a fat middle finger to the Germans, and I think they should be remembered as one of the brave ones.

I think it has to be the greatest war film (of the European war)- put to film- Brodys performance was devastating- the loss of his family- there life befor depicted was so amazing- he lost it all. Ill never forget it. The thin red line was its opposite-(except some awful cameos)- was equally compeling
Nuremberg, Downfall, Schindlers List, and The Longest Day as well as Das Boot are pretty good too
